That's a huge disappointment. So they didn't show the event in the game in more detail so they can sell us the movie to see it first. Why SE, when you hurt the impact of the damn story? It makes sense now why the main gripe so far with the game is the way it is.

I didn't see a craft button anywhere, but I will look.
In the Elemancy menu, there's the 4 elements, the craft button is underneath them.

As for Kingsglaive, my theory about what happened is it they started to make it an in-game cutscene, but it ended up requiring so much story to be able to show what happened and why that the cutscene was just ending up too big, especially for that early in the game, in an area where none of the playable characters were around. So they decided to go all out, add a lot more detail and characters and make it into a full 2 hour movie, and just have the player in-game learn about it the same way the characters did rather than actually seeing the event. They only in fact added the cutscene bits (from the movie) that you do see into the game in the day one patch, so that was obviously a last-minute decision, they originally weren't going to show any of it at all.

Sure you weren't looking at them haha.

Yeah I don't get all the hate on Cindy. Yeah sure she is overly sexualized. So what? This is a game where the main cast are attractive males, and Prompto is always taking pictures of Gladdy's ass.

Because she's a bizarro monster-human with an impossibly tiny waist and ridiculous looking pods instead of breasts. Every time I see her I expect one of the cast to shout "Daemon!" and start attacking her.

So I'm at the
boat/ferry part
of the first chapter where they tell you that you'll be gone for a while and won't be able to come back till much later.

I'm only level 10 and have only done the level 12 quests and below.

Is it ok to leave now?

I'm at the Chestholm Channels and I'm getting my ass handled to myself but I manage to survive every fight. I've been running in Circles for half an hour now.

I was level 40 something for that area and yeah, some of those fights are really challenging.

The midboss was a huge pain too, more so than the dungeon boss.

Homage to a certain mainline FF?
I hated XIII but nothing in XIII was this bad.
Between the horrible story and the shitty progression after chapter 9, game's only saving grace were the few fight, take out the regular battle system and chapter 13 is pure torture.

Why does this game barely have
music.

I have no idea if the soundtrack is good or not

Battle and boss battle music is top notch stuff in the series for sure though

Does that mean I have a fetish b/c I find her hot? Also for reference I am not anywhere near a virgin, so I know what women are like.

Yep I must have fetish lol

So I'm not the only one that's noticed

When Gladio puts on ass-tight short-shorts and leans over the Regalia to soap it down, then we can start using the "Everyone is sexualized!" argument. Until then, it simply isn't true.

Here's to hoping for swimsuit costume DLC, though the difference between Serah and Noel's DLC costumes makes me think that we probably never will.

Is there a reason to do story vs side missions?

I understand you could do them after the main game. I'm just curious if they're other reasons.

Ooh Iris has a blindside link with Noctis too.
He punches the enemy and hurts his hand, and she runs over with a potion and heals him for over 1000 HP, then he pats her on the head and she runs away all giddy haha

I don't want this part of the game to ever end. Best character

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Not sure what to think about this game yet.

First impressions are it doesn't look great and runs even worse, the combat hasn't clicked with me yet (would prefer turn based) and the characters are annoying.

20 hours in so far and its ranking low on my list of favorite FF games. I keep waiting for the dungeons to get more interesting, the world and questlines to engage me, the combat to grow(its both chaotic and shallow and rarely statisfying), but just under 20 hours and several chapters down and my hope is fading.

Really can't see myself looking back on this game with the same fondness as a lot of GAF seems to.

Decided to advance the story a bit yesterday, so I finished up Chapter 3 and went right through chapter 4 next. A bit under 19 hours and around level 31 IIRC. Still enjoying the game a ton, though starting to fatigue on traversal and side quests at tad. Getting Chocobo's helped the former though.

To be honest it annoys me more because it's lazy and uncreative. I get that they want to show T&A, but they could still put her in a better costume than this.

That's the entertainment industry in general for you. Ever watch a James Bond movie?

Well, from a practical standpoint, story missions make you more powerful (coming from the perspective of someone who is only in chapter 2), side missions make you more money and level you up. Other than that, it's basically an open-world game, so just do whatever you want :) I never did complete the main story in Skyrim, but I had a lot of fun with what I did do.

GAF your so dramatic. Just cleared Chapter 13, yeah it was long and slow, but I fail to see what the deal was beyond that. Defending yourself is easy especially after
you find the king's royal arm
.

lol you guys had me so worried, for nothing.

The Dog the bounty hunter setting is starting to drag a bit now.. Desert and truck stops is just nowhere near as memorable as the opening parts of previous games... Midgar, Alexandria, Zanarkand/Besaid, Balamb....

The story in it kinda sucks too. Everything sucks about that chapter.

Hallway after hallway. Felt like I was playing FF13. I guess the number 13 is cursed.

I've just entered a new area and it is a breath of fresh air, I recommend you finish the main mission stuff and move on. You can always nip back for hunts etc.

"Hey Noctis, any preference on who I should photograph more?"

"Yes, I'd like to see more of myself"

"Sure thing"

*just takes a bunch of selfies anyway*

Haha I noticed this also. More selfies and crappier photos of noct in random awkward positions. Not a really good photographer

Am I doing this right? I'm level 17 on chapter 2, just reached the part with the chocobos. About 13 hours put into the game. All the side quests and exploring have taken precedence over the main quests.

anyone? I'd rather not be too overpowered for the main quests to breeze through them.

Question. How the fuck do you turn in the quests to Cid?

You have to have the item, the text is misleading and makes it seem like you already have it. If you've already gave him an item you have to wait for him to call you before you can give him another.

You technically have to clear one. The others are part of the main story.

You went in expecting the worst.

I was just curious. I tend to do side missions until I get tired of them then Story until I start wanting more in game world stuff then I jump back.

I haven't really started the game just yet but how fleshed out are the side missions?

Loving the game so far. My only issue so far is the lack of cutscenes and story in general. I'm on chapter 8 and I feel like I've seen less than 30 minutes worth of actual cutscenes. That's super disappointing to me since that's a huge reason why I love the FF games. Will it atleast be a lot more cutscene heavy in the later half?

Almost exact same situation as you. I think my issue is how the side quests are so direct and factory based. I really wish there was some deeper lore tacked on to these endless fetch quests for npcs.
