I've had to quit two dungeons because I've gotten lost or had to backtrack a considerable amount. They need a better map system for these places.

Quick Chapter 3 plot question:

At the start of the game, we're on a road-trip to a different city to pick up Lunafreya, right? But then everyone starts acting as though she was in Insomnia during the attack and is now missing presumed dead. How could she be in Insomnia when it was attacked if we're going on a road-trip to meet her somewhere else? Have I missed something?
Noctis and the gang knows Lunafreya is on her way to Altissia. It is the general public who thinks Luna and Noctis are dead.

Haha, so I took some time out to go to Crestholm Channels, and was having an incredibly tough time fighting the
Nagarani with all its status effects. Well, turns out that Ring of the Lucii came in very handy.

Cool thing about this fight, was that when she goes to do the frog mist move, you can warpstrike her face and interrupt it.

Doing side quest and now bugs popping up more than ever .
Was fighting and the game stick me in one place .
Not the first time but it becoming way to often now.

Man comparing the side quest in this game and Witcher 3 is night and day. Might just focus on the main quest from now on.

Follow up question.

Near the end of Chapter 3
I heard Luna talking on the radio, and a bunch of people listening with no indication that anyone thought she was dead. Did she reveal herself to be alive at some point? Is Niflheim okay with this?

I just finished hitting the third stone in Chapter 5, so no spoilers after that please!

This is my first post in the OT but I'm Chapter
13
and it just keeps going and going.

Why would someone do this to their players? Why would anyone do this to anyone?

Anyway, I have so much to say about this game. It is the very definition of a mixed bag. Despite that, and my cynicism, I have been enjoying it quite a bit more than I expected to.

Is it "good"? No.

Is it "fun"? Mostly!

Why is the sprint button greyed out when riding chokobo. I was able to sprint before

Because chocobo sprint is now square because... reasons.

I must have jumped a hundred times before hopping on a chocobo, pushing a button or opening a door. I will definitely try this out.

Holding down X after the first jump will auto interact with anything that uses the button (chocobos, picking up items, doors, etc...).

To make a chocobo run you need to hold trot.

You can only sprint whole you're trotting.

I highly recommend everyone only does sidequests and hunts when they need gil or want an XP/AP boost or a Megalixer.

One good thing about being overleveled, though, is that you are less likely to wipe in dungeons. Dungeons have no save points so wiping is balls.

It has also made Ch13 much easier to get through.

I'm struggling with not doing every sidequest. Level 54 and just hit chapter 7. I can't bring myself to just skip them, drives me nuts. Skyrim all over again lol.

The thing is, this game is much more about exploring the combat systems and the world (including dungeons).

Even simple traversal is actually fun (sprinting, chocobos).

The side quests are just things to do while engaging with the actual fun parts. If they offered both things it would be incredible sure, but the gameplay systems are fun enough they didn't bother me at all.

Conversely, with TW3, I adored the characters and storylines, but having to navigate the world (as beautiful as it was) felt mostly awkward and combat was just bland.

I really do think it balances out in the end. I just don't notice the quests being dull.

So the block and party system. When do I press the block button? As soon as I see the prompt? Because I'm trying that and still not blocking in a lot of instances. Now I just spam th block botton and I usually roll out of the way or sometimes I get the block and parry.

You hold it when you see the prompt. And you just keep holding it letting the game auto-design until the counter prompt appears.

Think of them as two states. Attack state and defensive state. Hold down buttons to switch between them.

Once you get used to the automation you can play around with it. You don't need to always rely on it as you can warp and manually dodge, but it is necessary to make use of it at times.

Awesome! Thanks for the help.

AFAIK, it's completely dependent on the enemy / attack.

Flans have this cute little attack where their hands glow reddish and they slowly (very slowly) move towards you to hit you. If you get targetted with that, even if the Flan is on the other side of the room, the L1 Block indicator will come up.

Similarly, there are attacks where you need to hit the Block button right before you actually get hit, even though there's a long wind-up (M
indflayers
[Ch.3 enemy] have an attack like this). Some other attacks seem to be much more lenient in their timing.

The inconsistency of this Block indicator is my least favorite part of the combat so far. It's trying to make up for the crappy camera and bad attack animations by putting a giant QTE in the middle of your screen, yet it still manages to be unclear.

They're just really basic.

That's hardly their only problem. They basically have all the faults we had to deal with years ago when this genre was at its beginning.
Pointless, far away and sometimes aburdly so, tracking them only one at a time for sidequests and involving time wasting back and forth for hunts, uncreative, etc.

They just rely on your enjoyment on the battle system while never adding anything, and when they don't they annoy you with shitty quests like frogs or bear traps. Those were a nice change of pace but badly made.

is there any way to stop my true health from reducing? I keep running out of elixirs in dungeons. Also I juts finished Chapter 4 and can anyone explain
why I had to go to the titan. Yeah I get the headaches but I get there, he attacks me and then there is a flashback to Luna and thats it. What was the point of all that.
I'm enjoying the game but this is easily the worst delivery of narrative in FF games in a long time. I watched Kingsglaive beforehand too.

This takka mission where I gotta kill the catoblepas is really annoying. Why make a rare ingredient tied behind a quest. I just gotta keep killing the fucking thing in hopes of getting it. Unless I'm doing something wrong.

Whole section felt more like throwback to Parasite Eve than anything else to me, and that's not at all bad in my book.

The cue that was basically Aya's theme was a nice surprise.

Also, it's a shame singer royalties would probably make it difficult to include Influence of the Deep and Somnia Memorias as ingame music; but I'd love some Parasite Eve music even if it was just limited to instrumental pieces - the full version of the main theme, Someone Calls Me, UB and Aya's theme would be good additions. Especially if they could use the piano arrangement of the latter from Memoria.

So about a late-game summon:
Shiva doesn't snap her fingers during her ulti!? Literally unplayable, 0/10, preorder cancelled.

That was incredibly offensive.
Without the finger snap or some roughly comparable central action, the summon animation had no direction at all, it was just so flaccid.

Ignis, if you have nothing interesting to say, don't say it at all. If I hear "indeed" one more time...

I knew some Kingdom Hearts influence had to have survived from Versus.

Had my first couple of hours playing this. What a weird game heh. My first impression is that they have accepted like the majority of ideas that ever came up without any filter and put them in the game. And that's not necessary a bad thing. I'm interested in seeing how it will grow on me.

Watched Brotherhood, Kingsglaive and played the Platinum Demo prior so I should be prepared.

You're the King so
the gods (summons) are gonna help you
. That's it
I still don't beat the game so I don't know if they're gonna give a better answer, but at chapter 4-5 that's what you need to know

At
Altissia
on chapter
9
right now

I just made the """mission""" where you
let some artist draw you
See the bros laughing and joking about that was great. The interactions between them really is one of the best things about the game

I love W3. If it's combat was as good as XV's and Roach was a chocobo... I don't know if one game could hold so much awesome.

I've tried to play The Witcher 3 multiple times now, but movement/combat feel so gross to me that I just can't get into it. Complete opposite with FFXV, though.

It took me quite a while to get used to how Geralt moves. Never got used to how Roach moves.

But Witcher 3 to me was all about characters, story, and atmosphere, so I just put up with the janky controls and eventually found battles moderately enjoyable.
