Can I just say, regarding Ch. 14.

HOLY WINFREYNUTS THAT WAS EPIC AND EXHILARATING AND whhhyy didn't they do this more?? Speaking of the Ifrit fight, that is.

The bombast, the grandiosity, the GoW-level scale, DUDE, this game, if it really went balls out more often, would be legend on that alone. It was awesome to summon two gods during the fight and watch 'em duke it out I mean bejeezus, did you watch that? It was incredible.

That was the most Platinum Games-type feeling I've felt since my last Platinum game. FFXV-2 should take notes on that imo!

Seriously, that was magnificent and had my jaw out a bit. Wish that kind of thing was more frequent tbh. That said I understand why it would/should be intermittent. :p

Holy shit. Be wary of Costlemark Tower. The end boss isn't that hard but the rest of the dungeon was hard, hard, hard. Can't believe I got out of one of those fights alive.
I was just about to do this lol, I looked and saw the level was 55 for the side-quest and backed up slowly.

I think this is a good reason for why players shouldn't go into the last few chapters extremely overpowered.

I mean I thought that fight was great, but I think I was like 15 levels ahead of the recommended and I reckon it would have been a lot more epic had I not been.

Just a note for those out there doing a lot of side quests before the end game to keep in mind.

It's a valid point, I myself went sidequesting like crazy before stopping myself and laser-focusing on the story post-Ch. 8, partly because I got impatient and partly because the gameplay was beginning to drag a bit. (And partly because I might not have quite as much time in the coming days/weeks so just wanted to get through the story while riding the wave. xP) In the end, while the main-story combat got a little more grueling and demanding of patience, it did crank up the sense of weight some encounters had. Not to mention the pace is already breezy without it, lol.

And also, to be honest, with enough magic and quincast equipped you can be OP in nearly any level you like, really. xP So I never felt like I was too behind/outmatched. Sometimes it feels like cheating though.

Chp 5.
loving it so far. Early game was sketchy as i felt underpowered and i felt like my hits left no feedback-like i was slicing air.
Now im powered up and wrecking shit and the plot seems to be doing SOMETHING finally and im enjoying it.
And taking the time to take part in the parties side activities i feel is key to liking this cast.

Side note...WHY COULDNT WE HAVE IRIS!?

Don't get too excited.

Early chapter
10
spoilers

- I really didn't expected to see Luna dying (or maybe she's alive...). At least not now.

- I really hope that the summons have a big role at the end of story

- Gladiolus is a dick

I want to love this game. But the messy plot and all these fetch quest reminds me of dragon age inquisition which I hated.

Do we have a list of the worthwhile sidequest?

If it wasn't for the fact this game is a mainline FF entry, I would have passed on the game. Now that I'm some 20hrs+ in, it's looking to dethrone FFVIII as the series worst entry. Still enjoy portions of the Ignis driving simulator, but man what a disappointment of a decade of development.

I'm in to the bitter end though, gotta get my money out of it.

The bolded was my grim attitude towards the game for the latter half.

Funnily enough now that I've beat it and I'm just clearing up dungeons I'm enjoying it more. The story was so terrible that once it gets out of the way the game improves.

Early grievances aside (And boy were there grievances...), Ch. 13 ended on a pretty cool note, so I'm ultimately satisfied for now.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Is lvl 50 high enough for this?

I recommend 55 and above and stocking a lot of healing items.

It's hard because (no story spoiler, dungeon spoiler)
3/4 chances you'll be heading to the wrong path
.

Dumb question, what is that blue circle surrounding the weapon wheel. A gauge of some sort?

Armiger. It's basically like the gauge for Noct's limit break.

I can believe that. I'm hoping it turns like FFXII, I didn't care for it to start but it grew on me and I think it's one of the better FF games overall. Both games also feature protagonists I don't give a shit about.

I play ffxiv so i think a lot of my problem for world /questing is it feels like they shoehorned MMO mechanics into single player game regardless if it worked out not.

Edit: correcting autocorrect

Done with the story, back to the Open World! It was a good ending, still baffled at Chapter 13 though.

So excited to start playing the open world again though, that was a reaallly long linear path there for a while.

Yea fuck this, Castlemark Sealed was not playtested. This is supremely bullshit of the highest order. Did anyone beat this shit on their Q&A team?

This feels impossible on Normal.

The storytelling is soo..nonexistent
Going from CH 3-5
after entering duscae
Literally the only story I got in these was the walking tour with uris, after meeting some random ppl in the hotel
Then just out of the blue, characters started talking about Archean, folgurian, hydrean blah blah
blah
And I followed a weirdo to some thing call a disc for no apparent reason
And Tiran popped out of nowhere
And something about constant earthquake that was never mentioned at all beforehabd until it subsided

Then everyone started talking about Loona going to six for noct as if it was common knowledge
It's blowing my mind this is a final fantasy game

Just got to chapter 3 and going to the chocobo ranch thing. I'm loving this game ever since I switched controls to type c. It's so much fun now.

The story is fine to me. Although I watched kingsglaive and the anime, the former being almost essential. They should have included the movie with the game and made it mandatory viewing at the beginning.

Reposting this once. I'll give up on getting a reply after this. :p

I have a question about Cleigne. It is a gameplay/structural query, but I'll spoiler tag it.

There is hardly any road here. I have not delved into it yet at all, but I'm just wondering -- is its explorable area far smaller than Leide? It seems like it could be. How much can we check out?

Just completed it

I felt like the story is
wathever they had fully developed pre 2012 that wouldn't require much effort on being made + some cool setpiece that we've seen dozen of times + removing everything that would requiere more work + developing the engine and gameplay, which is where i think 95 % of the manpower went to lol

It's a shame, it's a lovely minimalistic story but it misses epicness. Combats are awesome for the most part, but some parts needed more testing to make them fun.

Tabata just went there to finish shit and use whathever he could, that's all.
Still the best open world out there and the only one that manages to have a real life scale

It's abysmal, the fragmented development is so glaringly obvious that it is kind of sad they released it in this state. Granted most stories are about good vs evil at their core but they at least have a lot of fancy dressing, this literally had nothing. I've been harsh on stories lately, Rise of the Tomb Raider was awful, this is on the same level. It's a shame, the world is just begging for a good story and the characters are there to support it.

Fortunately it is actually fun to play.

Well went from Lv 60/58/58/58 to Lv 99/99/99/99 in an hour so that's done.

I still have a lot to do in post-game but I'll first focus on the trophies I need still (
Fishing skill rank 10
and
beat the Adamantoise
)

That's why I cautioned folks to consider
just how constantly we were seeing that same setpiece. In marketing 101, you use what you've got, especially these days. Not even slight flashes of more than a couple of key setpieces were ever hinted at in the trailers -- because there weren't any.

The "oh man, it's incredible how much the developers are holding back from marketing" line has got to go or fans are gonna keep getting disappointed in gaming (with rare exceptions).

I hope you enjoy
Adamantoise because it's not exactly fun. It's like whalloping a big mountain.

I don't know how long it will take to beat it at that level but
it took me 2 hours at level 58.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

Actually in this case most of the marketing set pieces
were either repurposed into Kingsglaive or outright removed, lol

Pretty much at the end of the game. Jesus chapter 13 is terrible. The way it was executed is just plain bad. I enjoyed the first half of the game more the the endgame stuff. The latter half just seems so rushed. I totally get the MGS V comparisons. That being said, I've enjoyed the game despite that.
