can someone explain the ui for buying stuff?

Like what does...

30->15gil mean?

Is there some 50% off thats happening atm?
I think it's a discount awarded to people who pre-ordered the game? I have it too. AFAIK the discount will always be there...it's negligible for stuff like petrol but I really appreciated it when staying at an expensive hotel. Had no idea that this was a pre-order bonus so it confused me at first too.

Doing chapter 13 right now, currently a little while after getting
Regis's sword (also game a few sheets of paper scattered around his body is not enough to explain what Ravus's deal was)
and so far it's fine. The only part that came close to being as frustrating an experience as some people are saying (other than the camera in general) was fighting
the spider thing with only the ring. I don't fully understand the mechanics of how Death works yet

Also, that third spell "Alterna" is that supposed to be Ultima? If so that's a really weird thing to do with the translation.

really? that's a fairly huge advantage lol. At least early on it doesn't seem like gil comes that quickly outside of doing monster hunts?

I finally arrived at Leslallum and explored. It was a surreal to actually walk around in the area we've seen long ago in trailers.

Iris has feelings for Noctis. Sounds like she really wants him but Luna is in the way....

Yeah, it's a nice little bonus. Itching to get back to this game but I stopped when the big update was announced. Gonna be an excruciating wait.

I entered this thread to try to decide whether or not to get this game. It did not help me at all.

Should I just wait for a price drop? Also, what's this I've heard about dlc or patches to fix the story?

A question. Do you need to Analyze an enemy type every time? I am thinking about putting game in wait mode each time I meet a new enemy type, analazing them and then turning it off... would that work?

Just finished the story.

I absolutely loved it.

Haven't read the thread to see a consensus on anything just yet, but I loved going through it all, the last chapter was very well done, I had a lot of fun with the combat system and the music was really good. Beautiful environments too. The visuals on PS4 Pro in many parts, including the last chapter blew me away.

Also, Chapter 13 is awful and frustrating and feels completely out of place.
The combat system goes from nice to shit and doing Chapter 14 just now really emphasized that. The party is gone, the stealth is crap, the environments are boring, the doors take FOREVER to open (or at least a good 5 seconds), the writing was cringy, it was long and repetitive and boring.

So yeah. One of the best of the year for me and I hope that update fixes that one glaring issue of a chapter.

Pretty sure you have to do it for every monster. Neither does it permanently record what it analyzed for said monster type should you encounter it again later on. And then on top of that, it appears that the stronger the monster, the longer it takes to analyze it, which can be uncomfortably long at times.

That's cute. When you complete the fishing quest line
Noctis earns a nickname. If you have the subtitles on, when Noctis speaks it uses that nickname.

Trying to take a picture for a quest at the golden hour (aka sunset) and Prompto is like "ah this lightning is no good"...

Bruh... are you even a photographer?

This is about to be my first Final Fantasy game, not to mention (probably) my first JRPG. Any tips for a newcomer?

Dont sell your treasure, if you need money then find some hunts to do. Keep lots of potions and other curatives in stock.

I wouldnt go crazy doing every single side quest you come across until at least chapter 3, because then you get access to Chocobos and getting around is 3x faster with them.

When upgrading character abilities, get Ignis's "regroup" skill, it heals the entire party. Then start unlocking the nodes that give AP for driving, riding chocobos, fishing, stuff like that. That way you are earning AP while doing the stuff you were going to be doing anyways.

Yeah with higher prices it's definitely an advantage. I'm not too far in story-wise (chapter 5) but have explored a lot and found my Gil has never gone that high without having to spend it on something or other. Hunts and a certain quest giver you meet in chapter...3 I think are reliable sources of income, but I have to laugh when a weapon costs less than a meal! Those aren't affected by the discount, which is good I think.

Lol! To be honest I found it weird with Iris, she has no respect for the fact that he's engaged. It made it difficult for me to warm to her but if she has some nice moments with Gladio later that will probably change my mind. I liked her moments in Brotherhood but I feel like Gladio's is a better perspective to view Iris from in-game than Noctis, since he's got so much on his mind and Gladio is always going to adore her as a brother. All that said, I do look forward to seeing a bit more of Iris.

poison is a pain... can't heal with the status on?

Is there poison null food/accessories?

There are lots of poison nulling foods and a poison blocking accessory. You should still be able to heal even while poisoned though.

If you are talking about your characters HP bars being shrunken its because they went below 0 hp and you need an elixir to fix that. Or camp of course.

I finished chapter 9. What a mess. I have no faith this plot is going anywhere now. Every beat the story hits feels forced and unearned. The plot is a bunch of loose threads tied together by load screens and extra game media. The characters and hunts are fun but I'm abandoning hope for a satisfying narrative.

Just finished Chapter 13. It wasn't so bad at all...
This run in Chapter 14 from Galdin Quay to Hammerhead is worst than that. I mean why do I gotta run 2+ miles unless I'm missing something?

EDIT: Nvm a truck picked me up. Everything's good now.

I kind of like that the story is told mostly through the idle conversation in car rides or camping or subtly between the set pieces. It's definitely a muddled presentation overall. Hastily put together but there's something to it that I enjoy. And I do like the set pieces even if some of them you can see coming.

More importantly I actually care about what's going on to these characters unlike anything in FF13.

how do you get more outfits? are they buyable in game?

I think k aside from the ones you start with, there are only two others obtainable via story progression.

Though there was a preorder outfit from...Amazon? I think? It may have been in the CE too.

I'm really confused here on the CH10
Marlboro fight. I just 'fought' him like 3 times. He's pretty easy but each time my party gets walloped and they tell me to regroup, so I do that and nothing happens...

There was an outfit from the Deluxe and UCE.

Besides that, there's ones from completing the game. That's all I've found so far.

I think you can also get the
thermal suit outfit thing
for each character by finding it in a certain place post-game.

If you weren't already referring to that*

It's pretty poorly explained but there's a red mark somewhere you need to go to in the battle area.

Chapter 13 and struggling against
Ravus
.

Any suggestions on how to beat him? I'm only level 37 so perhaps going back to the open world and leveling is wise..... Any places where I can farm quick exp or any particular quests I should pursue?

Thanks!

I agree totally that the plot is a mess, but the game managed to get me invested in the four main characters, which for me is very important.

What the fuck?!

I wasted like 4 megalixirs redoing this fight because of that. How the hell was I supposed to see that fucking red arrow and know to go to it at all. The word "flee" has meaning.

So I'm on chapter 14 and I think I'm severely underleveled and undergeared. I decided to
talk to umbra and go back to do some side quests to level up, so I'm in insomnia and I dont have a save from when I was in hammerhead.
Is there a way to pick up some of the best gear from where I am, or did I screw myself? I think this is basically a shortcut to the post game area, so if theres a post game area with best gear also that should be good.

Yes I agree that I care about what happens to the characters but that makes it more frustrating that nothing has any weight or makes any sense.

I guess I got lucky. The game told me to run away from it so that was the only direction I saw to run and there was the arrow.

imo it gets a little better after that point from a character perspective at least.

How do you fast travel? I'm early, only chapter 2, but I swear I saw the option once to get in my car and basically warp me to a location. I don't mind driving once, but man, even having to wait 2 minutes to get somewhere is kind of crappy.
