How do I choose the CD to listen to? I've bought all the FF classics I could find so far.

Ajso, I suddenly can't drive manual anymore?

Tapping left or right goes through the tracks. Holding left or right cycles through discs.

I can only drive manually at night so far. Ignis is afraid of the mailer daemon.

at some point. Haven't even started the game, still watching Kingsglaive, but I need that. I need that very badly.

Best Buy emailed to say the Deluxe edition I pre-ordered was no longer in stock at the local store or anywhere close, so I changed to free shipping and I'll get it by Wednesday.

Wednesday next week.

They really should have added a "wait here until nightfall" option out in the open world

Absolutely. My biggest issue so far.

Isn't Luna basically under house arrest by Niflheim? I don't think she has the freedom to contact him through normal means.

This is still fantasy and requires some suspension of disbelief, but the newspaper thing doesn't bother me at all.

If she is, it's not stated in the game. And we see her (for the first time) just freely strolling down the road, so no, I don't think so.

They had phones when they were kids? Cause they don't show that. The City isn't 2 miles way. Also in Kingsglaive they attacked from another side of Insomnia (the Galad area or whatever).

I'm not saying it isn't poorly told but these have answers or aren't that dumb. Just wait till you get to the later chapters.

They aren't kids any more, they have phones. It is clear at the end of Chapter 2 how close the city is when they go up the hill to look at it. It's nothing more than a few miles.

Nothing they show in Kingsglaive matters if it isn't shown here - this game's story must be coherent on its own because they can't know you've seen Kingsglaive or when you did etc.

The dogs are more than dogs (or so they are according to a loading screen) and this is a video game. . .did you really expect them to put legitimate distance in the game? I mean I can see being upset that everything that is happening while Noctis is out of the city occurs in a movie, but this seems petty.

In an open world game I do expect some semblance of distance, yes. And I also expect the story to be scripted around the location of the player at the time. It just feels like all of this happened on your doorstep and yet no-one really reacts to it.

You say 'it's a videogame', but I genuinely believed that they were trying to make this one realistic, that that was the point! Well, they fooled me.

I'm gonna go play Chapter 2 and see what happens.

i expect this games story to be terrible, but there is something charming about seeing Noctis ouji shooting people COD style.

And it cant be worse than XCX right?

Well if this is bothering you then you will rage extremely hard in later chapters.

Man, it would suck if I was one of those people who've been waiting to play this for so long only to not like it or be disappointed. Luckily I really enjoy what has been released, however, I do agree with some of the criticism that has been posted.

Normally I would just read some posts and think, hey person, it's just a game. But, a lot of us have been literally waiting a freaking decade to play this. Can't imagine it not meeting certain expectations some have set.

stamina meter is ass

Eat food that makes it never run out, or let off on it at the last second to immediately replenish. You can infinitely run in the game.

What do you mean "no one reacted to it. . ." It happens the day you advance the story. Should they have seen smoke in the distance? Maybe. However I think it's a little silly to be upset that they can't see what's happening to their city right behind them, and be OK with "the world" being basically the size of San Andreas. It's like you're ok with one "videogame" design cliche and not the other.

You say 'it's a videogame', but I genuinely believed that they were trying to make this one realistic, that that was the point! Well, they fooled me.

You're playing Final Fantasy. A game with Chocobos and Behemoths right alongside cell phones and radios. What exactly were you expecting here.

I'm gonna go play Chapter 2 and see what happens.

What a concept. Not judging the game off the introductory chapter.

WTF

I'm picking up treasure more then once while running around.

Does literally everything respawn!

Picked up a bangle from the same spot I picked one up there a few hours earlier. Does treasure respawn if it never gets marked on the map by the outpost or something?

Yup.

In the movie it implies her brother has her under guard

If you have to watch the movie to make sense of this game, then that is a failure of epic proportions. That is a stunning, shocking failure of storytelling.

The fact that I did in fact watch that movie changes nothing, imo.

EDIT: Beaten, thanks orthodoxy.

So far a bit of an underwhelming beginning, alas only played one hour. Also, god damn at the frame pacing at HQ. Lite mode has too much shimmering and aliasing and HQ has good IQ but bad frame-pacing. Argh.

Shit. This is what I was worried about. I have only played FF7 and watched Advent Children movie and that has been my only FF exposure..well played one of the NES games back in the day.

I think visually (screen shots) that the HQ mode looks the best and to hear the frame pacing is bad is going to kill it for me. I just unwrapped the plastic wrap and put the disk in the drive not more than 10 min ago and hearing this is a kick to the balls. Wonder if I should wait??? What is this December update I have been hearing about? Is this going to fix the shit frame pacing I am reading about?

Do we get more outfits for Noctis other than the ugly ass second outfit they give you at the start of the game? I have the Lucis outfit but it's too formal to use it in a first walkthrough.

They really should of just stuck it on the game disk and have it play automatically at the start. Or better still actually have the story in the game,...
You can't expect someone sit through a two hour movie before they start a 20-30 hour RPG, so this would have been the sensible route :p

So let down with the choice of outfits. Loving everything else about the game but I'm not sure why they bothered even letting you change them if they weren't going to put in a decent variety.

Only 4 outfits (8 I guess if you count the no jacket ones) I've heard. Outside of the Deluxe DLC one and the Yakuza style jacket you have to buy a physical jacket to get.

So I'm not even done chapter one yet, and I can already tell I'm gonna end up spending a lot of time in this game.

It was a really great idea watching the movie and anime right before playing, everything makes sense, I've already been introduced to the world, feels like I'm continuing the story rather than starting a brand new one. Not to mention knowing each of the main cast, their relationships, personalities better.

I am actually debating whether to wait. I am pretty sensitive to this stuff and the game doesn't seem smooth at all most of the time. Lite runs as I thought HQ mode would run but at lower resolution and it affects overall quality, HQ looks several times better but it's as if half the 30 frames got stuck sometimes.

After the awful demo, I was torn about getting this. $35 from Microsoft Store on black friday was a no-brainer, though. So far I'm enjoying it way more than the demo, even if it feels very MMORPG-y

This fucking game right now, fuck it.

'Obtain a Lucian tomato'. So I go to the shop and buy one.

Return to the quest guy, but it's saying I didn't buy one. Return to the shop and buy another. Nothing. Buy another. Nothing. What the FUCK is going on.

And why can't I manually drive the car during the day? And why does my 'friend' Ignis charge me money to drive?
