Final Fantasy XV |OT2| For Jared!

The real charming moments are when you see the crew smiling and having a good time right after you select to rest. I really smiled seeing the guys and Iris just talk and laugh in Lestallum hotel.

I also love seeing them at a place to eat. Noctis is in his suit and he's just talking and having a good time with his friends .

Those are moments I really like.

Yea, even seeing them pick on each other are great moments as well as they been together for a long time. This part of the dialogue like this always gets a chuckle out of me when I play the game.

Prompto: Wow this place is so romantic
Gladio: And you get to spend it with us
Noctis: All three of us
Ignis: You sir are a lucky man.

I did the same lol

This was the first picture Prompto took in my game, it was sending a message from the start XD

I bought an eight-pack, some bok choy, and some beef to cook and shred it. Fuck it. lol.

just arrived at ch14.. gonna save it for tomorrow. Anyway, goddamn that ch13 dragged for so long that I came to dislike it too :X

ch13 spoilers
The king, Ravus and everyone else Niflheim were really underused wow.. do we even see the king outside of cg cutscene?
In the few weeks (or months) after the invasion, he and everyone in the empire just turned into daemons?
Ravus just showed up once in earlier ch and then, suddenly dead and then we fight the zombie daemon version instead? whaat (hard fight though! )

all in all, so confused I probably need to read up on the story to clear things up after I finish this lol

I like the one when you're driving past an outpost just as dusk is hitting. Prompto whines and asks Noctis how he can be sure you'll be alright if you keep driving and then

Gladi: What, are you afraid of monsters?

Prompto: Nah, I ride with one everyday

Gladi: What was that?

I did a story dungeon in chapter 7 last night
with Aranea and the boss was Quetzalcoatl.
This is the first time I've felt bad at the game, that boss was just insane and did SO MUCH damage. I've never used so many elixirs until now. By the time I started figuring out how to avoid the damage it was close to dead already.

Aranea Highwind
is probably my favorite character in the whole game by now though.

After that the game
sent me to the Power plant to clear out some monsters. I don't even know what the heck this was and it's the first time I was able to tell there was some disconnect here or felt that some content was cut in this particular spot. It just felt like nonsense. I still have no idea why Gladio had to leave or how he got a new scar on his face or why he showed up at the power plant. Is it all just some excuse to let Aranea join the party because the game can't handle more than 3 companions?

Some of it is a bit 'woah' though, spoiler for the end of the game:

Ignis can start saying of Noctis: "Let him have his fun while he's still alive"

Also, telling Ignis to wipe his glasses.

Also, ch0 is kind of confusing, and it all happens to suddenly and with no context. Reminded me of El Shaddai's intro.

Anyways, the intro we got it's not bad either, and imo some people are hyperbolic about it. It's just not that remarkable.

You know...after beating FFXV, I think I understand why Chapter 0 exists the way it does.

Square was probably just trying to avoid a situation where an unsuspecting player jump into the game, pushing a car to a gas station, driving down roads, and catching frogs, and start to think the game is going to keep that pace from start to finish. A good stretch of the start of XV doesn't really have much going on, and it takes a while before you see anything truly "fantastical" So they threw Ch.0 in there just so you'll know.

But i can only imagine how impactful that part of the game would be if the opening didn't outright spoil the timeskip for you.

I think the best opening for XV would have been an unwinnable fight with Regis vs. the General from Kingsglaive.

I think I remember reading there is a Hunt for the boss in Costlemark? Can anybody confirm or did I just read something wrong?

Yesterday, approx. 10AM.

"Ahh, good to have the day off. Think I'll play some FFXV. It's about time I checked out that secret dungeon."

~five hours later~

"OMFG WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME JUST KILL ME PLEASE ALREADY GAAAAAAHHHHHH"

It was great, though.

Yep, there's a hunt in there. I don't recall which outpost had it, but it's real. As soon as I saw it's in the Costlemark dungeon, I said nope and continued on my way. Not going through that again.

Yea some dialogue is a bit rough once it hits you :(

Not having a save point in there is a huge bummer. I just gave up about half way through because I wanted to do something else. Will get back to it down the road, but man is it frustrating.

Going to check out those locked dungeon doors instead.

Alright, beat the game. Great ending. Bros forever. Chapter
13
was fine.

Chapter spoilers:
The early part where all you have is the ring lasted maybe 30 minutes and the enemies were no problem if you're good at dodging, since it auto-counters with Holy. After that you get the sword, and you can just fight enemies normally minus warp-striking. In all, it was maybe 1.5 additional hours before being reunited with the bros, and 30 minutes past that to get all of your powers back. This is what people are bitching about worst chapter ever? I thought 9 was worse with it's sudden "We Bayonetta 2 now" boss fight.

The stealth aspects of Ch13 were a complete failure though, as I didn't manage to sneak past any patrol except the giant without alerting them.

As people have said before, secondary characters and
Luna
get shafted in the development department. It almost seems like they were trying to give you essentially a Third Person Limited type story where you only know what Noct knows, but it ends up making you feel like "Yo, that's some major shit to be happening off-screen and just heard about afterwards. They sure must have cut a lot of content."

Overall, the game was very enjoyable, even if you can see the parts where they had to cut content to the bone to get the game out the door. While those parts are noticeably thin, I think the overall gameplay and narrative is strong enough to weather them.

I did this last night too, had to stop part way through to go sleep because it was so long lol.

I was honestly enjoying it a lot until
the sections with all the floating slanted platforms. The game controls are just too finicky for that kind of precise platforming and it was too dark to see well most of the time.

It reminds me of an episode of Buffy, it followed Xander while the rest were fighting some huge demon and stopping the apocalypse. He was busy with a bunch of people brought back from the dead and everything happened off screen.

That's not a slight I really liked that episode.

So does anyone have a collection of guides for this game? While I haven't beaten it yet, I kind of want to do as 'post' content as possible, including the adamantoise, getting all of the parts for Cid's upgrades, getting max level, etc. I've seen several people post a few of these things, and took a few to memory... but trying to go back through 2 threads to collect it all seems pretty daunting.

Truth.

I do understand its intention, it was just a bit too fast paced and ended so abruptly. It could've been handled smoother.

Or even better as you said, Regis vs the General.

Spoilers if you haven't reached chapter 10.

I think it's a bit more irksome with Luna in particular, because she is supposedly a main character, second only to the 4 party members. Yet she has no character, everything that comes out of her mouth is about Noctis or her duty. She has no development at all, she only exists to give Noctis the ring and to help develop Noctis' character. The other sacrificed characters aren't main characters. If Luna were a man, I would still find that character rubbish to be honest, the fact that she is a woman is the cherry on top of a whole heap of issues.

In general I think the whole character death as an inspiration/plot device is a bit overdone in this game. It happens in previous games but not to this extent.

What's sup with FF series obsession
with killing female characters? After I finished 9, I felt so bad for Luna. She is considered to be one of the main characters in the game, yet they did her no justice. She has like what? Less than 10 dialogues. By the time we get to know her a bit better, they kill her. Like WTF Tabata? There are million ways to keep the plot going without this shit.

Huh...?
I'd say male characters die far more often in FF
. Chapter 13 spoilers
And yes, they kill Luna, but they also kill Ravus.

I take more issue with
her lack of dialogue than her death. FF has always liked killing characters, a certain female character's death just happens to be the most iconic death in the series. Luna probably got dealt a shittier hand than any previous heroine though. Never had any freedom or control over her life, only ever wanted to help Noct and be by his side, and in the end was tossed aside as soon as she fulfilled her "purpose."

Is Chapter 9 the one everyone hated? I thought it was pretty cool. It reminded me of
Zone of the Enders 2
.

Now, the part where I had to escort blind Ignis... That wasn't fun!

To be fair, I don't think it's a regular thing in FF. I can only think of
Aerith, and that was handled much better because we got to know her and genuinely care. That's the best comparison I can think of. But yeah, Luna as the 'Final Fantasy heroine' is probably the bottom of the list

I'd say this bit in particular helps the ending of chapter 13 have a little more weight.
Multiple characters have sacrificed something for Noctis's sake, and now Bahamut says it's his duty to sacrifice himself for the sake of the world

Regarding Ch 13-
I personally liked the change of pace and aside from the boring brown hallway parts, liked the change in scenery and it evoked a very Midgar/Shinra feeling.

But I truly, truly, feel that the whole chapter would have been 75% better if the player movement wasn't gimped. I don't hear many people mentioning this, and it was the single biggest reason for why I was angry during that chapter. Why was sprint disabled and the movement so sluggish? Noct always had his shoulders raised and arms hovering like he was sneaking, which I get is what a lot of the chapter is about but I was desperately going "COME ON!!!!" just moving around and exploring looking for treasure and stuff, and even trying to do the jumping trick to get around faster (like in towns where you couldn't sprint) did nothing. I was mostly dodge rolling forward to make progress but it still was super slow until you were reunited with your bros and the controls returned to normal.

Story wise, structure wise, and change of pace wise, I liked the chapter quite a bit. I also like how the Ring of Lucis gave Holy and Death, some other classic FF spells, a chance to be in the game

So are all the sealed dungeons just
repetitive floors of enemies until youy reach a boss
? Or is that just the first one (Keycratich Trench)?

Just to ask again...are all 8 of the sealed dungeons of the same design in terms of being towers of repetitive floors with a camp every so many floors?

You could've chosen not to take him with you, though.

I figured I'd made a big mistake. The way he approached me made me think to not leave him behind, like a sad little dog. I feel like I brutally paid the price for not paying attention for a second, ha. Constantly getting bitched at by Gladio and generally everyone making me feel like shit about it. Yikes, I didn't want to reload though.

So, I've noticed that Ignis doesn't always take notes when you try out new food items at restaurants. Initially, I'd assumed that this was due to not having the proper ingredients, but he actually did learn some dishes where I don't have the ingredients.

Is there a known requirement for what to do to get him to learn something, or is it random? Specifically, I want to learn the recipeh for the oyster-looking dish at Galdin Quay. Would it help to keep ordering it until he gets it, or is it something else I'm missing?

I thought I tried that but thanks for letting me know :)

It's still super finicky and will randomly unlock on people... I don't even bother trying to use lock except when I'm warp striking something. If there is a group of things, it's magic till there isn't a group of things :) Then I don't have to worry about it.

No
,13
is the one people hate. I thought
9
was fantastic myself, but it's a bit divisive, some people didn't like it, some did.

As for
Ignis, at some point I just told Gladios to fuck off and ran ahead of them. It really doesn't make any difference.

Yeah, I want to know that too. Sometimes I bought a super expensive meal with great boosts just for Ignis to learn it...but Mr. Picky didn't feel like it that day. D:

Honestly, it's not that she only
wanted to help noctis and be by his side, but that she had to knowingly help fulfill the prophecy and lead both herself and noctis to their deaths despite their feelings for each other. In fact, as I see it there is an interesting duality here - despite luna consistently upholding her duty as oracle to help noctis achieve his destiny, it was the girl, not the oracle who provided him with the strength to do so (Gentiana also refers to this at one point).
