Final Fantasy XV release date reveal on March 30th in 6300 cp theater by Kinda Funny

I didn't expect for the March event to be this big of a thing. Also,Greg and Tim are a weird choice. The last thing that comes to mind is Greg Miller when I hear Final Fantasy.

Repost in other thread when people asking why they choose Greg Miller
Hey--

That was actually's Square's *idea* when working with us. Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE Final Fantasy, but I've never connected with it. Meanwhile, Tim loves it.

Their point with Final Fantasy XV is that it'll bring in both of us -- noobs and hardcore fans.

I want to see a development timeline of this game at the event. To see the troubles, issues and what happened and why it took so long
... and in 2008, we had no more ideas. Then in 2009, it got boring, so we started new projects. But then in 2010, a few new ideas were implemented. Development became somewhat stale again in 2011. In 2012 everyone was burnt out. Come 2013, we just said fuck it, let's finish this mess of a game! And so we finished it three years later!

That's unrealistic. They couldn't keep the game under wraps for a whole year longer anymore. People were already giving them a lot of crap for FFXV being a no-show for almost 1,5 years after E3 2013 (and prior to E3 2013 people gave them crap each time Versus XIII missed another big gaming event with nothing shown or announced). Granted, the way they've handled some of the reveals since TGS 2014 could've been done better, but all in all they weren't really in a situation where they could just keep people completely in the dark anymore.

Not to even mention FF is kinda important for Japan so they did need something to reveal for PS4 then & there, not in 2015.

I think we are talking different things. I say their versus --> XV announcement was 1 year too early at least. Then they stretched out meaningless content updates until recently, and seemingly distanced themselves from versus in everything but Noctis. Had they delayed the announcement, they may have seen that linking XV to Versus would come with certain expectations (that they had been working on it for years, that people would expect what they knew about versus to be part of XV etc.)

The could have conceivably continued business as usual with versus being absent for a while longer without impacting their marketing plan.

No. As I said, people were getting really resentful over FFVsXIII missing a lot of big events by E3 2013 and as I also pointed out, Square Enix said they felt they needed to announce FFXV (and Kingdom Hearts III) at E3 2013 because they knew the console situation in Japan was/is dire and they felt announcing two big hitters like FFXV & KHIII would perhaps make it at least a little bit better. That also applies to the worldwide market. Creating excitement for PS4Bone is important for the success of SQEX as well, which is what FFXV & KHIII unveils at E3 2013 certainly did, no matter whatever small missteps they have taken since then, occasionally.

I personally prefer FFXV & KHIII being in the open, even if some of the showings have been a bit underwhelming/boring. I've been excited by a lot of the stuff they've shown, not all of it has been total shit.

I guess it makes sense Colin isn't in on this. Greg is a great host, and Tim is too (it only helps he apparent loves Final Fantasy). Colin on the other hand is the kind of guy who will say Final Fantasy, Square, and other companies like Nintendo are dissapointing without playing their games. And I love Colin despite this. But he has no place at a FFXV event.

Releasing March 31st...2020!

Wow, I can't believe they picked the Shrine! I go to grad school right across the street at USC. Guess I'll be skipping class....

Colin shouldn't be host for this event. But what he definitely needs is an interview with Tabata so that he can clear away his preconceptions of FFXV.

Love him or hate him Greg is a pro. Tbh I can't really think of any gaming "personalities" that I think of as final fantasy super fans anyways.

Maybe they'll also have playable kiosks at the event? Or some other stuff for fans other than just 'Final Fantasy XV will be released in September 5th 2016, see ya.'

Colin is a super fan I believe but he's not the type to host an event like this. He's more for the low key interviews and the more nuanced discussion –– this is more info dump and marketing. Greg is much better suited due to his personality and ability to engage an audience on a different level.

Colin is a super fan of old Final Fantasy (FF1-VII? Maybe FFVIII and IX but I've never heard him speak of them) but he loathes all FF's from FFX and onwards so even if he was more outgoing/appropriate to host he wouldn't be a good choice.

I have to echo this sentiment.

The slow burn has soured me so much. For a game that arguably has been in development in some fashion for nearly a decade (even if they tossed out most of it), I think it was a mistake to rereveal it so far away from release.
I don't, I think it's generating hype again and I'm excited it will finally be out. I've been playing the demo and loving it.

Crap time for Europe, which is probably for the best. Will wake up to release date on 31st.

Obviously they're going to also announce 16 and 17 just like the old millenium event which saw 9, 10, and 11

"We didn't learn our mistakes from the last time we announced multiple Final Fantasy games together. Please be excited for twenty years of the same FFXVII footage."

fingers crossed that the tenth year anniversary of final fantasy versus xiii's unveiling is celebrated by actually releasing the game.

They're renting a 6300 seat auditorium to reveal the game's release date.

They aren't. The event is called "Uncovered: FFXV", not "FFXV release date show".
It's the beginning of their marketing cycle: live show, big trailer, introduction of the game to the casual gamers, CE pricing and more.

Continually baffled by how drawn out the release of this game is. I've played every FF game and want to play it, but man this long preview and release process is really draining. I thought the FFXIII release marathon was bad, but it's got nothing on this game.

This game has a LOT to live up to, I hope they did the players right this time.

The thing is that Versus XIII didn't even enter full development until a few years after its initial reveal. Then the development was completely rebooted in 2012 when it was turned into FFXV. Lastly there was a soft reboot in 2014 when Tabata took over.

Interesting take away from the ATR: Square-Enix policy states they can only announce a release date when it hits beta. Shame they can't apply a similar policy to announcing games.

Why would someone go to this?
Because maybe there's more there than just a release date reveal? Maybe a chance to meet some of the creators, perhaps interesting presentations by said creators, maybe live music & other stuff that has been in SQEX events in recent years. It's not just a "hey dudes & gurlz, the game B out on XX.XX.2016, peace ya'll, hope you had fun coming here, that's all"

Do you honestly think, they're only reveal the release date and everybody goes home after that?

Any news they announce or footage they show will either be on the internet at the exact same time or very shortly after.

Maybe they plan on giving stuff away I guess?
