Final Fantasy XV release date reveal on March 30th in 6300 cp theater by Kinda Funny

I still think the release date will be in September. They will be able to promote it with trailers/stage demos at E3, Gamescom and TGS (which would be at or around launch).

Any news they announce or footage they show will either be on the internet at the exact same time or very shortly after.

Maybe they plan on giving stuff away I guess?

The same reason people go to Comic Con conferences. Crowding into a theatre with 6000 other obsessed fans isn't for me, but a lot of people get off on the communal hype.

Guesstimating November myself.
8 month marketing cycle sounds too long. The March event is supposedly the big launch of the kind of leading-up-to-release marketing/hype cycle where all limitations are taken off and they start giving magazines & websites preview access, push out trailers more regularly & start putting the game in front of the general audience more & more (tv commercials, ads before movies, demo etc.). Publishers usually don't continue that kind of thing for 8 months and only reserve such marketing for the last few months.

So at first people post "release date when?" after every event involving FF15. Now that they definitely know at which event it's gonna be announced, they just shrug it off with "release date of release date" jokes. You just can't please people.

Ahh fuck, I read it too quickly and thought the game was being released March 30th. I even started screaming while I was on the phone to someone...

Please be soon.

November release would be nuts - doubt they wanna launch it against the Holiday big hitters and potential Sony VR and NX launches. Late September or early October seems more likely

If you're going to translate the announcement of the announcement into Japanese at least convert the time to Japanese time lol

Release date 3rd QT of 2017.
Somewhere in that period. For Japanese release. EU/US/AU release, who knows!
Please be excited

Part of me's hoping for late September, just so I can have completed three degrees (and all the other stuff in-between) in the time it's taken them to make this game.

But if it's earlier than that then I'll be ecstatic too :p

I'm going to guess that Colin's sudden shift from constantly repeating "the game is nowhere near finished. It's getting delayed to 2017" to "yeah I think they'll hit 2016" is due to this event.

Shrine Auditorium, HOT DAMN. They are gearing up alright!

Super stoked to see KF hosting, Tim is going to love having that chance!

This is going to call for some epic crowd reactions and YT reaction videos. Really curious to see the shape and price the LE will take. If this game brings a custom PS4, I think I'm going to take it home.

Couldn't stay up for the ATR because I'm crap with the flu atm, but I'm not missing that one (I live in Europe, so it's early AM for me)

I will run a trailer length bet and release date bet on my Twitter starting March 15th, I've done a few of them before and it has been good fun, so feel free to join up! I don't want to link my Twitter account just in case I go against GAF rules but it's on my GAF profile Home Page section if anyone is interested :)

As for my guessing atm, probably September.

Announcement of an announcement... hate that shit

Hyperbole. They obviously have to date this event and let the public know. It's not just a 'release date announcements'. It's clearly going to be a big milestone in their marketing push, hence the event. What's the problem?

I'm guessing the game will release in November. Smack dab in the middle of all the other games releasing in 2016.

Barring any unforeseen set of events I think SE will not only launch when they say they will but that this game will "bring it". They know, SE knows they can't be fucking around or theh will screw up their most beloved franchise.

Awesome that it's hosted by Kinda Funny, weird that it's Greg but not really. Greg's a people person and Colin isn't. Good for Tim.

its an announcement of an Event that will itself contain more announcements...should they not announce when they are going to hold this big event?

GAF can be so cynical sometimes

I wonder what kind of turn-out they could expect if they chose not to announce a ticket-required event in a large auditorium in order to protect some internet commenters' delicate sensibilities.

To be fair, GAF has been resiliently cynical of Final Fantasy XV for years. Seeing how confident Tabata is now that the game is nearing completion in comparison to previous ATRs makes me think there will be many birds served on plates. Regardless, no matter how cracking this event will be, I still expect to see a lot of whinging on here both during and afterwards.

In regards to the release date, I'm expecting it any time from September onwards. I don't think Square-Enix want it to compete with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and I'm sure they picked that release date for a reason.

My bet is early September, the reason I say that is because I think they learned from MGSV last year. MGSV had its release date announced around the same time XV's will (maybe a week or two earlier?) and seemed to do quite well with the September release.

I need some stupid fun mini games/ side quests in my FF games. FF VIII has an excellent card game, FF IX has that stupid frog catching game, and FF X has Blitzball.

I hope there is something more to cooking in this game.

We know you can fish & there's also chocobo racing, pretty sure they've also implied those wouldn't be the only side activities we'll be able to partake in.
