Final Fantasy XV release date reveal on March 30th in 6300 cp theater by Kinda Funny

True innovators at SE, first paid demo of FF13, then holding a press conference to release the release date, now holding big event to review work-in-progress of FF15...

I'll be in Japan then so won't be able to watch it live. Will be keeping an eye on Twitter and GAF for the news :D.

Looking forward to it though.

They don't? Haven't they given tons of interview opportunities to fan sites in the last few years? Sites like KHInsider getting to interview Nomura and such.
Final Fantasy ones in particular. Most of the interviews I've gotten come from regular news work through the main network I work for the past couple years.

What paid demo? It was included in Advent Children blu-ray thats not a "paid demo" its an extra.

and holding a big event for a game release or to kick off a media campaign is nothing new. FFXV is among the most anticipated games of 2016 and relatively little is known about it.

This is the trolling age of SquareEnix. They're going to get up on stage on March 30th to announce an April 1st release date, just in time for the Amazon shipping notices. I bet they've known about that date for a very long time, but people would've thought they were trolling by saying it's coming April 1st 2016 way back in 2015.

I mean, why else do they need all the fanfare? If it's coming out after E3, then that would have been the perfect venue for announcing the date (ala Fallout 4).

I didn't watch the ATR nor have I kept up with XVs development so this is an outside opinion.

We know you can fish & there's also chocobo racing, pretty sure they've also implied those wouldn't be the only side activities we'll be able to partake in.

Excellent. I reckon it will release shortly after E3, around July, hence the blow out in March to give enough time to build the excitement.

Yeah, these announcements of an announcement do the opposite of getting me hyped.

Of course, if the March announcement is "Final Fantasy XV will be available... tomorrow!", that's a different story :P

Imagine if Kagari just got herself into this.

Polishing, tweaking, optimization and debugging.

They seem quite competent behind the scenes to get that all done in time.
~50% of the game was already said to be polished to final quality some time ago. Polishing the rest shouldn't be something that takes over 12 months, unless they run into some seriously game breaking shit late in the development.

So all footage was from august build ?
No, just the "progress report vol. 2" stuff.

The game isn't coming out a day later, guys, lol.

I know you're all joking, but I get the sense from the way Tabata spoke during last night's ATR that there's still a few months to go, for sure.

Of course it would be awesome if they released it during the summer, somewhere in June maybe but if they miss summer,I am betting on a mid October release date.

Seems odd to have a announcement for a release date. Guessing the demo will come out right after the show. Will admit though while not possible, the game coming out the next day would be crazy.

I would laugh a lot (and then die, resurrect and run to the closest retail store) if Tabata channeled both Oprah and Beyonce and released XV on March 30th, handing out a LE to everyone at the Shrine Auditorium

Not happening, but it would be awesome as hell lol

Well it was said they are still optimizing assets for PS4, right? Seems quite...ah it feels a bit late in the day to be doing that but I guess it's not like they're not just starting. It at least bodes well for the quality of a PC version, not so much the port, if content is being authored well above PS4/Xbox One, which it usually always is bbut...you know what i mean :P

Not odd at all. We've known about the March event for months. It was always going to be a big blowout. It's been speculated and implied that the release date would be announced here as well. So not really a shock

I thought you were a man also context on why is suda surrounded by women?
Suda? His name is Akio Ofuji. See:
From the FFXIII launch party hosted by Maxim.
Troy Baker was there, too :D

EDIT: Here's the video from that party with Toriyama raising a toast:

Man, this whole party looks so awkward. Who had the idea to launch a JRPG at a Maxim party. You could maaaybe do that with FFXV, not with FFXIII.

EDIT2: Haha, look who I found in that video:

It's Square Enix PR dude Akio Ofuji, the host of the Active Time Reports with Tabata & Co. Seems like a cool cat, I like him^^

Embarrassing is how I would describe it too.

Their marketing tie ins for XIII (Maxim, Leona Lewis, Louis Vouitonn etc....) made little sense.

Sony is throwing some major bones to Kinda Funny's way. They love Colin and Greg, especially after giving them the stage at PSX

I doubt Sony is THAT involved with this particular event, I'm sure they'll have a marketing agreement but this seems very square.

Then again, I imagine they'll announce a special edition PS4 here, so maybe the are

Sony have thrown a lot of bones Kinda Funny's way but I don't think they had anything to do with this. This would have just been decided by Square Enix. Though maybe if Sony are going to heavily market FFXV/align it with PS4 (which seems likely) then they could have helped them get the gig.
