I just realized I had some dread scrolls..should I treat the dread fighter as a promoted class? Meaning wait until reaching lvl 20 first?

I dont think I can beat conquest 24 :(

That barrage of kinshi knights are too much

What difficulty are you playing? I had trouble with that one, until I learned how to approach it.

First turn, I placed Niles on the top so he can defeat the 3 mages on the enemy phase, then I went back to the middle to tank the upcoming flyers, after dealing with those, I took out the enemies on the island on the left.

After that it was just slowly advancing as the reinforcements came in, they will stop coming after a while, around turn 8. After that, the future reinforcements will only come when you get close to Setsuna and Hinoka. So I baited Azama's hex rod with pair up support units, and then baited Setsuna. That's the only time I needed to use DV to shorten the Flyer's movement range as more will appear when you are in Setsuna's range. The tricky thing is making sure to take her out next turn and that your weak units wont die to the remaining ground units. After that, it should be easy, more reinforcements will when you approach Hinoka, and you can use DV again if you can't beat her before they reach you.

I hate Lunatic Conquest 17. I get so close but the NPC gets ambushed by surprise reinforcements. I can understand a Ninja map. I can understand shifting walls. I can even understand escort missions. But what possessed ID to put all three in one?

Severely underlevel in Conquest chapter 19.

I don't like to bench people, so I level every one up evenly. Now they are all level 16-17, while the enemy are all upperclass. Even the free DLC is too difficult for my team.

I guess I have to break my rule of never changing one's class before level 20.

Is anyone else a fan of Rinkah's supports, or do most people find them annoying? I've really enjoyed them so far (Kaze C, Silas C, Kaden A, Orochi A), but maybe it's also because I really like her in general.

Anyway, after almost a week off, I came back today to plow through Birthright 21. Trying to pair people up finally as I don't have a single S support for anyone. Don't think I'll be going for all the children as I still plan to play through Conquest and Revelations in a row right after this.

But you don't have to keep him alive though?

I love Rinkah's supports. They're great. I am also a big fan of Rinkah herself, so that's another reason why.

You do if you want a free speedwings.

Those late reinforcements on that chapter though. I don't know if they show up on turn numbers or when you reach a certain point, but god damn it. Had the map nearly clear, managed to block in the NPC so he couldn't kill himself, got the second treasure chest... then surprise reinforcements. Didn't have space to move everyone away from them, and lol 3% crit.

I suppose the one "upside" is that I get to get all those levels again. Because my levels during that attempt were awful, most of them only got one or two stats up.

Steve, the dog with no powers that we let hang out with us all for some reason
Chapter 17 on Conquest and now I just starting to feel the difficulty spike on this campaign. Looks like I'll have to promote some units after all before reaching lvl 20.

By the way, after I finish this campaign and start a new one, can I carry over data/characters/etc for the new side? Or do I start from zero?

Something I just thought of about Conquest Chapter 14 in relation to Birthright

When I read that Garon wants all singers of the city/place disposed of, I immediately thought "RIP Layla (The singer Azura substitutes for in Birthright)"

Also, Keaton is adorable, and I made Fem!Corrin S-Rank with him

Soooo in Birthright ch. 21 what am I supposed to do if I accidentally hit a lava dragon vein instead of a bridge one...? I've waited 3 turns and nothing is happening, I'm basically stuck in this second portion of the map

Wait longer.

Yeah, it's stupid.

Holy shit, Birthright 23. What do I dooooo

Dragon Vein either triggers on where most of your forces are or Corrin, didn't stick around long enough to find out. The alleys are probably safe. A Beast Killer/Armorslayer and an archer/mage might be useful.

I'm about 45 hours in to my Birthright file. I'm on chapter 21. Most of this time has been spent support grinding. I feel like I missed out on that when it came to Awakening, so I'm almost obsessed with getting a 100% support log in Fates. It takes about 10 minutes and 7 to 8 battles to get a support to S rank, and this is just Birthright, so Conquest is gonna be interesting.

I spent about 20 hours to grind out all the support for the parents, then the children popped up. I just gave up.

Can't wait for the Vanguard DLC. I love having S rank on both axes and swords. Which units do you guys think are good candidates for that class?

Was doing Midori's paralogue for the first time when:

I let Candace run away. I felt so dumb when it happened, cause my team got pretty good level ups from the map. xD

What? There are dlc exclusive classes? And they level higher than default? Are they game breaking? If this is all outlined in the OP just respond OP haha but any synopsis is appreciated.

Yes

Yes. Though keep in mind that a level 40 special class is equivalent to a level 20 promoted class.

It depends. One of them (the upcoming Witch class) is seemingly OP, but the rest should be fine.

So I got to the point where most children I recruit come with better stats than their parents but I dont have enough money to use master seals on them.

Also, Galeforce was nerfed so Hard I cant believe it

If you wait until Chapter 18 onward, each child comes with an Offspring Seal that allows for a upgrade to an advanced class, plus some additional levels to make them catch up with the rest of your party. Do that.

I'm still on my first campaing, Birthright, and I just clocked 41 hours and I played Chapter 14 last night and OH BOY! I just went mad whern
Kaze died because I didn't have A support with him.
Thank God I saved before starting the Chapter like I always do... I restarted the save and began to
grind the support
, gonna tackle that Chapter again tonight
I AIN'T LOSING NO ONE.
.

BTW, been loving the game and can't wait to play the Conquest and Revelation, but I'm gonna enjoy each one to the fullest, so I'm taking my sweet time.

This game/series is really fucking up my playing other games and backlog clearing.

Ridiculously, I finally bought a ps4 recently, hooked it up, bought several games.......

....and then settled back down to play FE. My wife was like "why the fuck did you even spend $500 bucks when you are just gonna play with your 3ds?"

It's just so fun!

Do I have to beat chapter 18? Or just having access to chapter 18 is enough?

I wonder how Offspring Seals work mechanically. Do they just sim a certain number of level ups to get the child up to an appropriate level?

Yeah, the Offspring Seal automatically levels up your kids to a level appropriate to the story chapter you were at when you got them.

It's pretty much the same as you leveling them up, but with less variance (and no need to feed kills).

See, the less variance part is interesting to me. We know that the mother of a child affects their growth rates, so if the level ups from an Offspring Seal were simulated based on their true growth rates you should have a high probability of getting a different stat distribution on your level x child compared to another player's level x child with a different mom.

Here's an example of what I'm getting at. I plan on pairing Odin and Nyx which will give Ophelia a great Mag growth rate thanks to her mom. If I get that paralogue fairly far into the story and use an Offspring Seal to get her to, let's say, Level ~5 Sorcerer, will it consider that great Mag growth rate in her simulated level ups, or will every Level ~5 Ophelia sorcerer from an Offspring Seal be identical (or at least created from the same base Growth Rates)?

I know this is deep in the weeds but FE mechanics are just fun to figure out, haha.

Just started playing this a few days ago, had been some time since I played SRPG's. Last one I did finish was Front Mission 5. Definitely enjoying myself...

On a side note, anyone else feels the 3D models' arms are too long? My main character looks like Slenderman.

I've been curious about this too and I've been doing some experiments and taking some notes. It seems that the Offspring Seals do take the Child's current growth rates into account. I know this because I checked what my Mozu!Sophie's stats would be like after an Offspring Seal with Aptitude equipped and unequipped, and her Def and Res were one point higher each with Aptitude equipped. My Mozu!Sophie also had completely different stats than my Selena!Sophie from my prior Conquest playthrough, even though I got both of them after completing Birthright and Conquest's respective Chapter 18s for the earliest possible access to Offspring Seals.

I was surprised at how little trouble I had on that map. The shifting walls made it easy to manipulate the NPC so that he would take the longest path through the map and even on Lunatic he could take some hits vs the weaker Ninjas to stall him more. Every time I wanted to change the walls to slow him down it also happened to line up with when I wanted to change the walls to block off enemies from my main group. And he never ran into the reinforcements.

Honestly, I found it to be a very interesting map with how it played out. I could see it easily becoming frustrating, but it ended up working beautifully.

Constant enemy unit support in Conquest end game was cheap as fuck

as if the boss's fuck everything in it's way blunt move wasn't bad enough.

didn't even bother attacking the boss with Corrin for her dialogue I just wanted to end all of this.

phew

Revelation better not be as ridiculously hard.

Is there a list of best skills in the game and such?

  • Replicate(Mechanist)
  • Quixotic(Basara)
  • Dragon Fang (Hoshido/Nohr Prince/Princess)
  • Death Blow (Oni Chieftain)
  • Aegis(Paladin)
  • Pavise(General)
  • Aether(Great Lord*)
  • Sol(Hero)
  • Renewal(Priestess)
  • Luna (Great Knight)
  • Astra (Swordmaster)
  • Life Taker (Dark Knight)
  • Rend Heaven(Basara)
  • Galeforce(Dark Flier)
  • All of the Hoshido & Nohr Noble skills
These are generally regarded as the best skills, but there's probably more that I've neglected to mention. There are a lot of amazing skills in this game. It really depends on what kind of set up you're going for.
