Former Blizzard president predicts Battlefield 6 is going to 'boot stomp' Black Ops 7 because Call of Duty has become 'lazy'

Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra said that this year Battlefield 6 is going to "boot stomp" Call of Duty's guts out.

He defended his pick in a subsequent reply post, saying Call of Duty "has gone downhill for years" since Infinite Warfare in 2016. " It's a mess. Cheating, heavy UI/install, rainbow colors. People are sick of it. Luckily BF will force them to change it."

Mike crying and screaming about COD in the shower.

He's not wrong about the out of control cosmetics, it's absurd. If you're not staring at cell shaded shit or animal heads you're fucking blinded by custom tracer rounds.

Based Mike Ybarra shitting on rainbow colors?

Does BF6 have any wokeness, like out of place female combatants everywhere? Everything I've seen looks deliciously 360 era dudebro.

I don't think it will outsell Black Ops 7. it will take some of its market share, but Call of Duty had so many bad and "unpopular" releases, yet is still basically uncontested.

Modern Warfare II for example was atrocious... as was Black Ops 4. yet, it's still on top.

Ok but, none of that has to do with sales and reality. People call Madden, Fifa, Call Of Duty and AC series "lazy" yet seem to have zero real explanation on why they move those record units.

I don't think the people who play that IP give a shit tbh. They are moving those units cause they are doing something correct for that fanbase to continue to return.
Mhmmm.

I've heard this before.

I'm saying, its like this yearly, neck beard, OMG THIS IS IT BOYZ, COD WILL FLOP narrative.

I've once seen someone use YouTube downvotes to argue COD would flop and the game went on to move over 20 million units. From what I've seen, hardcore gamer's perspective on this rarely makes sense to actual reality and its like they don't get they don't speak for millions of gamers.

I'm buying BF6 day 1, I think it will be better then COD, however, I do not use that personal bias as some arguing point that COD will flop. The series has moved enough units to show its core install base has something they love about the IP that makes them return and they do it pretty fucking well if they've been able to maintain that top spot.

So...doubt.

it won't do shit to COD because they aren't even the same kind of games; the amount of time you could spend running to where the action is in BF, could be an entire game in any of its MP game modes in COD.

All that matters is that it's just a good game, and EA doesn't somehow find a way to screw it up.

As long as their is another good military shooter option on the tablet, CoD can throw as many dumbass costume vomit on their IP as they want.

Sadly, the only chance this happens is if they fuck up Battlefront and make it like CoD. And then it will lose to CoD.

I agree but the thing is: a CoD 'failure' will still sell more than most games in a given year and will not necessarily mean the series is on a downturn. See: CoD Ghosts and CoD Infinite Warfare.

so even if BF6 kicks cod's ass, its won the battle not the war lol

The first few months of a new COD seem to be the best. Stuff generally feels on theme, mostly feels like I'm playing my fast paced military shooter. Some of zombie non-sense seeps in, but it's generally tolerable.
After a season or two, though, it goes to shit. Niki Minaj skins, new weapons fuck the balance, and SBMM has done its damage. Instead of a military shooter, I'm playing Fortnite. I gave up on BO6 when the Turtles came on board. Way too distracting for me.

Lmao just no, totally different games and BOPS7 will vastly outsell BF6 and also produce 100x the income with the rainbow coloured shit.

Looks like they are just going all in straight of the bat with this new one..........pre order skins

Probably all guest characters they add to CoD (it's like fortnite). Plus all the wacky customization for guns that do all kinds of cartoony shit.
Ah ok, thanks.
So colours apart from brown and grey are bad for the badass dudebros here, the colours are there in spades because the games are mostly played by kids who love Fortnite?

This is the guy who, during his tenure as CEO of Blizzard, sold WoW Raid/Dungeon boosts where people paid real money to have the game's best gear funneled to them. This guy is the Grand Wizard of Clowns.

Modern CoD is a joke.

But there are too many people invested in cod for it to fail. It's like having left your ex, but you eventually goes back because you've been used to toxicity.
