The old Beetle is hilarious. It can only go about 60mph. Some night we should have a Beetle only custom race.

Same here. I just made a somewhat crappy checkered flag, I would have only made it 100, but made it 1,000. Hell, does it even need to be sold for credits for the cheevo to pop? Not that 1,000 breaks anyone's bank...

Am I missing something or is there no way to launch directly to a Rival event from the message box leting you know a rival beat your time?
I could swear in F4 you could launch directly to the event.
All I am seeing is a link to set a waypoint back to race central and then you need to scour the lists to find said event and then find your rival??

Man, I've been playing a lot of King and Infected lately. With a talkative group they can be ridiculously fun. I also got the chance to play some awesome Cat and Mouse races last night.
After like 200 multiplayer races/events played my favorite events are:
1. Point to Point races. So many good tracks!
2. Infected. Balls to the wall, goofy-ass fun.
3. Street races. Again, a lot of great tracks. I just wish the open rooms had a little more variety. As it stands, 85% of the open rooms are the Freeway Blast track (long with few turns) with R1 class cars.
4. King and the rest.
I really love the variety of different cars people race online. In my time with Forza 2 & 3, usually one or two certain cars would dominate every class online. Here, while there are a few cars that are stupid fast that I do see quite often (Lancer Evolution VI GSR in A and S class), it's not like every single person in the race are using them.
I really only have a one small problem with the game: When people talk during a race, we really need to have some sort of indicator so you can see who is talking. I'd be shocked if they didn't patch that in at some point.

So I bought the game yesterday on a whim and they gave me all this pre-order stuff; 3 cars and steelbook case.

I did, (with liberal use of rewind), and regret nothing. Fuck you, Flynt. Go back to shooting shitty cologne ads, you pompous, self-centered prick.
Dude's 599XX clearly had warp engines as he-- more than once-- erased 10+ second leads I'd built up in a matter of seconds, but I countered by cutting across several sections of the map with off-road excursions. I'm pretty sure the Zonda R wasn't designed to tackle 40% grades at 150 mph, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.
I thought it was a bit odd that the penultimate 5-lap circuit race had a payout of 10 million Cr, but the final showdown with the game's big bad around the entire map was a mere 100K. :shrugs
Well then he beat a Zonda with a Mini. Nice!

But now that I think about it, one of the cars was a Ferrari and there are no Ferraris in me garage so maybe my codes didn't work either?
Yup I was one of the Gaffer who never got a pre-order code cause Futureshops here in Canada reallly sucks...anyway
The Ferrari 458 code only unlocks the car but you still have to buy it in the autoshow.

Was just in a free roam session with a couple gaffers, and I saw the challenges menu that explains the goals afterward. I see now what the drifting thing was about - we were so close. Next time...
There's one to ride 8,000 mi (or km?) that pays out 5,000,000. Man, wonder how long that would take? I assume it doesn't carry over from session to session. If you had 8 players, 1000 miles each, hmm...could take a while.

I pre-ordered the game at the Futureshop on Sainte-Catherine in Montréal. I got my steelcase but the guy said they hadn't received the codes (that was on release day...don't know if they got them since).
That sucks cause I love the 458 but anyway..I'm pretty much done with the game now. I did everything I could do except for the multi (I did freeroam which was fun but no other races).
I finally got the rank 1 popularity yesterday. Won all the races and showcases. Was a ton of fun but I'm probably gonna retire the game now. I may come back for the Rally DLC if it looks good.

Well I'm not much of a multiplayer guy so once I've donne everything there is to do in the the singleplayer there's not much left to do. I loved every single minutes of it tho...
And yeah the 458 Spider (the convertible) is available in the base game.
No it does carry over from session to session. Every challenge does. Would be kinda crazy if not.

I preordered for the 458, but it has the convertible version in the game already. I would have rather had the Aston Martin or AMG preorder cars now.

Where did my afternoon go? I spent nearly six hours with this game today, mostly on single player and a few multiplayer races. 15 hours in and I think this is in my top three games of the year along with XCOM and Diablo III. The most satisfying handling in any racing game I have ever played.

At least his insults have some "pop" to them, unlike Hailey's. My god those were some awful lines.

Don't think I've hit the 10% mark yet.
I keep going back to Forza 4 as its easier to play in short bursts, haven't given up on Horizon at all but at this rate it should be finished around the time the expansion arrives.

I've been doing the same thing. Horizon really should be like Forza 101. Playing it first gives you a great sense of handling and racing lines but is arcadey enough to make it forgiving. Then when you play FM4 I find I have a much better sense of how to handle turns and each cars' unique handling.

Something that has always irked me in Forza games is that every car has ridiculously tall gear ratios and this is exaggerated badly in Horizon. I mean, why in the fuck am I still in 3rd gear at 200kph in a damn pick up truck?
My main car to drive around is the Aventador and it's almost as bad.
I haven't been able to adjust my gearbox yet and I'm afraid to ask if I'll ever be able to.
