Game of Thrones - Season 2 - George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire - Sundays on HBO

God. I loved this episode.

I loved the scene between Bran and Theon. How he was teaching him how to lead, while at the same time, occupying his castle.

Also. Tyrion and Joffrey. Joffrey was so naive in this episode that he was almost sympathetic. He thinks that the rebellion is limited to a few people throwing sticks at him.

Also. The growing bond between Tywn and Arya.

Wow, that one surely deviated a lot from the books. I guess it is in some ways necessary for an adaption though.

Deviating or not, I'd say this is probably the best episode of this season. Ygritte casting is just perfect, another point for D&D on that matter. Harrenhal is great and Tywin/Arya have some great scenes together, even if they don't really make that much sense from series point of view.

Dany was just illogical and boring, but that's expected from her. *yawn*

Edit:

Did you guys hear that Xaro is the richest man in Qarth? Not sure if anyone heard that Xaro is the richest man in Qarth. He used to be poor but now he's the richest man in Qarth.

Nailed the character!

Nice episode. It'll be interesting to see what they're doing with Dany now. All I thought while watching was, "Hm. Well, this is new."

Also, dat ygritte.

I'd watch a Tywin Lannister and Arya spin off show. Just saying.

In before shipping videos in 3... 2... 1...

How feasible is it to just stop producing a show for a year or two and then 'round the gang back up' after the next book is out.

Honestly, I don't think its very feasible at all unless they performed substantial re-writes for the younger cast & some how pared down they very large cast to a more manageable number.

I think its more likely that an alternative ending to the show is written (sadly).

I'm not sure why anyone would expect differently. It's not like GRRM is going to finish this series in a timeframe that would be useful to the show. Finishing it on their own is better than canceling it, especially when most of the people watching the show don't give a fuck about the books.

Man, I'm astonished at how little a fuck I give about Daenerys, and her whole situation. I don't care ONE bit about what she's doing.

Fuck you Daenerys. Fuck yo famlay.

I'm with you. There's just not much there with her character this season. I swear to god, if I have to listen to her "I AM DAENERYS STORMBORN, MOTHER OF DRAGONS, MY FURY WILL SOMETHING SOMETHING" wavering-rage voice for another episode...Not feeling the writing nor Emilia's work this season, I feel like she's regressed.

Episode was good, but I do feel like it had some weak points. Ygritte is awesome, but that whole sequence was a lesson in, "Okay, don't do this." Let's leave the rookie alone with a wildling!

Daeny scenes were, as mentioned, repetitive and just a bit annoying. At this point last season, she had gone from a scared "prize" bride to a woman who embraced a new culture, husband, and her own sense of power. All she's gotten to do this season was be scared and yell. Last episode had some good development (WE NEED MORE JORAH), but this...eh. I did think her "my dreams come true" angle was compelling, though.

There was some other scene

There was a lot to love, though. I really wish Robb had more scenes--there's a lot to love about his character and all of his scenes this season have been great.

Of course, Tywin/Arya is good as ever, though having that guard killed like that was a little too convenient. I'll take it, though. And I am starting to like Littlefinger, or at least his character--he's very interesting to watch, and the wine scene was GREAT.

Really enjoyed the Winterfell scenes and can't wait to see how it plays out. Right when Theon was getting likeable...It was heartbreaking to watch those scenes. Bran was fantastic, as was Luwin.

Good episode, but I do worry if they're going to give any measurable meat to Daeny in these last four episodes.

Dany's scenes this last episode were fine on their own, the problem is they had the exact same stuff when they arrived in Qarth.

I don't like how in Ep.5 (ASoS)
Arya chose the tickler, because now one of my favourite parts of ASoS won't be on screen.
No doubt this came up in here when the episode aired but I'm just catching up.

Am I the only one thinking ACOK
What's going on with Dontos?
Are they saving that for next season since ASOS
Her escape isn't until after the Red Wedding.

I guess that makes sense when I think about it.

WHAT?!

[ASoS]
No one goes into epic god mode right away...it would be laughable. I think this nicely contrasting how she can grow where her brother couldn't.

i don't think that's fair. she was born lucky. or born with the genes to survive in fire, and somehow hatch dragons. if she couldn't do that, i could see her becoming just like him over time.

there's so many beautiful women on this show. love it.

already mentioned, but tonks' body was fuckin bangin

See, this is why they should have kept Asha as "Asha." Everybody just calls her Tonks.

Anyone else feel like the Dany scene with the spice guy took way too long? Seemed like it was just the same thing over and over like

can i have ships? no. but im a princess. No. But this is how I got dragons. No. But I need the ships. No.

Didn't help her character much she felt like a beggar with entitlement issues. Reminded me of Viserys without the crazy.

That's because she actually is viserys with the crazy and tv viewiers are just seeing this shit now.

I'm a lot less patient with Dany scenes now that Emilia Clarke is always clothed.

Waiting for the "*NO TV SHOW SPOILERS* The Winds of Winter Official Book Discussion Thread".

I just did the stupidest thing. I Googled "The Winds of Winter" to see if there was news on when it might be coming and the first page I found started its description with a major spoiler from ADWD. God damn it. God damn it.

Let me begin by expressing my love for the books first off, and how I enjoy the TV series for what it is for moments like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZC17aHZ4Dw. That is in my opinion the best scene this show has put of screen. It is from the first season.

What I'm realizing is the first season felt truer to the books than this season. It might be the pacing that's different.

One of my favorite scenes, too. Barristan was awesome.

I guess that makes sense when I think about it.

I assume so. In the novels ACOK/ASOS
They establish that early, and it has little to no development for a long time. They introduced the character in the first episode this season, so Sansa saved him, but the meetings in the Godswood can be pushed back.

I can't honestly imagine anyone enjoying Dany who's read the books. She's such a child.

The only good targ is a dead targ, in the sense that Rhaegar is dead :(

I like Dany. She's basically meowing to people while she learns how to properly roar. Plus, she's hot. She's a great character.

I have enjoyed her story throughout the books. I like learning bits and pieces about House Targaryen.
