Oh man.
Ok, where do we rant about ToF?
Go for it, there's nothing in Genshin worth talking about unless you want to write an essay on why you're excited for the Mechanical Painting event. I'm curious what you guys think.
They literally drown you in gacha currency. I thought the purple stones were just for weapon upgrade mats and stuff, kinda like a junk gacha, but then last night I rolled both an SSR and an SR character in a purple stone 10x roll. There's also a hidden 30 pity to get an SSR for the first run of the orange stone banner, and unlike Genshin, they don't reset pity if you pull a max rarity character before the pity, so every 80 pulls you guarantee an SSR regardless of if you get lucky or not.
Also, according to CN players, after a few months and a few reruns, the limited characters get added to the standard banners, which is pretty cool. The downside, after some research, is that the characters are fuck all other than a character skin like in Fartnite. Since you make your own character at the start of the game anyways, it feels like the characters mean absolutely nothing. They have 2 weak passives per character that you can unlock by shoving gifts in their mouths for weeks on end, but they're hilariously useless perks so far, like "extra 100 hp healed every time you receive a heal" when at level 18 I'm already at 7000 HP, and the max level is 80. At that point, you probably have up to 100k HP, and the extra 100hp tick seems absolutely hilariously stupid.
I unlocked the vehicle. It's very "MMO mount"-ish, there's no animation, it just spawns underneath you and then disappears if you take any action other than move or jump. It gives a boost to movement speed though, as advertised, so it makes getting around a little faster. I like that unlike Genshin, the fast travel spots are fewer and further apart, so you actually have to spend some time traversing the world. There are a ton of respawning chests, so it's semi-worthwhile to keep your eyes open even after you've cleared an area.
The story has been very "it's here because we have to have one". I don't care about any of the characters, and they're just making shit up as you move through it, it has no weight, and truthfully your character seems to have no purpose other than to just do whatever people ask him to do. Again, very much like an MMO.
Apparently there's PVP, but I won't be touching that.
