Genshin Impact |OT| 5.0 (Natlan) - Everything Changed When the Fire Nation Arrived

After you do all the mailbox treasure map stuff, you unlock a room full of chests. Every 5 Aranara you find opens a new chest. I have 3 chests left, so I have somewhere around ~15 left to find. Nothing official that tracks it as far as I know.

Man, I don't even bother for all that work for 5 primogems. I didn't know that Anna becomes an adventurer though, I thought her story ended after she climbed the windmill. I still have 2 achievement categories related to Mondstadt/Lyue dailies, but there's no way I'm going to actively aim for those. Sumeru's comissions have been kinda a let down, other than the jumping/light chasing ones which are kinda fun.
I wouldn't say I was actively aiming for these achievements. I stuck with Mondstadt for awhile since their commissions are pretty fast to complete. I'll probably switch to Sumeru for a change of pace.

For the Anna commission string, after curing her, you need to get commissions from her brother to find her in a couple of hard to reach spots in Mondstadt. Once you finish those, she joins the Adventurers' Guild as a trainee and you get a couple commissions to help her train. Finally, you accompany her on a her first job, which is escorting a slime balloon, and this triggers an achievement.

Thanks to commission RNG BS, last week I received Anna's slime balloon commission 3 days in a row. The text does change and Anna seems concerned about getting the same commission again, & the Traveler is like "Yeah, about that....". Apparently there is also a version of her commission where you encounter Fischl & Bennett, but I haven't seen that.

So I've been building Mona as a carry DPS/Electro-Charged driver, and experimented with her weapon now that she's 9/12/12 talents, and unexpectedly the Skyward Atlas seems to give me the best consistent results. Widsth has the highest highs when the right buff hits, the BP Catalyst isn't nearly as good as it looks on paper for this playstyle. I really expected more out of the Sacred Winds book, but the fact that you need to stay on-field to keep the full effect is kinda the wash there. If the time required to build stacks wasn't so high, it could be an option. As it is, you need 16 seconds of field time to get the max buff, which disappears as soon as you swap characters.

The only thing that sucks is that I basically NEED a crit hat because I'm getting nothing from the weapon with the Atlas, so I guess I'll be farming Heart of Depth artifacts, or maybe just feeding into a strongbox for it. I have to say though, I've been having a fair amount of fun with a team of Mona/Fischl/Dendro Traveler/Jean. It'd probably be a better team with a second electro source like Beidou's burst, so I might play around with that. I do like launching the hyberbloom missiles though and it's nice to finally be able to use the traveler somewhere without feeling like I'm gimping myself. If only his burst wasn't 80 damn energy, because it's actually a really good burst.

Just unlocking rep level 2 in Sumeru is a pain in the ass. The world quests in the zone are hard to fine, long and boring.

I still don't did those quest to get misserable 20 exp reward.

BTW, is someone here gonna try the weapon banner? As soon as I get Nillou, I'll give a try. Those new gancha weapons looking good.

And with that I have every farmable mount in the game so far. It'll take some time until I can unlock the Artificial Island motorcycle, since it's meant to be a long term goal.

how the fuck

Do you afk farm?

One of the commissions won't even spawn until you go do a mini world quest at the Wangshu Inn and cook a guy some radish soup.
Wait, what?

No AFK farming, that's actively killing for each drop. I didn't even have Zero (the afk-capable character) until yesterday when I got him from a gold nucleus pull. It really wasn't so bad. I'd have the game up on my phone while I was watching tv with the gf or whatever and just kill him when he'd spawn, then look away for a few minuets. I don't mind grinding in really any kind of game, it's almost therapeutic for me.

Regarding the Sumeru daily, if you go to Wangshu Inn in Liyue, there will be 2 guys near the ground level arguing about radish soup. You talk to them and do a quick quest and that opens up a whole Sumeru comission line (I think there are 3 you have to get) and finally a world quest that's tracked by the rep vendor.

There are also 2 more Sumeru hidden quests you have to do to get the related commissions to open up. One related to that puzzle you start at the Adventurer's Guild postboard and I forget the other one.

I found this for the riddle thing:

The other one I was a little off for, it's that you have to get 3 daily commissions from the fishing guy in the Port to unlock a world quest. Something about "the expert hookshot" or something.

I've done the riddle already, like the first days of release even. And I've done just yesterday the 3rd hook commission. I thought you were talking about yet another one.

Just realized the wish history screen switched from 6 per page to 5 per page.

FYI for those that use that to keep track of your pity.

I got the Anna achievement on my farm account but not my 2 year old account...

So this is the first artist's rendition of a leak of Layla, a character mentioned a few times in "about" voicelines from various characters. Should be released during 3.X, but unsure if she's from Sumeru or somewhere else.

Maybe our first Cryo Catalyst? Perma-freeze team hopium? If they're making her have Bronya's design, she HAS to be a 5*. Bronya is one of the 3 major characters in Honkai and she's already got multiple versions in Star Rail, which isn't even out yet.

Here's what I imagine based on the info:

Drill hair is always great. Question is: when?

That banner leak from earlier seems to be fake, maybe? They said we'd get Eula in 3.1 but it ended up being Albedo.

Here's a leak-tier image of her and Kusanali's splash art:
They like giving the archons giant splash art, huh?

If I remember correctly there were rumors about a new cryo DPS character that would release in Sumeru a long time ago. Could that be true after all?

Looks that way. Kinda ironic since Cryo is the least compatible element to Dendro. I'd honestly rather they give us a bigger selection of Dendro for different roles. Like healer/support/DPS

Yeah, the timing is strange. I don't really get Ganyu, Venti and Albedo's reruns either. None of this helps to convince people to invest in Dendro.

I really like those drills though, so they got me regardless. If they're showing her splash art alongside Kusanali, I assume she's coming up soon-ish. Kusanali cons might be off the table for me.

Watch her kit be Cryo Nilou and be something like "only works if your party is exclusively Cryo and Geo characters, and only at night, and only if your artifacts have less than 50% crit"

After seeing that spash, I wonder if she's a 4* cryo sword to go along with Kusanali on her banner? Actually, with an archon, they don't need to put a 4* to incentivize pulling, so probably not now that I think about it.

If we're already getting splash art, I expect the full design and kit will be leaked in a few days.

Both Zhongli and Shogun had new 4 stars on their banner though. It's definitely a possibility.

The leaks are going to be interesting soon. I really hope Kusanali is gonna be fun.

Adding cryo characters is going to be tough going forward since we already have so many options and most roles are filled by existing 4 & 5 star characters. They'll really need to lean on character design or some unique gameplay to garner interest (or release a cyro catalyst user).

Hoping that Kusanali is legit since I'm more interested in adding interesting dendro characters than I am about adding other elemental characters that are designed around dendro, like Nilou.

-She is cryo sword
-She is a shield meta
-Leaker desactived his account.
Oh, I wonder if this is the eventual kit of "Kate" from the super early Genshin Alpha.

Featured-Kate-Genshin-Impact-Cropped-1.jpg

I read that she was Cryo Sword and had a shield focused kit. But then I also read that she was the prototype for Ayaka, so who knows what to believe. It's not like we ever had any really good footage of her anyways, and they obviously gave Layla a new design. Probably unrelated but interesting all the same.

Wasn't Ayaka part of the alpha game?

Back before she had a diaper on, yea, but I think Ayaka was in the Beta. I guess you could consider Kate Pre-Alpha then? Her model was in the first big data leak when we first got the dev client like a year or so ago, along with skill descriptions. It was in that same batch of data that showed us early Kokomi/Shenhe designs that ended up changing before they released.

It's not normal to be this bored just after a new big zone has been added.
Would you really want to be still at it until 3.1 drops next week? I wouldn't. I'm glad they included a mini break. I felt that I really had to work to hit that 40% explored rep reward. Still, we have more events now than any time in the past a week before a new patch drops. Usually by now everyone's done with BP, there are no events, and nothing to do. Today the last room of the current battle event dropped. They even threw in a double leyline for good measure.

I might suggest to try not using guides from the get-go as well. That turns the game from having fun exploring into checking boxes off a list, which can't be 'fun'. I never use guides until I get stuck at a point that I can't find anything else to progress. It does make it messier to find what you're missing vs what you already got, but at least I actually feel like I'm doing exploring instead of going through the motions. No hate if you prefer to look everything up though, I know a lot of people do it that way.

Limiting your progress was not a smart ideia from MYH part.

I think it's more on the notes that I don't find the exploration in Sumeru very fun. They made it too convoluted and dense and it's just not as fun to explore the scenery.

I don't use guides, but every time I find something I mark it on the online map. Otherwise, going to look for that last aranara or last seelie would be a fucking nightmare.

I think you guys are probably outliers on how quickly you completed exploring the first portion of Sumeru. I've been playing everyday since 3.0 launched, but I haven't had any marathon play sessions, so I'm at 37% on reputation exploration tracker. I'm wrapping a lot of stuff up this week, so the timing of the lighter events leading into 3.1 is almost ideal for me.

I've really enjoyed exploring Sumeru so far. My only complaints on this patch are:

1. Right when 3.0 dropped, I really wanted to explore, but I quickly discovered that a lot of progress was gated behind completing the Archon and Arananra quests series. Both were pretty long and I would have liked to be able to pace these out better.
2. The current map system is inadequate for dealing with the underground system in Sumeru. Fortunately, the fans are stepping up as shown in Pejo Pejo 's last post, but going forward, an in-game map upgrade would be ideal.

Yea I'm definitely an outlier, I usually no-life a new area the weekend after it releases. Even so, Sumeru's first areas have felt like the biggest areas to date. I mentioned I only hit 40% explored just a few days ago, and my %s for indivial locations are:

Agree on both points. They frontloaded this patch way too much, to have simultaneous events running while you also need to do main stories while you also need to build a Dendro character while you also need to unlock waypoints etc etc. I'm 50/50 on my opinion of gating things behind the story quests. On one hand, it sucks. On the other hand, it does gradually introduce you to each function, new enemy type, and new traversal mechanic added in the patch, so I understand why they did it. I also think that this area more than any other has done a good job of quests/events directing you to areas you wouldn't normally go while just exploring around to find chests/world quest activities that you might have missed. That must be fairly complex to build and plan out correctly while you're also designing an area from scratch. The amount of hidden chests feels just about right. I just wish there was a better in-game metric for completion stats, or that the treasure compass gadgets would find and ping every type of chest (puzzle/activity/hidden/normal) It'd also be good for me (though some would hate it) to have an in-game count of how many chests are still unopened in a given area. The fact that I have 100% in several areas despite me still running into chests in each of them is kinda annoying.

Underground maps need to be included in the official maps. There's no excuse for not having it. That's going on my "sure to be read" feedback from now until it's added.

I got three commission from Sumeru and one from Mondstad. Wtf.
Happened to me in Inazuma a few times.

I'm wondering what the fuck I'm missing in Old Vanarana, nearly 20% unexplored there and I can't find a single area that has anything. It has to be something big underground that I'm missing.
If I remember correctly, you've done the hidden quest. Apart from that I have no idea. Time for you to ask the online map. There isn't much in Lost Nursery anyway.

There's 2 hidden tunnels in the big drop next to the one waypoint.

There's a hidden quest for an achievement visiting Colli's house 2 days in a row interacting with her desk and flower
