Ghost of Yotei |OT| Jin there, done that

For what it's worth, I played one normal difficulty, but I beat him today using the bounty master armor in conjunction with these charms:

Charm of Mount Yotei
Takezo's Charm of Bold Deflection
Charm of Maskado
Father's Charm
Charm of Futsunushi

Just try to get your parry game in order and you'll beat him pretty quick like this.
quest doesnt trigger w/o 5 Takez charm oO correct if im wrong ^^

Really enjoying the way skills unlock in this game. Instead of just gaining generic XP to then spend on skill trees, you get one upgrade point to immediately spend after completing a contextually relevant "thing", ie complete a wolf mission, you must then spend a point on the wolf tree etc.

Too bad 95% of the skill tree is garbage and filled with arbitrary nonsense. You never feel like you're working towards something, it's all just "that's neat I guess, maybe" slop.

It is unreal how bad the skill tree, the unlocks, the progression system and the economy are in this game. They worked on this thing for 5 years and this is the best they could come up with. Bizarre.

The hell is that?

It's Rocket: Robot on Wheels. First game by SP for N64.

Yeah, truly deep lore moment.

Very much disagree!

Pretty much disagree with all your takes when it comes to this game...

Terrible ending happened exactly how you think it's going to. I really was expecting a simple 2 endings with an obv choice between 2 characters, but nope, they went even lamer than that.

Overall a fun game with amazing environmental visuals and armor details that gets waaaay too cut & paste with the various content mission reusage, just like the first one.

From what I am reading in this thread, looks like Ubisoft style of open world design might be coming to an end from most open worlds.

Earlier this year we had Avowed, that doesn't follow that formula, apparently this also has moved on.

Good sign of things to come.
I'm confused, minus the go climb a tower to uncover map… this is definitely the Ubisoft formula?

Ubisoft formula to me is game offering a ton of activities, without me putting any effort to know the land. After that, chasing markers so am always doing that.

Haven't played this game so not sure where this lands.

But yeah, different people have different views on what makes a Ubisoft game.

Normally a open world with interesting level design is a must for me to enjoy. Anything with flat-ish geography gets old really fast.

If you haven't played this yet then let me save you some time if you think this is better than AC Shadows : it's not. I'd argue they are exactly the same in quality in almost every single facet, and even mission design. So if you like this when you play it then play AC Shadows as well.

AC Shadows has one better thing which is a transmog system. And also a way better skill tree progression system. You really get powerful with the correct pairings.

This game is slop and I just made it to chapter 2 at around 45 hours played.

This didn't deserve any of the high score it has. It basically has nothing new to offer after hour 20, and then proceeds to go on for another 40 hours. And if the spoiler up there for the ending is true… holy fuck what a waste of time.

I'd rate AC Shadows maybe a 7.5/10 from the 30 hours I played, and this barely constitutes a 6/10 at hour 45.

For reference the 127 hours I played of something like kingdom come deliverance 2 is a 9.5/10 absolute wet dream for an open world game.

Kitsune done, now it's the oni turn.

Best thing about the whole quest where the enemies hiding, the kitsune itself was a pretty shitty villain overall, and yeah the puzzles were made for 2 years old kids, you don't even need the piece of paper for obvious reasons...

Hopefully the oni is better because the glimpse you have about the dragon and the spider is not promising at all...

Myths sidequest are also inferior to tsushima, at least the 2 i did.

If the game remain the same until the end i can see scoring the same as tsushi, some things are better, some are worse.

Just wanna say ''what''?
1. When you meet the storyteller at his home. He will state this about his house; at least it doesnt leak. Climb on the roof and its full of holes
2. When you meet a couple that is struggling and yet you take their 450 coins.
3. When a boy has no money to support his grandfather and yet you take his 450 coins

lol.

I dunno man, I still have a lot of locked/unknown skill trees but the ones I've chosen to unlock have all mostly made a difference. I dumped all early points into assassination, the wolf points do make a difference, the new moves also. Things like health aren't levelled by skill trees and are handled by visiting spas, so not necessary there. There does seem to be a lack of unlockable combos tho for sure.

if u rly think AC: shadows is better than ghost maybe seek help from ur local mentalhospital :P

KDC2 is buggy FP with super janky gameplay like GTAV and RDR2 and GTA6 will be prolly same ^^

There are shit takes and then there's this

Yotei is much, much better than Shadows. Story, characters, missions, combat, sidequests, world design etc.

And I've enjoyed Shadows, mind you

I love the invention in this game of "squeezing" between rocks....every other 10 minutes. 🙄

Yeah.....also overdone. I just finished the Kitsune part and now I'm in the final area. The game just told me this is "Chapter Two". Weirdest chapter placement I've ever seen.

Still, the game is a blast. Really loving stealth now. Got a few more trophies to clean up then I can finish the story.

At the second main boss now. Game is fun. Fast travel is great. Needs frontal at the hot springs. (assuming she doesn't have a weiner).

Oh, and I will never change my horse. He has been through hell with me, and he deserves my love and protection.

PS5 is saying the game progression, which only focuses on the main story, is at 50% when you hit chapter 2.

This is where I'm sort of throwing in the towel.

The game is bloated like every open world game and it's beyond formulaic. I'll say at least the Kitsune area tried to spice it up slightly with puzzle boxes and ambushes but you're still :
-Buying maps
-Go to location to bathe, cut bamboo, pray to a shrine, hunt a bounty, follow a fox
-Scripted story beats, shimmy through this, stealth kill that, fight a boss that is the same as the last 20 bosses
-Ride horse follow wind

This is absolutely a 20 hour game stretched immensely thin. The combat is good on harder difficulties, but the story is meh and I don't feel gripped enough to see Atsus story to the finish.

I broke down and bought it this weekend. Not bad.

The dev did eventually make the right moves with some of my issues so I decided to bite. The only real thing I had left against the game was casting Erika Ishii to play Atsu which was a mistake.

That said, she does a serviceable VA job here and the story is fun. Graphics are quite good on PS5 Pro.

The biggest change is basically the main character and there was also a bit less buildup to the story here, it just kinda drops you off. Will report back once I get further in. So far it feels like a really well done side game for the series, but if GoT2 ever came out with Jin that continued his story I doubt this one would be remembered much....so while it is skippable, it's still like a 8.5/10 open world fun game with a good story and you are probably hurting yourself not playing it...but I understand and accept your decision.

I like the story better than Tsushima. Atsu is a good character. It's just weird how they paced out the 'yotei six'. First one was in the dang tutorial. Second and third took far too long. Four and five seem to be a two-for-one combo. I'd say 95% of the map was killing the first three and that's chapter one? Just seems bonkers to organize it this way. Curious how much they will draw out the last three.

The open world tropes are better than most I'd say, but I get your point about that stuff being formulaic.

I don't think I ever used much stealth.

With all the upgrades and a charm, you can take out 5 enemies with a single standoff and at least one or two of them drop the throwable weapons which are almost always instant kills.

That ended up being much more effective for me.

I use stealth for taking out the camps. Stealth kills and bow. That's just the fun way for me.

Bruh i hate how every single bounty or hideout boss NEVER fights you 1 on 1.
Actual bums. Ran around with the andying set all day with 4 of the 5 weapon related leveling charms and its pretty awesome.

Slowly becoming my fav armor ..

Having a blast with it, around 25h and killed Snake + Oni for now. Feeling like a true sequel, respecting what made the first game great and improving many aspects. Can't wait to finish the game and try Legends when it releases.

I've just started using the Kusarigama in stealth situations and it's pretty awesome. I like to take out camps by initially using stealth to thin out the numbers, then finishing them off with a bit of good old fashioned combat.

I'm 3 down with 3 to go, though I suspect I may still need to take out the dude who escaped (Dojun?).
