GOG's #NoDRM Summer Sale [UP: Last day]

That massive thread by Mama Robotnik on the Kain series and this sale made it impossible for me to resist completing my collection of these games on PC.

I'm curious how these hold up today. I loved the story and voice acting in Soul Reaver but I remember feeling SR2 mechanics were dated when it released. I guess it depends on your tolerance for box puzzles. The Kain series was much more enjoyable mechanically even if I didn't care for those stories. I guess it's hard to argue with $5.96 for all of them.

I picked up FTL today. I really want to try Fez but Phil Fish has always rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe that's a dumb way of looking at things. Decisions, Decisions.

I'll be adding Deus Ex and Omikron: The Nomad Soul to my GoG collection before the sale is over. I've never tried Omikron but I really like what David Cage tries to do with his games even if they are greatly flawed.

I think I'll get FTL on the official site instead (its 2.49 as well) since gog has no Linux version.
Whaa? I learned my lesson. Always check GAF first.

Think of it this way: if Fez is an expression of Phil Fish, and you like Fez, then you like Phil Fish. I wouldn't want to realize that either.

I like Fez. I think Phil Fish is a nincompoop. Therefore, Fez is not an expression of Phil Fish. Everyone wins!

I'm guessing there's now way to combine purchases into a single transaction for these? I've got stuff from about 10 of these that I want to pick up but this is the kind of thing that usually triggers a fraud warning from my CC or my bank.

Holy crap, so much stuff. How's Omerta? Comparable to something? Good, Bad?

OMG, Legacy of Kain bundle on sale! So fucking great! After Mama Robotnik's great thread about the LoK saga I was really tempted to dig out my old CD of Soul Reaver and finally beat the game. Now I think I'll get the whole bundle instead^^ (good thing I'm not interested in Blood Omen 1).

Yes, FTL daily-deal, good thing I waited for it!

Skimming through the list of discounted games, is I.G.I. 2: Covert Strike any good? I heard great things about the predecessor but I think IGI 2 is weaker than 1, isn't it? I really want to play an old-school (stealth-)shooter again with massive open maps and gameplay like "here are your objectives, go look for yourself how to achieve them, don't expect any help from the game".

Ooooooh, my backlog! At least my wallet is not aching that much (6.60 € for 5 great games is almost ridiculous)^^

Pretty bad. The problem with the game is that, while cheap on your wallet at this point, is not cheap on your time. There's just not enough meat in the game-it makes a much better demo than full-fledged title.

Jesus... so much stuff. I'm almost inclined to buy Fez despite my dislike of Phil Fish. Definitely going to pick up some of these packs.

Alright hopefully you guys can help me out here.

Need some input on if the Book of Unwritten Tales is good.

Also, how are the Daedalic Adventure games? Seriously considering picking that bundle up, they look pretty good.

But damn is this a nice sale!

really considering buying the D&D pack, but I'm wondering how easy most of these games are to play on a Macbook Air (really limited space here, so wine is basically my only option)? I suspect the 2d ones would run well without much pain but I'm skeptical as to NWN2 (though I'd love to be able to take it with me wherever and... hopefully... have it run semi-decently)

hell, even if NWN can't play PS:T + BG2 are worth it at that price alone so I'm just curious.

I wish someione would have a sale on Resident Evil: Revelation already.

I want to give it a shot since it is an old school RE (somewhat), but I am NOT paying 50 for it.

Glad I finally decided to click on this thread. Didn't realize GOG had expanded it's selection so greatly. $5 Fez bought! Been waiting for that one.

Defender's Quest is totally worth the asking price, if you're into the kind of tower defense where you don't build your own maze.

I don't think the second game would run very well, but the first would likely be okay and the Infinity Engine games play fine through Wine or GemRB.

I picked up System Shock 2 (one of my favorite games of all time) and FTL: Faster Than Light (which is really cool).

Almost brings a tear to my eye how beautiful System Shock 2 looks and runs with all the mods/patches applied. I remember having a hellish time trying to get the game to run, period, several years ago, and to see it alive and well on a modern-day distribution service is just wonderful.

It plays and looks just as great as I remember it. Had to quit early on, though; I could feel myself getting sucked into the game. I shall replay it soon, however!

I bought 7 games for 19 dollars + change, had a discount of about 69 dollars. that's pretty good. i'm never even going to play these games.

I'll be getting System Shock 2 for sure. But, hmm, all these other deals..

So that Wadjet Eye collection is very good, right?
If Gemini Rue is any indication of how good the rest of those games are, yeah, it's very good if you like point and click adventures. But that's just an assumption based on one game. Hopefully someone else can give more detail.

Is Primordia any good? It's the only game I don't already own from that collection. $1.99 is a bit steep for my blood.

I just started Gemini but so far it's a solid step above the first two Blackwell games, which I thought were just "decent".

Bought these :

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2
Unreal Tournament 2004 ECE
Unreal Tournament GOTY
Unreal Gold
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum!

And i just start playing Unreal and UT99 with DX10 fix. I did not believe it when i saw it people are still playing UT99 and 2004. My nostalgia feelings went to my bones and it still looks fantastic with DX10.

Just spent about 40 bucks to get some games I missed from the previous generation on PS2, some indie games and a few pc classics. I got three Oddworld games, the Theif/Deus Ex bundle, System Shock 2, Psychonauts, Beyond Good and Evil, FTL, Hotline Miami and Fez!I had only been casual GOG user (console gamer, had lots of problems with early steam and don't like origin at all) but this has been great. I'm looking to playing a lot of quality PC titles in the near future, I may even invest in a controller.

Great game choices, especially Oddworld! Which ones did you get? I assume Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus and what is the third? Munch's Oddysee or Stranger's Wrath (HD)? The Abe games are the best, Munch is a horrible PC port (at least it was the last time I played it), but soon a revised HD version should be released (Steam owner get the update for free), similar to Stranger's Wrath HD update. Before the HD update, SW was also horrible on PC, now it's very well optimized for the PC platform and a pretty cool game (although I haven't played that much yet, my backlog! -.-).

EDIT: I see, only SW HD is available on GOG. Good choice man, good choice! Definitely better than Munch's Oddysee.

Never made a purchase from GOG before but dove in today.

I got the D&D collection, as well as Fallout, Fez, Hotline Miami, and FTL. All for like... $36. Wow! Just got my (slightly old) laptop revived, so time to play some PC games :)

This sale is ridiculous. If I bought everything I wanted to I'd never play half of it.

Grabbed King of Dragon's Pass, The Longest Journey series, and the Deus Ex bundle and got Thief as a bonus. Had to show restraint.

Is System Shock 2 cool to play without playing 1? Is it likely to get much cheaper than this?
