GoT S4 is really losing me.

I feel GoT has been amazing throughout. Season 5 is the only anomaly, but I didn't think it was as horrible as people were saying either. If you're annoyed enough to make an entire thread about season 4 losing you then I'd say drop the show at this point.

Why do people hate season 5 so much? To me, 4, 5, 6 are a blur of pretty good episodes, but not as good as seasons 1-3.

The Dorne subplot +
The Wacky Adventures of Bron n' Jaime seems to be a common problem regarding season 5. It came off as a completely drawn out waste of time.
It also features the absolute worst fight scene in the history of the entire show (spoilers for the OP).

Thankfully season 6 makes up for season 5. It's a fantastic season, and it's final two episodes are some of the best of the series.

Season 4 is merely an amuse bouche to prepare you for the awesomeness of Season 5, where you will enjoy spending a lot of time in Dorne with the well developped character of Doran Martell with which thankfully you'll be able to follow fan favorite actor Alexander Sidig for many, many episodes and great dialogues.
Ah, and the Sand Snakes, of course, truly the best.

I was thinking of Doran today in the shower for literally no reason. He looks like such a shithead in the show. I had no real issue with the Dorne scenes until I read the books. Even then, I'm not as upset about them as others but there are definitely some weird changes.

I think they just dumped the original plan for him after the reaction to season 5. He was actually contracted for more episodes in season 6 than he was in.

I know. It's a title, but better than calling her "Dany" ;P.

Ugh.

At least that's a GRRM-approved nickname. I fucking hate when people call Robert Baratheon "Bobby B"

Something in season 4 traumatized me.

I was on my phone while I watched that episode and kinda didn't pay attention. Imagine my surprise the next episode when I realized that Oberyn had died...then I went back to see how...

Season 4 is the best season in GOT, by far.

Tyrion is off the chains, Oberyn is slaying every scene, Cercei is being the biggest bitch, Tywin is amazing and Dany is as bad as always.
It's all downhill from here though.

I can't imagine what you'd think about the next ones if you don't like this one.

I feel like Season 5 is the only one that gets a bit boring. If you think Season 4 is boring power through and reach Season 6 which is great.

1,3 & 4 are fantastic. 2 is good and 6 is the best imo

the worst thing about this series is that show-only people think dany's name is actually khaleesi 😔
You mean Kelly C.

Season four is great, I don't see how you can be bored considering something huge happens every episode. Stick with it. Season five gets a lot of hate, but I would say it's largely good with some admittedly bad turning points.

I was fine with season four until the end of it and no I'm not talking about that lady... But yeah, coming off of season three it's pretty dull in spts but season three was basically a climax to the series.

Season five was fucking dreadful for the most part though and the Tyene boobs couldn't save it even the slightest.

The Season 4 was the last good season in my opinion, season 5 is one of the worse season save some exceptions and it has some of the worse story lines, Season 4 still has some great moments but character wise I wouldn't say that the series gets better at all.

GoT is tiers above Spartacus.

The only tier it is above is the money tier, because of HBO. But everything else, from acting to dialogue to political intrigue to fight scenes to sex scenes, Spartacus was way, way better. Game of Thrones is a mess, while Spartacus was a tight experience from beginning to end, even with the lead actor dying and having to be replaced.

I still laugh thinking about that tournament of the hand in like season 1. It looked like a bunch of larpers in someone's backyard. It was hilarious, especially as it was described in the books as this huge tournament and in the show it was like 15 dudes with a few horses. Spartacus managed to recreate entire roman amphitheaters for like 1% of the budget that GoT has, and they had awesome extra's filling the seats for a proper ambiance.

Honestly I dont understand the opinions of GoT fans, I love Season 1, I think its incredibly well written and Sean Bean did a wonderful job portraying Ned. But after that each season just got worse and worse, I laughed at most of the plots in Season 5 and especially Season 6, it made me lose so much interest and it made me feel really bad for GRRM because this is the adaption most are going to remember and its just...average.

Full spoilers of course and yes I know what happens after season 6 ended. I spoiled myself intentionally since the internet is a landmine of GoT spoilers anyway.

After binge watching Seasons 1 to 3, season 4 is just losing me. Joffrey is a goner and he's was intensely entertaining. I haven't taken to Jon Snow at all. He's a boring pretty boy and I can see the direction going more and more to him, at least I've heard lol. And Khalessi just isn't that compelling of a character.

Does it get better? But the quality drop is palpable. Very strange.

But I'm forcing myself to go through this season.

S5 almost ruined the entire show. S6 is improved over S5, but it isn't anywhere close to seasons 1-4.

I'll tell you what. I gave up after S4 too. Show was a slog.

I just recently caught up after the praise of S6. Let me tell you....it gets even worse. S5 is atrocious. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. However, you need it in order to view S6, which is actually pretty darn good. S6 is probably the best season since the first few.

No lies detected.

S6 was good.

S5 was unbearable.

Coincidence that is also when they hit mainly Feast and Dragons bullshit.

S6 does a pretty great recover once they are bounded down by that shit.

You guys are seriously crazy if you thought S5 was the worst. Jon Snow is so much better in it. Hardhome is one of the best episodes in any TV show history. Stannis the Mannis was disappointingly handled.

S4 was weak because Kings Landing can get boring very fast, and S4 was set entirely in Kings Landing.

King's landing and the War of Five Kings are the most interesting parts of the show. Jon Snow and the Night Watch, and Daenerys are so removed from everything and are both boring. Also what the show did with Sansa in S5 was awful and almost ruined the entire show right there.

Hardhome and the Wall have gotten more interesting in seasons.

Stannis is and has always been overrated.

Yeah I also didn't care about Jon at first. But then he becomes a part of some of the most fun episodes of the whole show. S4E9, S5E8,
S6E9.

Oddly enough I did feel like they lost something when Joffrey died. Dude was such a good villain, and Ramsey does not make up for him.

The source material is weak.

S5 didn't follow the source material. That was the main problem. Cersei, Jaime, and Dany's material were much better in the books. The show ruined Stannis. Sansas and Aryas weren't good in books 4 and 5 either, yet still much better than what the show gave us of them in Season 5. The show also did not have Theon's best chapter and my favorite chapter in book 5. Winterfell was much worse in the show.

Season 4 is definitely worth sticking through.

Season 5 was a big let down for me, and season 6 while marginally better really frustrated me as well. I'm in it for the long haul though at this point.

Stick with Season 4..The end makes up for it. Like has been mentioned Season 5 was all over the place, but did have a top 5 episode in there (Hardhome). Season 6 was a frigging blast, with 2 out of my top 3 episodes.

Cersie has been carrying Jofftry's torch. God bless her.

GoT has the best acting in the tv business. The fact that you're arguing this is beyond laughable. You can argue the other aspects due to preference, but this is some hilarious bullshit. They also have a ton more interesting storylines and character arcs than Spartacus has done. There's nothing like the big battles of s2, 4, 5, and 6 that Spartacus has. There's going to be tons of tv shows that will be a bit tighter than GoT, since GoT is handling 20-30 storylines while others handle 1-4 at once. I still vastly prefer GoT's style, as do critics, fans and general POV. But enjoy having a pov that most who have seen both disagree with. Maybe write in a resume as a moral victory.

Off topic gaf always has some of the cringiest shit that you can possibly read when it comes to anything popular. It feels like some of you really get off on being contrarians. You in particular just sound like a butthurt book reader though, which are by far the most obnoxious book cult of any popular fictional series.

Joffrey dying was awesome and totally satisfying, but it was "bad" in a sense because he was a really fun villain to watch and hate.

King Tommen is just boring.

Tommen is not meant to be Joffrey's replacement, though. In a lot of ways, Tommen is the polar opposite of Joffrey, not only as a person but also on the role he has to play.

Yeah I don't think many people would deny that the source material to draw from in s5 was weaker than the previous seasons but the worst parts were when they needlessly changed stuff or added their own shit. Unless you like the bad pussy that is.

OP the books tend to fall off at about the same point in time. Still a good read but bloated beyond all belief that kills the pacing for long periods of time, often focuses on things that we most likely didn't need to see in detail and really makes it seem like the story got away from GRRM.
