Need to do this mission where I have to go to the top of Macies Bank(sp?) to activate it with Franklin. With that crazy thrill seeking dude. How do I actually get up there to activate the mission?

I have a question. Those random encounters that show up with a flash to your mini-map and they're blue or red dots on the side of the road, if you don't interact with them do they come back?

I've ignored a few and it's hard to remember what your numbers were in the Checklist.

If you don't do them they come back. I don't think they're unlimited which bothers me. Has anyone robbed multiple armored vans already on the road? I haven't seen any recently. I can understand some of them not repeating but others like the armored van wouldn't make sense. It's such a cool little thing to do.

Thanks.

Yeah I've robbed it twice. I found it in the same spot both times just before they were about to get in and drive off wherever.

Edit: I don't know where that location is, sorry.

FUDGE. Loaded my game up today only to find Franklins garage empty. No Veyron fully maxed or my Lambo fully maxed. HATE these damn garage glitches. probably spent at least an extra 800k on this BS.

It claims my fastest is 207.53 mph in a Banshee but that must be a glitch since it doesn't seem very fast. 2nd most (which is my real top speed) is 139.61 mph in an Adder.

You could always climb to the top of the mountain and speed down it to increase your speed

Question guys, why does Trevor call
Tracey
our daughter? Is he
Tracey's
real father?

Not really sure if any of this is spoilery, sorry if it is.

The Chop iOS app is the worst thing to have ever been made

Oh lord, the amount of bad feedback the app has been receiving has made me completely indifferent for the Android App's eventual release!

Btw are you talking from a technical perspective or from general/ concept?

It seems to me that the idea of this app was implemented by a suit/ MBA in the publishing division. Given how much expertise/ attention to detail/ common sense rockstar have, this doesn't seem their idea.

Funny thing is the conference room conversation about this " oh hey guys, lets remove this functionality out of the game so we can engage users even on their phones with an 'app' and since everyone doesn't do anything much apart from being on their phones all day long, we'll make them train chop!"

Stupid people.

Any word from Rockstar yet about the custom car issues?

They're looking into it, but patches are tens of thousands of dollars each and requires sometimes weeks of certification by MS and Sony. So they may wait to lump it in with other stuff in a bigger patch. Maybe when Online comes out.

Interesting. I just noticed that body armor doesn't only protect you from bullets, but from physical damage as well. Was it like this in IV?

At 42.83% now after the weekend and I can say this is the best GTA ever imo.

So much fun had already, the missions are such an improvement over GTA IV's (never played the DLC there) and the characters are amongst the best ever in GTA games.

Lived up to the hype fo sho!

There's one at a gas station near where Franklin lives; I've seen them picking up cash like 10+ times there at all hours.

Man this game...this fucking game!!! So I tried to play a Michael mission as Franklin and it told me to switch to Michael. I switch to Michael, drive to a point then switch pack to Franklin and drive towards that same point.I then switched back to Michael again. Franklin then comes out of his car and says hi to Michael and says he's just going home to rest. I then follow Franklin around the block for a couple of minutes. All of a sudden, he stops and asks Michael "are you sure you're not following me? You wanna hang out for a drink?". I then get the option to hang out with Franklin. Rockstar.wow.just wow

First post :D

Oh my god this game is f***ing epic!

The first time I played I read the stats on the phone "progress" app and was kind of let down by how few missions and stranger events there was, so I tried to avoid strangers missions and story missions for a while because I didn't want to rush through.

But after playing for almost 30 hours there is so much to do that I can't even decide what to do everytime I start playing. And it does not help that when I finally decide what to do there is always some event or some location that catches my eye and I get sidetracked.

Right now I think I've done 3/4 of the story and I have some questions:

I think I read somewhere that when you use Masks when robbing a store , you could take it off later and you will lose your wanted level (like on RDR)

Has anyone tried this? I tried to do it but could not figure out how.

Also, how do you get the three characters together on free roam? I tried calling them but one of them is always busy.

holy shit.. fuck touch down in flight school. I thought it was impossible but turns out you have to press LT all the way down to get the plane to slow down and the trigger on my controller can't go that far...

switched controllers and landed in the checkered flag on the first try.. wtf

edit: LMAO I like how the helicopter in the demo video is wobbling all over the place. that's how you know the helo controls are shit; they couldn't even do it themselves LOL

Money is a huge issue in this game so far, at around 40%.

I don't quite understand why there's been a huge drought of paying missions since the first heist.

They're definitely trying to make it matter more and it does play a big role in the story itself.

I acually like it

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Every mission in this game is superior to the main missions in GTA IV.

Three Leaf Clover was fucking amazing because we had nothing to compare it with. I recommend everyone playing that mission today, after have played GTA V. You'll laugh. Trust me.

I spent the entire weekend playing GTA. This was something that I didn't do in a lot of years, sooner or later I would've stopped but with GTA is different, if I have half an hour free, I'll play it.

Anyway, I've done 35 mission out of 69, and I'm loving every single minute so far. I expected (little spoilers about the story)
a bit more planning on the second and third heist, but they were fun anyway. Also, the fact that the police will follow every single time in the airport is pretty much annoying, after you get used to it it's really easy to steal a plane, usually a Shamal, but the larger ones still take too much time to take off.

Another thing: having three different characters is great and everything, but I'd love to see cumulative stats, aside from the separated ones.

Money is hard to come by, but you don't really need it for anything. Avoid wasting money on vehicles. They can be stolen.Weapons will come to you through missions, so don't bother buying them either.

Do the assassination missions and pay attention to the dialogue. You can invest in companies online and make profit when you destroy their competitor.

As much as I love this game, I can't help but feel there were some curious design choices and missed opportunities. Screw collecting scraps and pieces of UFO, I'd rather there be a much larger number and variety of stores to rob like in Vice City, or specific cars to steal for money (also in VC). I wish armored truck robberies were more frequent and the like. This is a game that's begging for tasks like that that can earn you a decent chunk of change.

Both. It looks hideous, all of its game elements are worthless (feeding/picking dog shit up, along with three terrible Flight Control knockoffs), and it doesn't add much to GTAV itself. Without it you're not able to use Chop to hunt for collectibles, but I don't think you actually do anything to get that reward beyond booting the app up. You can otherwise unlock three animations like having Chop sit or shake hands, which requires points you gain thoughout the day.

It's a free throwaway thing but they couldn't have made it less interesting or useful to use. Anyone annoyed that it's an iOS-only thing should be miffed only if they're the collectible-hunting sort; anyone who doesn't care about that really isn't missing much.

With such a large and detailed world that Rockstar created and the amount of effort they put into it, they definitely could of included more stuff to do, especially in the country-side.

Oh well, can always wait for MODS for the PC version for this.

You can find a personalized map with all collectables (letter scraps/spaceship parts) by logging into the Social Club website. Pretty useful.

Play the stock market, and do Lester missions. I've only done the first heist and 1 Lester mission with Franklin and Michael, and they have 400K and 140K respectively. Trevor is still poor though, sitting on 8K.

I can see GTA Online adding new locations and story missions for crews to take on. I hope they keep doling out content (don't mind paying for it at all). I really, really, really hope they release next-gen versions, because I can see playing this at 1080p 60 for a very, very long time.

It depends. Some properties require work, others provide a decent cash flow.

For the towing company, it's the former. Enjoy towing shit. :D

I completely agree. It couldn't feel more useless. What collectibles is it that you can get with Chop? I mean, I have never felt loathed a tack-on more than I have this one. Normally, I'd just be sort of "eh, it's just a fun thing. Whatever", but I actually despise this. It's so completely arbitrary. You get points through out the day that you need to convert to drinks and food to increase an arbitrary happiness that let's you have the dog do tricks.

Having gone so far to connect the actions between the game and the app, I have no idea why they didn't just make it better. The best excuse I can do is some sort of post-modernistic piece wherein they comment on how these types of iOS games are only compelling but not good. It's just so half-assed.

Making an app to train Chop or pimp cars is the worst idea ever when you have an online stock market. Let me buy and sell those without starting GTA

North Yankton Memories - Epic music.

My favourite piece in the whole game!

Also, if people people aren't using Social Club, sign up for it right now.

Have been trying since release with no joy :|

I had some weird issues while playing today.

First the game really started taking its time loading buildings and textures when driving around.

Anyone else had these issues or is my old ass PS3 starting to fry?

A couple of times driving down he highway at speed the game has frozen for a couple of seconds, walking into a shell of a Liquor store the interior textures have slowly loaded - same for the start of a cutscene with Trevor & Michael.

One thing I have noticed though is that this game regularly sends the fan on my OG fatty PS3 into overdrive ... even though the console itself is cool.

still have not found a shop I can rob... :/

Try any of the 24/7 stores [that's their ingame name] ... just walk in and point a gun at the cashier who should start bagging up the takings in the till for you

According to the guide, you can use a hammer and baseball bat as melee weapons.

Where do you find these?

Also mentioned in the guide are Molotov Cocktails, which are also in the trailer, and fail to make an appearance in the game.

I have yet to find the hammer but randomly picked up Molotov's and a baseball bat while exploring ...

Haha!

As I'm walking to the bus station and morning traffic is all around me, I feel like grabbing one of these pretty cars and take it to work

Fuck

GTA man

Saw a chopper in the sky last night while walking my dog and immediately felt like diving for some cover haha

I get the feeling this is where GTA Online will come into play ... there's already a horse racing track and casino just waiting ...

Absolutely love the conversations between characters. Last night I had a good laugh when Michael called Trevor a hipster and when Trevor and Lamar were having a chat in the truck.

Haven't had the time I want to fully invest in GTAV yet. But this game is really good! Just got up to introducing Trevor and oh boy! This guy is nuts, shit is about to go down I know it. Thank goodness I'm off next weekend, I'm going in on this game then!

I think the police response is way, way better than in previous GTA games.

I had three stars with cops swarming me and at one point I managed to break line of sight with the cruisers and choppers, drove my ass behind a factory building, got out of the car and took cover behind a nearby dumpster. My heart was racing because two police cruisers passed through the street and a few on foot cops were checking out the car I abandoned and searching the surroundings literally a few dozen feet from me.

And the second right before this single shotgun-wielding on-foot cop was about to check behind the dumpster, the search was called off and they left the scene.

It's great. Actually hiding somewhere works like a charm.

Catching up on this thread after being lost in San Andreas' world all week, and have to highlight this post here for those complaining about the wanted system.

It seems to me that breaking line-of-sight with the cops is only one aspect of losing your wanted level. 'Hiding place' definitely seems to affect it too. I've spent minutes trying to lose one star just by sticking to roads and avoiding the sight cones on the mini-map. However drive into a complex alley network and park behind a dumpster and I've lost higher levels in a much less time.
