36 hours in and just made it to 70% completion. With online not being available yet, this is the first game I've seen where it's not possible to platinum at launch.

Can the parachute jumps only be done at a certain time? I've gone to three of them in the city and see no helicopter to ride up

Some of them are not done from a helicopter. There are two in the city where you have to climb a crane.

"Hey wanna hang out?"

"ISN'T THERE THAT OTHER THING WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING?"

"Oh, yeah, right. Sorry. Catch you later."

Over and over again. :(

Hmm, maybe you can't hang out with them when preparing for a heist or something.

It's probably easier to wait until you've finished the main story.

This game does not really value my time. So many missions and heists end up with you get $0. It's unsatisfying and annoying.
At least the last heist gives you a bunch of cash. I swear to god for a moment I thought they'd screw me out of it.

I'm looking forward to playing GTA online but I hope to god it doesn't take me 30 hours to be able to buy a helicopter or the sub.

Yeah I'm in the middle part of the game now I think, and a lot of story stuff keeps happening. I've tried hanging out several times throughout the game, and the timing is always bad.

Can you view what nuclear barrels you have or not on the social club website? I can't seem to find that as an option. :/

Only got three more to find.

Ok that's good to hear.

I recommend hanging out with people throughout the game if you can. Various on-going story events are referenced by characters and I'm not sure if you can get that stuff post-game.

I've had a few times when people have told me they're too busy or whatever, but I'm not sure exactly what triggers it. I've definitely been able to hang out with people a decent amount so far and I'm at around 40% or so completed. There is quite a lot of amusing character banter in the hang outs.

The tracker app helps you to find them so no there is no way to check it on the website. I did all of them in one go, took me 2-3 hours because that sub is so slow.

Impressions, note I'm a bit new to the GTA series...

- The gunplay is really simplistic, well, at around the 1 - 7% completion mark, i noticed the autoaim is ridiculous in this game. You literally pop out of cover and the cursor is right on a guy's head. I think they were really aiming for casual players with this mechanic. A lot of other weird stuff, too, like my pump shotgun hitting enemies very far away (you'd think your ammo would spread out a bit more, but that's how it is with other shooters, so i expected shotguns here to work the same....)

- A lot of weird glitches happen throughout missions. For example
when Michael's son drops off the yacht, no matter how off your car is, Michael's son will always land perfectly on the car. It looks gamey and weird
. A lot of other glitches have happened to me throughout the course of the game which usually involve getting stuck between places or getting my car stuck in a strange place.

- The driving feels good but cornering can be ridiculous with the loss of grip on the back end. I know they were going for arcade-feel but i guess they want you to cause the most damage on whatever's around you. I like it but at times I hate it.

- I played LA Noire in the past and I remember the criticisms against that game. Now playing this one, it kinda feels like the exact same game except it has more extra places to go. But most of the buildings, even simple fast food chains, cant be entered. Maybe it's asking too much for more things to be interactive, though.

- The map is HUGE but it's mostly empty except for specific spots where you can buy stuff, play mini-games or interact with NPCs.

- The ocean is cool.

- The missions and the dialogue are really what sells this game, they are really funny a lot of the time. Kudos to the scenario writers for this game. It seems to me they were going towards a lighter mood even with all the violence but not too crazy like with the Saints Row games. But with that the game feels very linear, much more linear than something like Skyrim, for instance. Nothing interesting happens to you unless you do the story missions or go to the big marked letters on the map. Everywhere else, causing chaos is the best option to get something interesting to happen.

- Game is tough to play when you got kids around; ridiculous amount of swearing and sometimes some scenarios are just well, adults only haha

So I like this game. Not a 10/10, but it's a good game.

You guys can argue with me on this one, but while the world is huge and it looks beautiful. There really isn't a whole lot to do. I mean, I know there are alot of activities to do and such, but none of them really make me want to replay them again. I'm finished with the story mode and I just find myself bored with the game now.

Hopefully the online aspect can fix this

I partly agree, and I kinda mentioned this before. I think it's partly due to a lack of indoor places to rob/explore/flesh out the world. And partly the small number of heists.

If there were more places to just walk in, like banks with people cashing cheques, car delearships with expecting parents buying a new family car and company headquarters with a bunch of people in suits hurrying about, the world would feel even more alive and real.

Hopefully the online does add more to it, than just repetitive missions because as much as I am enjoying the game, I can see myself being burnt out on running around randomly after I complete the missions.

You can change the aim settings from 'Traditional GTA' (Auto aim) to Free Aim where you are completely in control and no assistance is given.

Full soundtrack is now on iTunes. Can buy the whole thing, or buy single volumes (one is radio songs, another is original songs recorded just for the game and the third is the original score).

Original score is already bought, it's great.

Welp I got GTAV and I was playing it.... and BAM, freeze... Okay, restart console, load back in.... okay, wtf, it's not loading back in... Hmmm. Play Netflix... FREEZE... Oh damn.

Took apart the console to see if there was dust buildup...nope... Did a full system restore, load back in, freeze... welp...

That makes it official. I have now experienced failure with my launch 360 (got a new one later) and with my 80GB fat PS3. I'm also officially NEVER buying a launch console ever again. *stomps feet and cries* Can't afford a replacement right now either...

You can always get an escort ;)

Think I've seen some in the park where the pro weed man hangs out at night.

Dreams of a world where inflated review scores save studios
quick question, how much longer for me

i just finished the
first helicopter mission when the 3 guys meet for the first time.
im trying to beat the game before gta online.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Can you hang out with any two characters? Or can you only get Franklin, Michael, and Trevor together?

Any two. Try Trevor, Franklin and Lamar.

It is absurd how much dialog is in this game and can be easily missed. I don't think many will ever know you can do this.

I need to play more story.

Grinding stats has officially become tedious.

Thanks for the heads up.

I haven't hung out with any characters yet, but I wish the main missions involved more of the fun side characters like Lamar. I really enjoyed the start where you were robbing cars together and the back and forth between them. Where I'm up to there is none of that now :(

I want more car thief missions! Simeon take me back!

I disabled this but after some of the fights I just re-enabled it. Some of the fights are way too tedious to use normal aiming like there are twenty to thirty people swarming you and the shooting mechanics aren't fantastic in this game. They really needed to work on the enemy encounters to make it someone sane for people who just wanted to use non-aim assistant.

During the preparation for the
Union heist, there's a mission where you have to steal that giant underground drill. How are you supposed to do it?

I felt like I basically had to cheat my way through, since there's no chance in hell of outrunning the cops in a lumbering 16-wheeler. I basically just had to abandon the truck, get out on foot, and go hide in an alleyway until the heat died down. Is there a more elegant accomplish the same goal?

Thanks for the spoilers, for fucks sake. Why not explain the entire mission step by step while you're at it.

I had no clue you could even hang out with people. Damn, going to need to try some of this asap.

Has anyone had a problem with the garage at Michael's place not opening? Mine is busted. It won't open from the inside or the outside with or without a car. I put a Porsche in it a day or two ago and it was there for a while inaccessible but now it's empty.

Big-ass Ramp

hella bullets that's true
I just spent two hours trying to steal planes. I got a jet into a
Little hanger but it doesnt really fit. Now it respawns there blocking my hanger with its tail caught on the roof so it can't move.

Tell me to shut my mouth and leave forever if this has been said already... but why are there no limb specific injuries in pedestrians as there were in IV? If you shoot a pedestrian in the leg, they'll just pop back up and run like nothing happened (assuming they don't die). Is this for the sake of processing or something?

You still have a good ways to go. You've barely scratched the surface.

Also, look at the stats in the pause menu, it'll show how many more story missions you have left. :)

I'm guessing it was one of the many cuts they had to make to cram this massive game onto the current gen consoles. The same reason why people often get duplicate cars spawning all around them. And why most of the places in the game aren't enterable :(

Stupid current gen limitations!

Does anyone think they will add in extra places and things to do in the next gen version? Or would they port it as it is?
