Grand Theft Auto V |OT2| <Title available for purchase>

So thanks to the flying glitch posted by Krappadizzle, I discovered that the North icon that's displayed on your GPS is a fixed location, a North Pole if you would.

There's also a boundary where the camera doesn't follow you any more, so if the instant kill ocean ends, it's BEYOND that point (which is about 25-35 minutes of flying out to). The game will also instantly destroy/disable a parachute or any vehicle from that far out, so it's impossible to take cell phone pictures once you're in the death zone.

just a question, how are u guys taking these 3rd person shots of yourselves? Unless Im missing something, you can only take selfies or straight up first person shots.

I hate how almost every time I hang out the person responds like I've not spoken to them for months. Dude we just
robbed a bank
like a week ago, relax. We're busy criminals with hectic lives, we have to see each other every day or feelings get hurt?

Franklin's the least interesting of the three. but because he has little identity compared to the others. he's just a yes-man until the end when he starts finally forming his own opinion and dissing these fools.

lamar so good though. would have much rather played as him even though it wouldn't make any sense for him to be mentored by michael lol.

Franklin is basically the standard GTA protagonist. Very little actual personal history and traits other than a guy trying to get a leg up in society and make something more of himself via the criminal underworld. If he were the only protagonist in the game, the game will probably play out a lot like GTA3 and GTA4 where you just keep doing jobs under one boss after another as you move up. Thankfully Rockstar did something very different instead. :)

Finished the story
but I did not received Franklin's cut from the final heist... Trevor and Mike got their cut without problems. Bug or I have to do something more?

I am having serious problems getting the cars I want now... I seriously think my car spawns are bugged somewhat.

I think it may have started when I replayed a stranger/freak mission, failed and exit to trigger Patriot Hummer spawns..

I'm very glad how rarely I trigger the cops. Not driving like a fool helps I guess :)

It's also relatively easy to lose them up to 3 stars. Haven't gotten myself into a lot of 4-star situations though.

I finally finished the game today. Sorry if I'm a broken record (this thread is pretty long).

I think this is the best open world game I've ever played. I have a few qualms with some of the story, and the mechanics. But overall, the highs trump them easily. Kudos Rockgods, I really felt this is and the soon to be released GTA Online is a preview of what to expect from next-gen GTA. Bravo. Michael > Trevor > Franklin.

I don't see how they can back down from this multiple protagonist format. I hope I'm not in the minority in wanting them to continue with this, opens the door for a female protag someday. It also kept things pretty interesting, for me at least.

EDIT: I think I found Michael the most interesting because earlier in the game he definitely had a Soprano-ish vibe to his story outside of
fucking over Trevor
. Listening to him and Amanda go back n forth at times was hilarious, especially in that
random therapy session
. The writing isn't top notch, but it is above video game tier because it was pretty self-aware at times lol.

I drive normally, it's not a big problem, but one day I was driving through a junction when a cop car rammed right into me at full speed, and *I* got a 1 star wanted rating. Wtf!!!!! Lol.

I was trying to pick up a submarine with the cargobob I bought, but I tilted and basically lost control and somehow the sub exploded over the water.

I got 3 stars for that.

I've been wondering about this. I think if they feel they have a really interesting protagonist they can go back to a single one, but I do hope they keep with the multiple character system. It's a neat change to this sort of game and for me it kept the story feeling fresh the whole way.

edit: I guess I should say feeling fresh so far. Not done with the main story yet.

As in abiding by real life traffic laws normally??

Whenever I get a sexy new car, I try to see how long I can drive civil without fucking up. Once I do mess up, I say fuck it and go into video game driving mode. I must say I feel like the game secretly punishes you for doing so, I've hilariously received death by windshield quite a few times lol.

Also drunk driving in the game is pretty funny.

Yea, I agree. If they have good enough material that warrants going back to a single one then I wouldn't have a problem with it. They'd probably throw in certain mission that would allow switching between characters when necessary or something of that nature. The multiple character was really neat though, kept me interested the whole way through like you said.

I had a fucking hilarious ride in the taxi. This cop comes out of nowhere and is chasing a guy, and the Taxi driver AI got confused and tried to keep avoiding him. He ended up being right behind the cop and would slow down, then drive crazy out of nowhere. The hood of the cop's car actually flew off at one point and he swerved into another lane to avoid it hitting the car.

Anyway, they stop the guy's car and have a shootout while the taxi is at a deadstop. Then I get kicked out as he runs away screaming, right through the firefight getting killed in the crossfire. I then hear the cops just go "I need a beer" and leave. An ambulance comes and the one guy screams "WE NEED TO HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE" then immediatly goes "we're too late...I DID ALL I COULD" then also said how good a beer sounded now.

By the end of the game I absolutely hated Trevor. He literally had zero redeeming qualities.

He seems to have the most morals out of all of them, weird as it may be.

Down the incline directly below Whisky a Go Go, cars tend to go crazy and smash into each other. I had a huge pileup which i proceeded to explode.

UGH! Finally got a car, outrunning the cops(always), getting on the freeway and my car seriously scrapes the side of the concrete barrier.. totaling the car by locking the wheel. I seriously barely touched concrete. It didn't even make a crunch noise, it made the glass shattering noise.

I'm sorry, I know I'm bitching beyond belief. But this is such an incredibly frustrating experience. GTA is my favorite series. I loved GTA IV. But this one is like everything I'm trying to do the game is either fighting me or I'm running through quicksand.

You can't get away from the cops at 2 stars?
Take to a hill or something, climb a fence, or just...
Stay in a car - any car - and go straight even a little bit.

I had that same "problem" the other day, spending an hour with the intent to do a mission, but I kept dying. More-so, trying to get from point A to B I kept having too much fun playing around. I ended up at four stars once and just lost them hiding behind a wall at a construction site. Really, they're damn easy to lose.

Glad to see people putting that glitch to use. I didn't know that. It does seem with the flying glitch you can go higher than a plane or chopper will let you too.

Noooooo. The flight school is easy. I'm talking about the 15 special ones you have to do between specific buildings in San Andreas. It is an achievement/trophy (all 15) and necessary for 100% (8 of them.)

They are not super easy. There are 2-3 that are very tight and incredibly annoying since you crash = tedious trek back to get plane and try again.

I'm using the stunt plane. That or the jet plane are easiest.

They're not that hard if you line yourself up from a long way out. Trying to make last minute adjustments is what gets you in trouble. I found the jet too fast, stunt plane was more manageable.

And wtf at trekking back to get a new plane each time? That's a schoolboy error. Just save up in the air and reload if you crash.

It takes a bit of time to get used to outrunning the cops. It would have been nice if they changed the spawn rates depending on where in the map you are though, driving down a country lane and having 2 cars closing on you is a little frustrating.

Don't know if this has been pointed out -

I have the SE and with it comes the map. In the lower corner of said app there is the maker of the map:

STD contractors

Question about the ending.

So you're given the three choices. I decided to take out both Michael and Trevor before attempting the "good" ending. So Michael's dangling and the game gives me the choice to save him or let him fall - what would have happened if I chose to save him?

Whenever I play as Trevor, it's like the game's NPCs WANT me to commit mass murder. Everyone's such a dick to him.

I just aim to be flexed with.

Franklin attempts to pull Michael up, but an enraged Michael takes the opportunity to headbutt Franklin. Franklin obviously loses his grip, and Michael falls to his death anyway. Franklin is beat up about it.

I thought the sub was bugged with the cargobob but I managed to get it from spawn to the Alamo sea last night. Of course, i parked it too far off shroe, so when I had landed the heli and went back out to the water... no sub. Cue murder spree.

Been practicing my police chases. I think the key points are - modded cars only. Full armour, bulletproof tires mandatory. Sticky bombs all the way. Only kill enough cops to get three stars and then get out of there. Use armour still, because those choppers will shoot through your windows. Actually, this is the part that annoys me the most, I get that being shot in your car is realistic, but it's not fun. I want a car chase, not to be dead in my car within two minutes.

I wish R* would throw us a bone and patch it to make chases a little more do-able.

If you go to Hookies as Trevor, everyone there will start shooting at you. Apparently you can't buy that property with him, only Franklin or Michael can.

Well the submarine sections were boring but not that bad. The framerate had to be in single digits when you were above water though.

Absolutely loving the game, if only I didnt have to go to work so I could actually play the damn thing more! GTA5 is everything I wanted GTA4 to be.

One thing bugs me though... I enjoy clothing the characters and making them look to fit the part they play but I rage within when I switch between characters and then see that they have changed their clothing, thus destroying all my work. I'd rather they stick to the clothes I put on them.

No actually I think I was Trevor. Maybe the cop recognized him and was trying to do society a favor. Lololol.

Best part about Trevor is that when random stuff happens, it always like it's happening due to in-world, in-character reasons like that. When I accidentally bail out of a car as Franklin I feel like headpalming but when I do it as Trevor it's all like 'hey, that's so Trevor.'

you are bitching beyond belief. the game isn't that hard. take care with the cars a bit, they can break. or drive your own car and armor/bulletproof the tires.

My trevor gets so destroyed by those damn bikers, everytime. those guys are overpowered freaks.

People like Lamar?! I generally dislike bumbling incompetent fools; wished I could have left him at the ambush.

From your description it sounds like you're trying to flee the cops in a garbage truck or something, lol.

So I finished the main story last night. Pretty cool ending
(I chose option C of course)
. I think I'm done with the franchise. There was an awful lot of uninteresting missions. Pick a truck here, pick a car there, move a container. Very mundane stuff. A lot of the time while driving to get to point B I was under the impression of loosing my time. The game picks up when you meet Trevor but still, out of the 69 story missions, only around 10-15 are memorable (
Michael's boat mission, the Bank heist with the miniguns, the train mission, the military cargo mission, the FIB mission, the shoot out with Dave, Lamar's rescue mission, all the well choreographed missions in short
). That's a pretty weak ratio. I have no interest in the side stuff. Tennis, Golf? I already have Wii Sports. Causing mayhem? Did that plenty already in GTA IV and you get killed by the police quite fast so it's limited fun. That said, the game is a vast improvement over GTA IV. Better driving, shooting, world, vehicule variety, three characters with different abilities. The game is technically impressive, the ocean is awesome looking, the small details, the natural animations, the destruction and so on.
With the improved shooting, it's a shame so few missions are well staged for huge shoot-outs. The character switching is also under-exploited. The game is not particularly clever or creative in the mission design. I never felt like I was outsmarting the police while planning the heists (
Except when dressed as firemen or convoy employees
). The game was good enough to finish it and see how the story would unfold but there's too much padding to get to the next interesting bits and for that reason alone I'll probably rate it "only" 7 out of 10. It's not a keeper IMO.

Also finished the main story and the majority of the side missions last night.

I have mixed feelings about it, the open world stuff is amazing, so much fun just messing around in the giant sandbox.

The story elements and missions themselves were quite a let down however, so many missed opportunities eg.
I was fully expecting some Stuntman style movie antics/mechanics during the Solomon Richards series of missions, but all we got were some uninteresting chase down the goons type stuff
. Also there are tons and tons of areas on the map that the story never takes you to that would seemingly be golden opportunities for interesting missions eg.
the casino, the race course, the power plant, the wind farm etc
.

Also, after all the hype about
underwater exploration, it was barely used... and there doesn't really appear to be anything interesting down there anyway
!

The experience was also slightly spoiled by the car/garage bugs as well, I feel like I missed out on owning cool cars and modding them etc, as I knew that there was a good chance they would vanish into thin air, I never bothered with this aspect.

I guess there is a chance that DLC will cover some of this in future.

For now, I will see what GTAO brings to the table, speaking of which... is it live yet?
