Looks drop dead gorgeous, but I dont believe in those animations

They are waaay too good. I bet that they were handcrafted for the trailer and not representative of what we will see during gameplay.

"You cant judge games in development", I know I know, but animations from that leaked gameplay are way inferior and more believable of a real game.

I'll take it with a grain of salt until we see some actual gameplay

Ngl, this is the very first time a GTA trailer has done nothing for me. I’m interested to see how far they can push their world simulation but generic white guy number 1000 does nothing for me. In the GTA 4 trailer, you could tell Niko had an edge to him. In the GTA 5 trailer, you could tell what type of guy Michael was, or Franklin or Trevor. These two are so boring in this trailer.

I don't know man. Was anything in trailers from their games not in the games itself when they released? Animations and visuals wise? I would swear V looks a lot better than the first trailer. Same for RDR2 too. Animations I'm not sure.

Yeah I'm too old for this shit.
I’m getting there too. Also depending how brutal the rag doll physics look I might be put off on killing sprees. Once GTA looks indiscernible from 4chan or liveleak footage we’re in trouble.

The plot is what is a little off putting as far as age goes. If it was similar to GTA3 with a silent hitman doing a bit more classier style crime for the mafia I think I’d be more down with it.

1.) From my trained eye, it seems R* has successfully implemented a real-time GI solution. This means light will propagate and bounce around much like it does irl.
2.) They’ve obviously carried over (and seemingly improved a bit) the volumetric cloud system they constructed for RDR2.
3.) Character shadows on the sand follow the waviness on the sand. This means either they’re using an advanced parallax shader for terrain, or using full on tessellation.
4.) Water looks very solid. Hard to tell if reflections are raytraced or if they’re a combination of screen space reflection and a dynamic environment map, which is what RDR2 did.

You are going to get ratio’d for this.

And I’m going to quote you to make sure more people see this lmao

Feel free to Ratio reality all you want

I'm not saying the game doesn't look good. The honest truth is that it's not some standout leap beyond what's already been on the market for a while.

But of course "shiny new thing must be better" psychology is out in full effect, and you're the worst offender of that. There's nothing technically mindblowing about anything on display here. It's a nice trailer that's pretty much in line with my expectations for the series, no better or worse.

I'll start getting genuinely excited if they've managed to improve the 2002 gameplay in any way.

Male lead said one word in the whole trailer and blud's already calling him boring.

One of the most impressive things about this trailer to me is how many different body types there are in this city

Makes me think that maybe the GYM system from GTA SA is back. And you can also get fat if you eat too much :messenger_tongue:
It was already back in RDR2, which I think it 99% makes it a lock for this game that per the 2022 leaks and today's video seems to be inheriting the majority of gameplay features and systems of RDR2.

I'm genuinely impressed. That takes a lot for a AAA western developed game in current day times.

Looks like an episode of Tiger King come to life in videogame form, just like a proper caricature of Florida should look.

Some of those animations look almost too good to be real, and the camera effects made some of those scenes look crazy realistic. Good shit.

Also the lead characters seem cool. Upgraded from the leaks a few months ago.

Dude stop embarrassing yourself, this stuff is a generation apart from whatever we seen now, the mount of stuff and detail is something else from everything on the market.

Here we go with the hyperbole

"generational leap" it is not. That's a truly embarassing claim for a cinematic trailer. There's tons of amazing looking cinematic trailers out there.

How would you judge rt gi based on that trailer.
I've noticed that in certain scenes, whenever a door is opened or there's a shift in the lighting of a certain area, the light takes a small time to fully propagate into the objects in the scenery. That might be evidence of a RTGI system being in place.

Maybe I am just fucked up but I really want realistic gore and decapitation. I'm betting Rockstar will tame it back so it won't disturb the masses. I'll take Red Dead level gore but I doubt it will even be that grizzly

It has the best npcs + density ive ever seen, draw distance seems better than most games, but outside of that id have to agree with you. The buildings and vehicles for example look borderline mid.

All in all, these kind of graphics with that LoD and density is 100% a generational leap.
Some shots like 0:22 and 0:33 will definitely look like that in-game, maybe even better given the 2 years we still have to wait.

no different than many top tier open world games
You’re going to catch flack for this but you’re not wrong per se. It looks good but not revolutionary. The thing that sets it apart is the density and the consistent quality despite the density. I feel like it’s definitely going to be a 30 fps game for sure. Watching it on a 77 inch Oled, you can see the aliasing in some parts so it looks real time like Lucia’s hair for example. Can’t say though. Also, she was talking through out the whole trailer and the guy said only one word. Is she the actual main character?

NPCs are a little corny and cartoony, but they have a little more style in Take2's games than other titles. Of course this is a cinematic trailer, so there's likely going to be substantial downgrades from normal NPCs in the game.

Density looks on par with other top tier games, nothing really groundbreaking there.

Yeah like I said it's a GOOD looking game, no question. But I've also played a LOT of amazing looking games the last few years that get shat on for just being cross-gen when they are equally as impressive in many ways as this footage and did it years ago.

Now, Rockstar has GREAT art, and you don't really see their style in games often, so the NEWNESS makes it look more impressive than it really is underneath the surface.

And you're sipping the shiny new thing kool aid boss, get some glasses or start broadening your horizons.
Look if this looked on the level of sm2 I would’ve called it out. But I’ve played all the graphical heavy hitters (burning shores, Alan wake 2, ratchet and clank, demons souls) and watched many high quality videos of Cyberpunk Pathtracing, this look better than any of them by quite a margin.
