I dunno how many noticed my little panic last night when all the Orr Chests (needed for a collection I really wanted to finish as soon as possible) I tried to open were already open. I hadn't been in Orr for about a year except for some kill dailies. I had definitely not opened any chests in Orr at all for about a year or more.
Tried to ask map chat in all three zones if anyone else was experiencing this but no one seemed to have this bug except for some people with only one specific chest (Vizier's Tower in Straits), which was also the same answer I got in guild chat. For these people, going to the Buried Archives in Cursed Shore helped.
I went there but that chest was also already open. I could see people come up, run to the chest and open it. It was infuriating
I tried the other easy puzzle (Antre of Adjournment, Malchor's) but that chest is different and doesn't count for the collection. Tried some random world chests with the same look as the JP chests that works for others but that didn't count either... until I found the one below the waterfall in Malchor's. The one near the orb-JP.
So if anyone does experience this bug and doesn't want to wait to get the reward, try that one!

So, I've settled onI've done Secret Santa with my school friends for the last 7 years, I'd be willing to do this. I think I have a script somewhere to assign givers to recipients (without me knowing to preserve the "secret" in Secret Santa) - if not I'm sure I could write one real quick or use someone else's. It would require email addresses if everyone's OK with that.
I've never done anything like an MMO Secret Santa though. What sort of things do you even give? Minis? Outfits from the gem store? Random exotic skins? I don't know most of the people in the guild on a personal basis so it would be hard to get something non-generic

I think they should remove the world bosses from the starter zones, and move them to higher level zones and beef them up, Taco style. If I were ArenaNet, I'd have someone watching where people stand to be safe, like Shatterer, and purposefully have random AoE that can hit there, so there is never a safe spot.
And people would hate me for it.

I like them fun change of pace, but the fights are boring, needs a revamp on Shitterer and Jorlag, also I hate SB, 50 players killing SB on only 8 players taking out the portals when they Spawn, I rarely do SB now.

Nothing super interesting in Gendarren Fields except I will always have a soft spot for the Ascalon Settlement.
Harathi is even more boring, but the docks around Seraph's Landing are neat.
Also I got a Teq staff for my benchwarming Necro.

Fractals were fun too, sorry if we didn't do well enough for you to share the vid, Ike.
You know we have high standards when I'm not sure we did well enough on a 1 hour no wipe fractal 50
It was five minutes faster than our level 50 fractal in September, but there are definitely some spots where I groan watching this one.
I didn't do my typical fractal build, so there were fights where I couldn't just stand and take the hits anymore. It's probably going to take getting knocked out a few more times before it sinks in that I need to move.
Not to say that you guys ever let me actually be defeated in a fight. Both times I was defeated were in non-combat situations, while running away from enemies: the GIF above, and running from the dredge after stepping on the switch.

Yes, this is a game.
Surprisingly i discovered i like sword /foci on my guardian.
1 autoattack is fast dps 2 is a gapcloser 3 is a rapid flurry which can hit at mwdium range 4 i don't quite remember atm and 5 blocks 3 attacks and explodes.
Only downside i can see is that from a group perspective it is a bit selfish to use.

I think it's quite a fun map. Lots of different events to do. Has bandits, centaurs, destroyers, toxic alliance. Cool jumping puzzle. One of the maps where you can get prestine toxic spores.
Also you can turn into a pig and find truffles.

Lately I've just been jumping on to do the dailies, which sounds like it's the minimal required effort but has actually been quite enjoyable. The old system was nice in that you'd earn them for basically playing the game as you normally would, but they weren't exactly exciting.
The new setup is less passive, giving you specific goals with specific rewards, with the objectives basically the same as before but requiring less repetition. You don't have to gather x# of times anymore, you just need to gather a couple times in a specific region. I like that it's nudging players to head to parts of the world where the play-together-but-not-as-a-group gameplay can really shine. Doing events with people is always a good thing.
Since I get the equivalent of the old dailies just for logging in now, everything else is just gravy. I found I'm doing my daily in WvW because the WXP bottles are more interesting to me than the PVE-side rewards.
My only complaints are the dailies that send you to newbie zones (I feel like everyone just bum-rushes the events and new players can't get credit for things) and the profession-specific PVP ones. Someone mentioned it should be randomized for each player, but I think at the very least giving the player, say, three professions to choose from (e.g. "Win one PVP match with an Engineer, Guardian or Elementalist") would help.
... just in case anyone was curious, I haven't seen too much rage over them so I guess folks seem to be enjoying them as well.
I actually use Sword / Focus on my Guardian too. #4 is great for group support because it bounces between foes (blind) and allies (Regen and cures one condition). If you need to go more support-oriented, I swap in Mace.
I ran Sword / Torch for a long time, but the Torch's focus on burning when so many other Guardian skills are burn-related didn't do it for me. /shrug
Wintersday is sort of like... well.. Christmas. It's something you have fond memories of and sort of look forward to all year, but a little bit goes a long way and if you tried to spend the entire holiday seasons just doing "Christmas stuff" pretty soon you'll be sick to death of it.
So... no, that's not weird at all. That's still a really fun zone.
I find the map I get tired of the fastest is Bloodtide Coast. It's a pretty enough zone (I know Hawkian in particular likes it) and I love all of the sea life and such, but it feels like all of the content in the zone is either quaggan-related or pirate-related, with a nasty layer of Risen sandwiched between.
I don't care much for Sparkfly either, and those two maps are generally the last ones I'll do. I put off doing Harathi Hinterlands too, but I find that once I start that zone I generally finish it much faster than I remember, so at least it's over quickly (I also like Harathi's humans vs. centaur meta in theory, though it is too cyclic for my tastes).
Kessex never bothers me, mostly because of the variety in the enemies (as Kos mentioned) and the landscape. It's nice and forested on the west side, mountainous on the east, with the lakes breaking up the map nicely. There's the little swampy parts in the SW and NE corners and lots of little towns and such scattered around.
The zones that tend to have one theme (Bloodtide, Sparkfly, the Shiverpeak zones) tend to be the least interesting to me, while those that have a diversity of terrain types (Mount Maelstrom, the Ascalon zones) are at the top of my list. Not that surprising. There's not a lot of timesinks for Wintersday (unless you're the type to have to grind out those repeatable 3 ap Wonderland / Choir / Snowball Arena things...) so silverwastes is still the biggest new thing, really.
I believe sword/focus is a very "meta" set for guardians. It's popular. Though playing with that set just reminds me of deadeye farm days, lol.

How long do I have to stay in Dry Top during the story? I really dislike the location :/ Although it seemed to get nicer around that oasis and such. Edit: I'm in episode 1: Gates of Maguuma so far, quit the game due to the boring level :/

Oh, I meant here on GAF. Maybe "rage" is the wrong term since the most upset people tend to get on here barely even qualifies as "upset." Perturbed, maybe, annoyed, sure... by we haven't seen upset for a while...
They could release a free expansion tomorrow with Cantha, playable Tengu and Kodan, mounts, new weapon types, a new profession, 2000 free gems and a coupon for a night of nasty, dirty sex with the celebrity of your choice and someone would inevitably get on the official forums and say "WTF, no Polymock?!" I stopped reading the non-CDI forums a looooooong time ago and stick to the obvious news threads on Reddit. The rest is just a very small part of the community making a lot of useless noise.
If you mean the Wintersday Jumping Puzzle, that's going to be a stretch trying to get everyone into maps together.
As far as a toy collecting event, that's certainly something we could do. Especially if we do it later in the festival when the initial rush to get everything dies down and the donations don't come in quite as quickly. Seems like the last few days, people get the Dolyak Escort event going as soon as the last one finishes.
If you mean going after the Ornament collection as a guild, then hell yeah, we totally need to do that.
I meant more the toy collection one, but any JP activity would be fun (and I can leech portals =P)
