H1Z1 Early Access |OT| You've got red on you.

Day Z has a janky ass engine.

Rust has horrible hit detection , lag , hackers and they can't seem to figure out how not to make servers shit themselves after a few days of everyone building massive structures.

H1Z1 so far is having launch pains. I need them to get these and server issues sorted before i can say how far along it is. I was getting pretty bad performance yesterday but they said it's because some servers had fps issues. I'm hoping that what it is.

Because of SOE, the size of their team and their proven engine H1Z1 seems like the one most likely to be able to pull it off one day. I have no horse in this race as I put 400 hours into Rust legacy and loved it but it's still far too early to tell who will be the better game at the end. I hope one day all three of these games reach a respectable 1.0 because it's a great genre with moments that none of others can replicate.

As janky as DayZ's engine is I still think that after another year of development it won't be any worse than the Arma games. Combined I've probably got 1500 hours in Arma and it's just one of those things. I'm hesitant to say you get used to it because it implys the interface is bad. For some things in Arma it's necessary, like independant head movement, it's janky as fuck to try and use but (I think) it brings a lot to being in an FPS perspective.

I wish every fps had this.

I won't say Arma is bad but it most definitely not my cup of tea. It's definitely more sim than I like my FPS games to be. So I'm pretty sure Day Z will never be for me as cool as I think it is.

This isn't SOE's first rodeo. I have a lot of faith in them turning this into an exceptional game.

Directly from veteran John Smedley, The master mind behind brilliant clusterfucks such a Vanguard Saga of Heroes, The Agency, and Star Wars Galaxies.

All those rodeos.

2nd day after buying the alpha.

Still havent played a second of it.

That makes me annoyed. Not the airdrop thing.

Paying for something and more than 24hours still not being able to play once.

That just seems awful.

Still want to play the game but damn this is killing my goodwill towards the game.

Well, will try again tomorrow. Off to bed. Bye guys

Vanguard was a huge failure before SOE even bought it.

Which speaks volumes of the level of decision making that's going on there. Since when is SOE a seal of quality anyway? I would argue that historically its been the other way around.

Does server type make a difference? I got into a full PvE server on the first try.

I know its early acces, but got a refund.
Did not ask refund for techical issues, thats understandable in early acces.
But there is no fun its just boring.
Its my fault i hoped H1Z1 would bring something different to the table, but it does everything exactly the same as DayZ or Rust or Nether.

Maybe the fun wil be there in the final product.
Right now the map is to small, every house is looted and nothing to find, so you just walk and survive on blackberrys till you get killed.
And that crap again with the KOS, cant we just get along.

Genuinely asking this and not being snarky, but what difference do you want in this genre? I feel like the survival zombie sim is always going to play on its tropes because that's just how it is. I can see some different takes in the form of crafting, what zombies can do, how you involve the player in the world but for the most part the genre will always have zombies, loot and death.

Maybe a new of interacting with people, rewards for teamwork.
Make day zombies slow and at night ferocious and fast so people have to hole up and work together.
Character lvl up with skill trees maybe.
Different areas, everything looks bland, and i know its a zombie apocalypse but some different zones would be nice.
Im just bummed because i thought this would be different and better and more exciting.

State of decay is probably the one more suited for your taste, only reason I'll consider getting xb1 in the future just for that and gears ;P

Although I've been watching some streams on twitch and the game looks pretty good after the patch

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.

If SOE was as huge a failure as you seem to think, they wouldn't exist after 15 years.

Sure, Smed has fucked up. That can be said for every company in existence. Who cares.

Looks like they gave bonuses to people who aren't getting refunds. I paid 19.99 but when I just logged in I now have 28 event tickets, 3 air drops, 5 crate keys, aviator cap skin etc

Sony TV division keeps hemorrhaging money, but there they are. Most likely SOE is profitable, still strikes me as unusual someone associating SOE with quality.

I have lol. That's why I'm asking. I've found 2 steel pipes, but they aren't of much use. Then I died of starvation.

Guess I'll try again in a bit.

Make a bow and hunt for venison, deer are all over the place.

*edit* you'll need a knife, axe or machete to harvest them though

If you can find warehouses there is usually hammers and axes around there. Look close to the shelves too cause some pistols lay around too. All else fails metal fragments and some wood will make makeshift hatchets, knives etc

I presume the fixes to loot chance is still ongoing as they just got more weapons.

They're still working on them: http://www.reddit.com/r/h1z1/comments/2sopo9/update_about_airdrops_and_my_personal_apology/cnriogj

There will only be two airdrops with guns in them when the change goes in, and neither have an AR.

The Hobo

Shotgun 1x
Shells 12x
Moonshine 2x
Torch 1x
Twine 1x
Bear Sandwich 1x
7 Zombies

The Lone Wolf

Pistol 1x
Ammo.45 14x
Logs 2x
Wolf Sandwich 1x
Animal Trap 1x
Deer Bladder 2x
7 Zombies

I'll have a good look, I found my pipes in a warehouse, but died shortly after so didn't get to look around much.

lol He was not the mastermind behind Vanguard. That was Brad's fuck up. Smedley got that game for like 10 cents on the dollar i bet. It was low risk, but it was also little to no reward, but i do NOT think they lost out on money.
