Halo |OT9| One Final Effort Is All That Remains

Haha wow from the sounds of it some of those waypoint moderators are not too bright... Glad they're antics are getting exposed on here even if it's just for the cheap laughs.

It certainly isn't cheap.

It's definitely not, but I'm not a fan of the super-shiny plastic look on the controllers, which does look kinda.... cheap.

Although I had no idea the console and backs of the controllers were transparent. That's pretty slick. can't afford to get the console, however I'll definitely be picking up the UNSC controller.

Yeah, long time Gaf lurker. I have an account, but hardly ever post.
But... this is where all the cool kids hang out!

I spot your Perfect Dark theme. Props.

Robocop reference. PD catch. MLP avatar. You.. I like you.

Still looks pretty tacky and cheap to me. But hey, what do I know.

I have that UNSC controller preordered to ship to my house once it's released.. Hopefully that transparent plastic won't cause the controller to slip around my sweaty hands!

OT but finally M$ is giving rewards for achievement points. 1-2% rebates baby! lol.. Probably felt they had to do something since the WiiU is finally bringing that idea to the industry.

343 must love these terrible offscreen pictures being the first impression of Ragnarok.

Should just release a vid and get it over with. :p

Just played BL2 with them both the other day. Good times. I recognize some other Waypoint faces here as well.

Anyway, I like it here. Just usually don't have anything post worth to say. Take this reply for instance. See? :)
There aren't a lot of frequent Waypointers on GAF, aside from Flat, Grim, Moa, and myself from what I've seen.

But anyways, it'd be nice to have some more Boston fans so we can have higher levels of saltiness when the Rays win.

Wonder what the birthday gifts are... The rewards aren't very big, but I don't think they want to encourage for score whoring. On the plus side, getting your GS reset for infractions now has more weight... Anyone know when this is supposed to go live?

Edit: oh, I just realized it says rebate. Does they mean we would still need 400 MS points to buy the 400MSP item, and then get 1-2 percent back? Less exciting than before purchase items...

I'm only active here when I'm banned, which isn't too often, other times I just lurk when I'm bored on my phone.

It probably just looks like the ground from exile except less muddy...which still isn't great but I've accepted it at this point. I think the ground textures might be the only thing I see as a graphical downgrade, even from Halo 3 possibly.

I think it already is live.

This looks nice, but it's hard to tell since it's such a blurred mess:

Who needs PR? Amirite?
I don't want to wait until Wednesday just to get screencaps
Yeah. I signed up, because free points are better than a stick in the eye. What's funny is that it's Sept 28 and takes 36 hours to get your account set up, and it's a weekend, so will be interesting to see whether or not September birthdays get anything out of this, or miss it til next year.
Honestly you'll get more out of bing rewards than this new stuff.

Shit just got real.

Microsoft boosts security at Xbox HQ to new level, gearing up for next console
Microsoft has been officially silent about plans for a successor to its Xbox 360 video-game console, but here’s a telltale sign that things are ramping up behind-the-scenes: The company is boosting security to an unprecedented level in the area of the Redmond campus that is home to the Xbox team, GeekWire has learned.

The company notified employees this week that it will be implementing new physical security measures — limiting employee access at four key Xbox and Interactive Entertainment Business buildings to ensure confidentiality of upcoming products.

It’s the first time Microsoft has taken this step on such a broad scale. The move represents a cultural shift, giving Microsoft’s key consumer products a level of security more along the lines of those implemented by Apple.

Microsoft hasn’t said when its next console is launching, and executives didn’t reference any specific product plans in their communications with employees this week. However, if the company were aiming for a fall 2013 launch of a new console, it would make sense for preliminary systems to start arriving soon for internal use and testing.

The changes will affect Microsoft Studios A, B, C, and D, on the west side of state Route 520, starting early next month with Studio A and rolling out to the other buildings by the end of the month.

Under the new policy, only employees and vendors in Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business or assigned to the buildings will have open access. Other employees and vendors who need to enter the buildings for business reasons will need to go through an online registration process or register at the buildings as visitors, escorted by another employee with access to the buildings. The changes don’t impact the Commons area in the middle of the Xbox campus.

The changes are part of a broader plan to improve Xbox security, including document management. Over the summer, apparent details of the next Xbox version were made public in what was described at the time as the “Mother Of All Microsoft Leaks.”
Microsoft has historically had an open access policy across its Redmond campus, with employees able to visit any building, with rare exception.

I try not to rattle Grim's cage too much.... even though he HATES Brady. Patriots have become the Yankees of Football, so I can understand where he's coming from.

I've seen a couple other like Hypertrooper. They're here. Like Shadow Ninjas...

Yeah- we'll have to see it in action to be sure, but it looks like the LOD distance and AF are pretty low on the bigger outdoor maps. If that's what they had to do to get a stable 30 fps for multiplayer, though- I'm OK with it.

That shot gives me a little more hope that Valhalla will still be bright and pretty (but still crappy and blurry so I won't repost it :p).

I'm also fine with that. What I don't like, and it's something I noticed on Exile, is how the ground textures very unnaturally meet with canyon. It makes it look like the ground texture is just stretched over a floor or something. There have to be some tricks to make it look less angular, like having some brush or rocks scattered along the edge.

Well personally I don't buy anything off XBL unless it's through the rewards points. Doing the survey nets you 240 MSP a year, plus the 400 you get for reupping your sub, bonus for Netflix, etc. It's not much but it pays for the random arcade game or trinket, and I'm not investing any points I might not use later. Good enough deal for me.

I was active on B.net in the, like, six months leading up to Halo 2. I posted a ton during I Love Bees. Can't remember what my user name was, though.

Edit : Where are we going to be able to watch FUD once it starts airing?

When are the birthday rewards going to start being sent out? Mine was last week and I don't wanna wait another year for a reward, lol.

Definitely YouTube, maybe Waypoint?

Yeah, it certainly seems like they could improve those seams without having it impact performance- but what in the hell do I know?

I'm going to be really curious to see how forge maps perform when they start hitting MM. Hell- I'm just curious to know anything about forge beyond that one obscure panel demo we got a while back.
