I personally think they didn’t change the mode too much because they wanted to keep the simplicity of it intact. You know the setup, loadouts and tactics from the start, adding another layer would imbalance the simple nature of it. Not to say I don’t agree with you, it is kind of disappointing that the selection of weapons has not been widened.
I feel the opposite about the medals, blown up they look hideous but smaller they looks totally fine.

That was basically the only logical reason gameplay wise they could bring up. It is not very sound, but would not be surprising if they argued that way. Other than that reasoning, they either did not have enough time to go balls out with the mode or down the line matchmaking/playlist changes will be implemented to improve the mode.Replacing the UNSC Shotgun with the Scattershot disrupts the simplicity of the gametype?
I just can't tell what the medals are. When you look at those medals in a row like that, they all look the same to me, which is not the case with Bungie's medals. They don't have a enough contrast off each other and some of them are relatively complex art for something that needs to seen so small.
Don't mean to get argumentative with you, just slapping my thoughts down on the page.
Is the Halo 4 Dashboard theme out? I'm not really a theme guy, but this one looks pretty cool.
I hope the Mech portion opens up and isn't just funneling you through some dank loading bay.

This is the best post of this entire |OT|. It should be plastered on the first page of the next |OT| and tattooed on the hearts of millions.
I can see the thruster pack being very useful, but how awesome would it have been (and scary) playing as survivors and the flood being partially cloaked or something? They could have had a certain guttural breathing sound that gave them away the closer they got. So if you had a group, it would be haunting. I'm just looking for things to change up the gametype outside of visual improvements that don't really improve game-play.Well I think you just said the solution yourself, thruster pack. Certainly infection is a one sided mode on purpose. For the infected in the beginning and the survivors towards the end. And I can say personally I've never really struggled to kill a survivor when I had evade. Now I've seen how thruster works and I know it is really different from evade but it looks like the improved flood version will be more than enough to kill a few spartans. If you're creative in your approach and don't just run straight up I think the Flood players will do fine. In my experience it's always been about using that zombie jump and the lunge to approach from an angle that the survivors would never expect. Like using the doorway to get up to sword bridge on countdown or all the knarly jumps on uncaged.
Yes, and ask some solid questions, please.Totally yoinked that H4 Gold logo from the Bulletin tonight. Shit is sick
edit: Bobs, I'm not sure I'd consider it a "mass" meet up but there will be a decent number of us. Not quite sure if we could do a 4v4 of just us. Also, with the way lines work and shit I'm sure some of us will play a game before others.
We do need to get front row of that panel though and show some HaloGAF love there.
Crazy to think 343 started in a pokey little office. I always thought they'd have been Microsoft's golden child from the very beginning.
Well we all want it to be true or come true, including myself, but the game isn't even out yet. Best to keep hopes and dreams tempered slightly. I'll be super happy if half of that list ends up coming true for Halo 4 by the beginning of next year, when people will have had ample time to play the game and come to honest conclusions. This is the best post of this entire |OT|. Name, names.
I don't often promote speed runs here but this one is in the MUST WATCH NOW category. It was supposed to be a Waypoint exclusive on Monday but it was somehow missed. The run was submitted by HISTORY100, a new Japanese runner who is currently destroying the Halo 3 Legendary records table by significant margins.

Would you mind elaborating on some of those? I don't want to be a downer or anything, it's just before release it doesn't seem to mean anything. I can see the Halo 1 power through the shorter kill times with a lot of the weapons, and I can see the Reach "balls" in how it's trying to change the formula, but what is the Halo 2 soul? What is the Halo 3 style, and how is it not redundant with Wars' presentation? What is the vision in ODST's storytelling that you see in 4?Halo 4, at this point in time, to me:
Halo 1's power in gameplay.

I really hope the logic behind mentioning the ranking system right before the game's launch has something to do with saving the best for last. *crosses fingers*

Xbox press site has a new video uploaded about Halo 4 remix contest.
I don't want an arena system that requires X number of games over X amount of time. I just want something that takes into consideration what I do whenever i can and want to play. But that doesn't mean I want the Reach exp. system, either (barf?). While not everyone liked the 1-50 rank, it was simple to grasp and gave a player an instant reward for playing. How is this a bad plan?Dreams a free.
Honestly I do not expect much in the way of a competitive ranking system for Halo 4. I would love for a ranking system that brought back the same feeling of 1-50 from Halo 3, but I am not to sure it is going to happen for me in H4. I have an odd feeling that we are going to end up with a rehashed Halo reach "arena" based system that hopefully iron's out some of the issues that evolved with reach. However I do not believe any ranking system could replace the same sense of feeling that I personally experienced from 1-50. Although I would love to be proven wrong.
343 please prove me wrong.
Episode 1 premieres on the 5th (Friday).Random question... What date does FuD come out? (5th or 6th?) Plus does anyone know how long the segments will be? Being Australian with capped bandwidth, I don't have that much to spare..
I'd love an arena like ranking system...

I'd love an arena like ranking system, without the monthly rank resets. If you get to onyx, you can lose it if there are people who rise above you. If you want your rank back, you'd have to play some more games. It would basically be like a leaderboard.
So if you don't play, you start to lose your rank. If you bought your high rank and you're way worse than your rank indicates, you'll lose your high ranking.
The only problem I see with the system is that after a while, new people would have to play a lot of games to get to a high rank.
At least we can still complain about the limited amount of forge news.Just read the bulletin (Completely forgot that it came out today). Great read. Hard to believe that it was more than a year ago that we saw the announcement trailer and we were complaining about the lack of info.
