I'm a massive Halo 3 fan but even I have to admit something feels off about it in this collection. Seems as though the 60 FPS makes the movement feel slower than it did originally. It's not a case of misrembering as I've been playing it weekly for the last year. On top of that, the aiming, particularly with the sniper, feels noticeably harder. H3 snipe was always the hardest to use in the series (most rewardingly so) but I've gone from regularly dome peeling to sometimes hitting the head, sometimes missing four shots in a row completely. Obviously it's been hard to generate any momentum or consistency with the way MM has been in MCC, so that's a factor. My aiming has been fine in all the other games though.

Could it also be the Xbox One pad I wonder? I don't like the longer sticks and I'm genuinely completely missing melees because of the restrictive new bumpers. I know how to hold the pad to allow a consistent bumper hit but it necessitates placing ones thumb on the right analog stick in a way which is not comfortable for me. Seriously considering investing in one of those adapters which allow you to use a 360 pad on the One.
Im thinking it is the XB1 pad and sticks - and how each game is calibrated. The controls feel tighter and better calibrated in Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer then in classic H2 or H3 for instance. As you said, its most noticable when sniping. Double zoom in H2 or H3 - it feels so off. There are massive dead zone problems. H3's aim in particular feels very loose - I actually use sensitivity of 1 in H3 MCC. I use 2 or 3 for all the other games.

I really hope 343 revisits the controls. DICE ended up adding like 15 different sensitivity options for certain situations in a later patch for BF4. Maybe 343 can do the same thing for sniper rifles - or zoomed fire.

I tried matchmaking for 10 mins today and didn't get a game (UK).
Tried Halo 2 Anniversary list for 4 minutes, then Halo 3 list for 4 minutes and then Team Slayer list for 2 minutes before giving up.

Strangely it was working for me yesterday though.

So guys matchmaking is fine now? This is my 6th match and it didnt kick me out of they lobby. I am happy :p

One the side note, where is the epilogue that they were talking about which connects this to Halo 5. I beat halo 2 last night. Saw the opening cut scene with lock but nothing at the end.

Absolutely not. Had the game what, 5 days now? In that time I've managed to find 2 games. And they weren't even full.
 
On a separate note, I've come to realize the friendly (possibly enemy AI in some situations?) has turned to complete shit in the Halo 2 campaign. I suspected something was off the entire time, but allied marines will always seem to stand around doing nothing, refuse to follow you to the next areas, sometimes randomly run and jump around in little circles going nowhere. The Halo series has always been known to have the odd moment of questionable friendly AI but it's FAR more prevalent here than I remember it being. It actually blemishes the campaign for me quite a bit and I'm curious to see if anybody else has noticed this massively overlooked (as far as I can tell) problem. Of course, I realize it's possibly only been overlooked because the multiplayer is so abhorrent.

Oh, and is there a reason why Halo 3 appears so obviously washed out compared to all the other games?

If it is a case of the deadlines being off that's a massive problem that needs to be treated if this collection is going to fulfil its promise and become the definitive edition of each Halo game. MM issues will be fixed in time but stuff like this can go completely unacknowledged. If I can't be accurate due to factors outside of my control, I don't want to play the game.

Wow. I'm finally seeing some improvement. Got into 3 games today. 1 finished and lost connection at results and the 2nd finished and completed and the 3rd finished and completed.

2 out of the 3 were voted Halo 1 slayer and the 3rd was team brs halo 3. Needless to say I enjoyed 2 out of the 3.

Ok I take back what I said before. Just got into a big team that was 6 on 3 and my 2 teammates quit leaving me 6 on 1. I'm out till 343 gets their shit fixed. I'll play single player but fuck playing online till this piece of shit is fixed.

Still can't get any MP games to connect. East coast US. This is just horse shit. So jealous of those who can play and so tired of the "s" word. I wonder when/if the game will work as intended. Too bad GS won't allow refunds now in my area. Too many have come back evidently.

Yes and no. 360 => One system architecture is different. Halo 3 used some trickery to do the lighting and water physics while Halo 4 used some trickery for particle effects and water. The transition of the architecture means that these effects aren't translated properly. If they had a bit longer to work on it, I do believe that Ruffian Games could have achieved it, but it wasn't entirely because of the rush.

So, I don't know if I'm the first person to notice this, but the Mauler and the Spike Grenade are called the "Excavator" and the "Claymore Grenade" in the carnage report. Video proof here.

How is shit like that even possible? Did ANYONE test this game?
 
I too am getting the crash to dash when pressing 'Y' to view the previous games stats.

Also the Halo game is causing probs with me connecting to the Destiny servers. Even if I have the game open for 5 seconds, if I then switch to Destiny I get the 'marionberry' error and I have to restart my console. After the restart Destiny works with no problems.

What a huge mess.

Really liking it so far. There are some downsides, such as the framerate being a bit jittery at times and I have had some issues with models fading in and out even at point blank range. But despite that, loving it so far.

I fix it just by restarting Destiny myself. Then it works. I too started getting a ton of this error after MCC came out. It seems that if you play it then play Destiny You end up with this issue. At least I am.

Yea even with the bugs they did a good job. I feel they did a lot better job staying true to Bungie's designs this time around. I even love that the gravemind is actually closer to one of the Bungie concept pieces for him.

Yeah that was a big plus for me it really does look like if H2s style was done today and it's fantastic.
 
Two MP games later and the matchmaking system is refusing to work for me again, at all.

I don't understand how they thought this was ok, did they expect the matchmaking to suddenly work better when a few thousand people are searching instead of just reviewers the week before release?

Some of the things we are all experiencing with this collection must have come up in testing.

Also did not one single reviewer save and quit mid level? no one ever bought up the loss of checkpoint saving.

*edit* I waited 15 minutes in a clean fresh lobby, nothing, the xbox one actually dimmed the screen from inactivity before I called it quits.

Game is complete broken pile of shit multiplayer wise. I've played TWO matches since launch... All I've gotten connected to after many attempts.

Today all I'm getting is connection failed, your connection to the host has failed, errors.

So very sad. How does this have anything above a 50 score!? I mean it's 50%+ broken,

Actually those are signs that it is at least trying to connect you now, it's just whoever your trying to connect to may have shitty NAT since the servers are down.
 
Yeah I'm going back to advanced warfare and playing legendary campaigns until I hear its better in this thread. Got dragon age and gta5 this week anyway.

343 has some if the best brightest folks... How did this crap happen to a halo game? Halo made online mp where it is on consoles. Sighs.

I am a huge supporter of halo too. But my trust in 343 caretaking halo is being chalkenged.

Yup, it's completely broken. I was just doubting my own ability to 'Save + Quit' before quitting but I verified it just now: it's completely broken.

Well I can officially stop saying that they'll have it fixed by the weekend. It's more broken than ever. I've tried to be understanding, but this is just too much.
 
Haven't seen anyone talk about the broken invisibility. In remastered graphics Chief's legs don't go invisible when you cloak and there are a lot of weapon graphical errors too. Like shotgun shells don't turn invisible inside the shotgun, the plasma doesn't turn invisible on the front of the gun for the plasma rifle. The plasma rifle also has a graphical glitch that I think is caused by intersecting geometry which causes the polys to act up. Very annoying to look at.
