Yep.

Heresy: I'm not a fan of either Assault on the Control Room or Two Betrayals. I think it's the constant up-and-down, one bridge to the other side, go around this room monotony that starts setting in.

The only level I actually have a hard time figuring my way around though is 343 Guilty Spark. Whether or not I end up wasting time heading back up to the broken lift, or I end up in the same rooms, seems entirely arbitrary. That one's going to suck trying to speedrun, I'm probably just going to watch someone's run and then just pause constantly to parrot it.

For me CE's melee system doesn't really age that well; it always feels a little cheap when I feel like I've sidestepped an Elite and he still thwacks me, and that makes it a bit harder for me to judge when to time melees. And on Legendary, infection forms turn into a legitimate threat; you're better off making sure you killed them with a pepper of AR fire or a shotgun blast rather than missing the melee and having them deplete your shields.
CE's melee is fine, you just don't get a forgiving lunge and have to actually aim, kinda like the precision guns compared to later Halo's as well. Claw or change your settings if you are having trouble aiming your melees.

I usually just round up spores and whack them with Melee as well, they don't do a whole lot of damage, and are pretty easy to manage. I only shoot them if I am in a bad way with no shields, or trying to preserve my Overshield, otherwise I just kite em and melee.

I had an actual dream last night that to compensate players, 343 announced a Halo Reach port for Q2 2015, and it was a free download for everyone who registered MCC before December 2014.

Won't happen but it was a cool dream either way.

--Popping carrier forms from a respectable distance. Yeah, other guns can do that too, but since carrier forms end up creating a few more spores you're already equipped with the right gun for those.

Two shots with a pistol will take out a carrier form even on Legendary and its also very useful for dismembering limbs in order to disarm any pesky flood that are too far away for the shotgun. It can also clean up spores just fine if you know how to use it at all and don't have the cojones to just mêlée them. A much better choice than the AR IMO.

I disagree, respectfully. Using the pistol in The Library on legendary just seems like a recipe for a ton of disaster especially if you're using any melee strats.

I don't even know what game you are playing at this point, Pistol wrecks Flood and is the only long range option for the Flood. The amount of damage you can do to Flood swarms before they can even get close to you is invaluable. It's also effective up close as well if you don't have your Shotgun at the ready.

I actually usually switch to the pistol for that great reach and clear field of view whenever I go to mêlée the popcorn. It is also far from a recipe for disaster. I just completed the Library solo LASO and had a blast. I never switched from my shotgun pistol combo even when I could have picked up the launcher.

Pistol + Shotgun is basically all I run with the final levels. Rockets are great and all but I tend to find them not effective enough and prone to backfiring too much.

Yeah. Pistol Shotgun is probably the best thing to run on The Library.

So yeah, using Halo waypoints profile mission tracker method to figure out which levels the game hadn't registered legendary completion properly, I've finally done it!

The last missions I had to replay again on legendary to get it to register where the final 3 missions of H2A "Uprising", "High Charity", and "The Great Journey". Christ, I've done in a week what would usually take me a month or two to do with most other games. Well worth the £40 considering the hours I've put in!

Still got to complete them all in co-op, only got the solo box filled out for all of the campaigns!

I'm glad there are no co-op full campaign achieves. I don't care as long as it's done one way or another, and I'd rather do co-op on Legendary anyway. Except that stupid Lone Wolf one, AGAIN.

Not really. Plasma rifle destroys flood. That and Shotty. Plus it's hard to find the "head" of big flood and on the small flood it's a waste of bullets.

The lone wolf achievement is just dumb, considering how bullet spongy Knights are. I finished Halo 4 on 4 player coop legendary, and I'll probably never touch it again.

I did halo 4 on legendary solo the first day it came out (did the same with reach) It was the easiest campaign aside from ODST on legendary.

Halo 1 and 2 are the worst solo legendary.

Well maybe I'll give it another go tonight just to see then :)

What's the worst that could happen? Oh no I have to play a level from a video game I love again

Only part where I felt the weight of the spongy Knights was the final platform to platform section of Midnight.

I don't think Halo 4 was particularly more aggravating than any other Halo game on Legendary (for my part I think it's a tossup between 2 and Reach.)

Reach is neck and neck with 2 for solo legendary difficulty, IMO. I did Reach but not the day of launch. It took awhile.

H4 solo I finally did this summer, to 100% H4 and complete 1-4's achievements.

Halo 4 was the easiest Legendary for me.

I hope they add saving theater films to your harddrive. You seem to only be able to view ones in temporary storage ATM (and it only holds 12 films). No save option.

Plasma Pistol is the 3rd best weapon against Flood, especially if you got a quick trigger finger. Not sure why AR is being suggested, Plasma Rifle and Plasma Pistol are better because you can kill Spores and not be useless against the big guys without having to switch weapons.

Backpack reload glitch comes into its own on The Library, never reloading makes it a lot more manageable. Just tap XX then Y to swap to your other weapon, blast away then switch back to your other weapon after you hear the reload finish. If you run Pistol/Shotty most of the level like I do, then you can constantly do this.
My man. We should run legendary sometime

I've already done Reach solo on Legendary, and I'm currently 5 levels into Halo 2 solo on Legendary..... It's just that I really don't like the prometheans or Halo 4 that much in general.

That's what I usually roll with.

Why does finding their head matter? Flood don't take extra damage from headshots in Halo CE, I thought.

I'm torn. I want to finally play Halo 1-3, but I also want to play them on legendary. I've started Halo 1 on Heroic and am a couple of levels in.
Already finished Reach and 4 on legendary and it was amazing.

sure they do. You can headshot the big flood.

Which one?

Also, it's worth throwing Halo Wars in for most aggravating Legendary, even though it's apples and oranges. The difficulty rollercoaster on that campaign is ridiculous it makes Halo 2 look tame.

You can play each level from the final bravo or charlie point and still get credit for it.

yeah Wars = not an FPS so not really what I'm talking about here ;)

I love reading the different weapon combo strategies people use for different levels/scenarios. A lot of these encounters I literally thought I was doing the only sensible thing in my mind. Makes me excited to replay some of these firefights.

Halo 1 and 2 are the worst solo legendary.

I didn't find Halo 1 to be that bad at all (but it was the one I played the most. 2 was easily the most difficult for me.

I loved Halo Wars Legendary. It required some pretty tough teamwork in coop.

I started Halo 3 on Heroic as my first Halo, then played the following games on that difficulty. CE and H2 are totally new for me, last week I finished CE on Heroic, but I was about to give up at Two Betrayals. The last bridge with the Banshees on top and the Banshee flying part was something I can't even imagine on Legendary.

BTW Is Halo 2 Heroic harder than CE?
I only managed to finish the first level with BR+Plasma Pistol yet, that was not much fun. On the 2nd level now everything's fine (got stuck at the warthog/beach/terminal part, then lost the checkpoint). I'm still thinking of dropping the difficulty.

I'm also doing each campaign as a playlist. Could I have missed out on some achievements because of that?

AR was great against spores on Library Heroic.

This. Shotty + Plasma Rifle = Truth. Pistol doesn't do that much against Flood in CE, and don't bother using the Sniper because that doesn't even hurt them at all lol

So almost get to the end of The Outskirts on Halo 2 Legendary...

..and the game freezes and crashes. All progress is lost...again, like Cairo station.

Sigh, so back through sniper alley I will go. ARRRGGH!

I am the biggest Halo fan, but it seems they want to test my patience to the extreme

I think it certainly is. However I also seem to remember the first level being the worst of them all. Some of the fights in those hangars are ridiculous.

I've seen this twice while playing. The game had no idea what I was trying to select anymore. It had multiple things selected as I moved the stick.

I had just gotten out of a game with a friend so I wanted to invite him back into my lobby since we got split up.

I hit X to go to roster, this shit comes up and I can't move my cursor anywhere anymore. The best part is that GT on the bottom left wasn't even online and not the friend I was playing with and we were not playing the H2:A playlist.

The fact that melee didn't do damage never made much sense to me from a fiction standpoint, but it also was kind of a bummer they fell apart so easily in Halo 3. Which, to your point… does the SR do damage in Halo 3?
