Lol at the hyperbole overload. Game is over 3 hours from launching in the US

Yeah no kidding. This isn't DriveClub a game made and marketed to be an on-line connected game and for 3 straight, solid weeks rarely anyone could get on-line at all. Game is not officially out everywhere and some people are able to play on-line, granted there are some issues, but it is not at the DC level at all.

To be clear the DriveClub reference was just me saying something is fundamentally a bit wrong, I wasn't saying it won't get fixed. MS are known for technology hosting. They're probably already working the problem.

And yes, the frame rate in Halo 1 is not 60 fps locked.

Well, it hasn't been out for three weeks, so your point is a little silly.

But I do feel like freaking out just as the game launches is much too early. I'll happily give the game a couple days to get stable -- I'm much more intent on actually finding out if Halo CE will get a nice patch, actually. They won't fuck up the online play in the long term.

I cant remember the last big game, focused on online, that had a smooth release. Did CoD AW did it?

Destiny was as close to perfect as it gets.

Advanced Warfare was a biiiit problematic at first, but overall well into the "first day woes" range that I'll happily accept.

Both Destiny and Titanfall launched flawlessly for me. Reaper of Souls is an expansion obviously but it's an online only game on PC and that launched with no errors as well. I was really optimistic the launch would go smoothly since it is Microsoft afterall....

Destiny was pretty damn smooth considering they had PS3, PS4, 360 & Xbox One all going live at the same time it was actually pretty impressive. COD AW was not too bad, I had some connection issues, but nothing major.

Destiny and COD AW launched with minor hiccups at worst. Activision has exceptional experience launching huge online titles. I think it's the super ambitious titles (See Diablo 3, Driveclub, Sim City, etc) that try to push a lot of features reliant on a stable connection and good server side code that fail at launch. Halo MCC might be too ambitious with how they patched 4 games together for MP and everything... We'll see.

Yeah, I'm not justifying this mistake. Actually I also thought we would have a smooth release. Its because it came to my mind DC and B4. Not sure about CoD AW though. Did not remember of Destiny (I also didnt buy that).

They've been limited for a week now, it's due to Call of Duty DLC not working.

I don't think that's it. Go into Settings > Network and do a network test. It tells me that my connection is fine but there are problems with Live. Coupled to that, my NAT is suddenly Strict (as is everyone's in my party I was speaking to).

Maybe you read my post incorrectly, Driveclub has been out since October 7th, so it has been 4 weeks and a few days since it launched. It was 3 weeks straight until more people were able to get on-line with it. I was able to get online with DC once in the 3 1/2 weeks that I owned the game and that was trying every day since launch.

Fuck still no matchmaking. Servers aren't up yet. 3 more hours I guess. They better be ready by then

CE is smooth.

I will probably wait until a few minutes post launch to turn on my box then, don't want to deal with any delays and possible "install traps"

The servers are probably getting crushed because a lot of people hit install when their preloads unlocked. Backing out to the dashboard and reloading the game page gets around it.

Did you open the game exactly at release time or have it open for a bit before?

Excuse my ignorance but do you know when dedis will go up? I really want this launch to be smooth on my day off.

You mean dedicated servers?

No idea, I played couple of game this weekend. Had to wait 15-20min to find a game. Today I waited more than 20min and still can't find a single game. I have no idea how these reviewers reviewed the multiplayer section of this game.

Servers should/will obviously be up by 12EST though.

If the matchmaking is still broken later tonight after it launches in the US I'm sure custom games could be arranged here (or some other thread if this isn't the place).

Oh, so when a developer states their game will be using dedicated servers for MP it's okay when that doesn't hold true? Why is it even happening when they claimed they could just "spin up servers" when they needed to?

66% now and I've been downloading this for like 5-6 hours. Ugh, this is really disappointing. If the download isn't done by like 11:30 PM I might just go buy it in stores and try and get a refund or something for the digital purchase.

pulled the plug. uninstalled, re-downloading, I'm back to 10% already, getting a steady 5-6MB/s down (Comcast), if it stays consistent I should be in good shape.

100% downloaded, now downloading on my roommate's xbox, he's buying retail but with any luck he won't have to reinstall the patch?

Mine stalled out a couple times, I paused, waited a minute and unpaused. not sure if it was really stalling, or just taking time between downloading segments.

I don't think a refund is going to happen for the digital purchase.

I just picked up my X1 today. So how long can I expect to wait until the hard copy installs with patches? With a 40 mb dl speed.

But they will use dedicated servers. It may be having problems now, but we dont know... maybe tomorrow everything is alright already. Or maybe not. But we dont know.

Yea my friend had his nat type suddently switched to strict too despite being hard wired and everything. Seems like the Xbox Live issues could be causing that? Idk seems odd since it's not an isolated issue. If you haven't you may want to go check that.

Anyone able.to explain to me why halo ce is a choppy mess in new gfx mode when driving a warthog?

Sorry, I forgot to answer:

The truth is that no one knows. The other games seem to be mostly ok with holding the 60 framerate, other than Halo 4, but CE is apparently the ugly duckling of the bunch as far as performance goes. We don't know why, but them's the breaks.
