Are they trying to kill the community before it even starts? You'd think this would be something they'd make sure WAS working at release. Considering it's literally half the game.

They thought they'd have an extra day because of the 15GB patch.

-Started a custom game of Lockout Anniversary Slayer Pro FFA, ended up in Team Crazy King
-Checked my career stats while in MM search, both menus then got stuck overlaying each other and I couldn't get out of that
-The few matchmaking games I did play worked perfectly, only to have the game lock at the loading screen after the match every time
-Backing out of MM with a party means your party explodes every. single. time


And the rub is once you're playing the games (customs mostly, at this point) everything is freaking glorious. CE MP is absolutely astounding here. Hopefully they get this stuff sorted out quickly- because goddamn when it works, it works.

Haven't had problems with matchmaking all morning. searching solo is possibly helping. Also like TLOU, if I don't find a game after 1 min or so I back out and research instead of letting it queue forever.

I'm sure the matchmaking is sullying my experience at the moment (it's as terrible as everyone is saying. Hearing strangers bitch about it in the incredibly rare matchmaking games I hop into is proof that it's not just a NeoGaf phenomenon), but overall I'm really underwhelmed by what we ended up getting last night.

I played a few quick levels from each campaign and came away impressed with Halo 2 and disappointed with the other 3. The performance/framerate is the biggest misleading factor in this. Just sucks to have 343 pull you along by the nose to then get...this.

It sucks that there's a more consistent (read 30fps) experience in the Xbox 360 games than here. There should seriously be a 30FPS option for all the games, as incredible of a request as that is. The framerate dips are that distracting from the experience.

Another gripe is that I can't believe Ruffian nor 343 took the time to fix some of the draw distance issues in the Halo 3 and 4 engine. I'm just really surprised that they kept the terrible LOD that was persistent in Halo 3 and didn't even modify the range of when foilage pops in in Halo 4. Why did they not do this?

Anyway, after the reception of Halo: Nightfall and now the launch of MCC, the vibe I'm getting from 343 for everything they "produce" is that "it's good enough" and they push it out the door. I'm sure they thought Nightfall had some pretty glaring...flaws when it came across their meeting room table, but it was "good enough" to push out to market. Same with this collection and its promise of "60FPS". Good enough, they're getting 4, nearly decade old games, ship it.

Just sucks. Doesn't feel like a lot of love and care went into the execution of this, just the thought of it.

Anyway, serious first world problems going on here, but I just felt like I was misled by 343 about what I was getting, which just leaves me disappointed. Maybe if I set my output to 720p on my Xbox One, the framerate will stay rock solid.

Yeah Halo CE MP is so good. Really enjoyed the matches I played.

I disagree. I think H2 is gonna be the most played. It's the one that esports leagues are using for their competitions and I think it had the better maps personally.

Which eSports league is hosting Halo 2 Classic? I've only heard of H2A, which I said will probably be first in activity.

I just can't understand how Microsoft and 343i could botch their biggest launch of the year... But that's not even the worst, in my opinion.

After the Halo 4 fiasco at launch, all their lies with the first DLC error, everyone thought that they'd do better. That they'd communicate properly with their community. But what do we get? Nothing! People with advances copies and then in Asia and Oceania have been pointing out that matchmaking wasn't working for days now, and 343i said nothing. Then came the Europe launch, people couldn't play. 343i ignored them. Now with the launch in the Americas, took them more than 8h to have a ridiculous tweet where they barely acknowledge what's going on, and since then, there's been NOTHING.

And I'm not even going into the technical problems with the games itself... Ridiculous framerate, long loadings screens in Halo 2, impossible to play in splitscreen...

It's just incomprehensible.. A studio created from the ground to continue the Halo franchise, which is KNOWN to have one of the most fanatic player base in all the world and they are completely incompetent at communicating with such.

Try fully rebooting your console, as in disabling 'always on' and turning the console off then back on. That often sorts any dash related issues.

Just got back from Best Buy with my copy and currently installing the game. The only bad thing I don't like from the Best Buy bonus is the map book is that it's spiral bound book.

That actually seemed like it would the coolest feature to me apart from the maps. I mean, just prop it open on the arm of your chair or nearest flat surface, flip to whatever multiplayer map you are on atm and WHAMO you have an awesome glance reference for quick brush-ups on maps you haven't played in a while and perhaps for some strat changes mid or pre game if what you are doing isn't working.

Mad jelly that I don't have one. Digital doesn't get anything physical yet. :/

What control scheme are you guys using?

I tried the classic one with RB as reload and X as mele, but it's so hard for me to play like that, since I'm used to halo 4. I switched to the halo 4 controls, but to crouch you have to hold down B instead of just pressing it once to stay crouched. I hope it's just a glitch and they fix it.

It may not lend itself well but you'll get used to it, nothing worse than learning a control scheme then going on another game and pressing the wrong button!

Team Slayer isn't working as well as Halo 3 but seems to be working every other search I make which is better than the others.
