From 1 to 10 how woke is this so far for the people who watched the first episode?
The story still the same while adding some nuance on some of the Characters actions? Or will they follow the story so far verbatim?
Ita not verbatim which in my opinion is a good thing. If I wanted verbatim I would have just watched a TLOU cutscene YouTube remix.I haven’t read anything about the show, is it going to be how GOT was?
As in the books are the guidelines but they have some creative licence? Or will they follow the story so far verbatim?
Got you triggered huh?I’d say it’s about a ‘get a fucking life’ out of 10.
Part 2 is a good reference.Lol, what should we be looking for to rate the show's wokeness?
Not really no.Sarah is black now so for you that's probably an 11
That’s good.About a 2/10 if the casting choices bother you.
But I wouldn't say it's woke at all.
That’s very detailed. Thanks. I will give it a go. Hopefully they don’t fuck it up by season 2.Black Sarah
Mexican Tommy
Hispanic Joel
Ugly Ellie*
Disfigured Tess
But they are all mostly decent in the roles. Ellie's actress doesnt look ugly tbh. She looks fine. A bit plain but Ellie is supposed to be plain. I am more pissed about disfiguring Tess. The actress gives the best performance in the episode but she supports a giant bruise on her face that is very distracting. Classic case of Neil going out of his way to make female leads ugly. It's funny that her new model in the remake was criticized for looking trailer trash but she looks far better compared to the tv show version.
Other than that, there is really no woke stuff. The actors despite being miscast all give a decent performance especially Sarah who I thought was better than Ellie. Tommy doesnt have much to do but Pedro Pascal is fine. Not my Joel, but good mainstream Joel the audience can immediately connect with. They are trying to humanize him here which is odd but not exactly woke.
if you can get over the casting decisions, there is really nothing woke here. Just a warning. Bill from Boston now has a boyfriend who is still alive unlike the game so thats probably episode 3. But just having a gay character doesnt make something woke imo.
You could’ve just simply ignored the question. Already got my answer.Doesn't this ever get tedious?
Oh I meant when she went round and was choosing a DVD to borrow and the grannies blurred out behined her but opening her mouth and doing weird stuff. That kind of thing creeps me outYeah that got me too. Something about Joel yelling at that woman to get back in the house and lock her doors sounded so fucking real to me and that just made shit so tense. Tommy not hesitating to run the infected neighbors over. That whole scene leading up to the airplane crash was pure panic.
Watched the first episode, I thought it was a mixed bag, some parts I really really enjoyed and found quite engaging.
Other parts I found really slow/dull.
I think the episodes are super long though.
I also liked the tv versions of Ellie and Joel more than I expected.
Edit: when I say mixed bag, I don't mean anything bad, I just mean I really enjoyed some parts and found some parts dull (before anyone tells me I'm wrong or whatever)
These seemed to have picked up on some wokeness with how they changed Joel's character(more docile, Sarah doing everything for Joel since it seems Joel can't do it himself)You could’ve just simply ignored the question. Already got my answer.

Yeah that other scene was great an all, it got me thinking though, could you run your neighbour over though if you didnt really know what was happening
well, there is a few I probably would..
"Jesus Joel" gets attackedcould you run your neighbour over though if you didnt really know what was happening

They liked the game parts but not all the added stuff which felt more like padding and ruining the pace than adding anything meaningful.
Also global warming is now a factor in the virus' existence.
More docile, not completely docile compared to game Joel. Probably also referring to Tess who Joel is now seemingly awaits orders from rather than taking initiative.Loads crap.
Docile? Joel literally gives no fucks.
He picks up a dead child throw in the fire without second thought. Treat to brake the jaw of of a guy who was trying to preach fireflies on him. Punch through a soldier face. Throw Ellie into a wall.
In what part of this episode Joel was Docile?
Merely stating a fact counts as hatin' now?Wtf is wrong with you?
I swear you can just watch the god damn thing 8nstead of being a bitter hater
Wait...mentioning global warming is "woke" now?
Is this going to be woke once they mention vaccines as well? lmao
Also Joel is docile? The same Joel that grabbed a dead kid and threw into the fire because the one responsible for the task couldn't?
Troy did a much better acting

Of course.You preferred Pedro?
Would depend who's mentioning it and why. Neil seems progressive these days so if he included it into the story now then it could be for woke reasons. It could be just a minor detail in this new version of the story or something that's expanded upon later in the show, it's too early to say if it was a meaningful addition or not.Wait...mentioning global warming is "woke" now?

Holly fuck. Tess and Joel interaction is literally 1 to 1 in the game. Even in the game tess was leading the way till she died facts.More docile, not completely docile compared to game Joel. Probably also referring to Tess who Joel is now seemingly awaits orders from rather than taking initiative.

These seemed to disagree and found Tess a lot more in charge compared to the game. Could be a good or bad change, depends on the rest of the series.Holly fuck. Tess and Joel interaction is literally 1 to 1 in the game. Even in the game tess was leading the way till she died facts.
Watch the 5 minutes and you'll get your answer.
And yes you are hater. Let's just cut the crap
That's for episode 2. I'm sure they won't just accept this and move on. They were on the run at that point anyway.Overall I liked it but something bothered me about that scene where they found out about Ellie’s infection, it was rushed and felt nah its like she was so ready to say the line, also I was expecting a reaction from Joel. Other things was ok and still I think the cast could be better than this specially Ellie tho I really liked Tess.
Good episode I give it 8
¯\_(ツ)_/¯Of course.
I didn't wanna say. They will confront Ellie. Afterwards. When they get to a safe place. It's on the trailer of the showThat's for episode 2. I'm sure they won't just accept this and move on. They were on the run at that point anyway.
I'm telling you right now they are full of shit. The dialogue between Joel and tess os almost 1 to 1 with the game. Tess is dealing while Joel is pissed off on the background. They show what happened to tess and Robert pretty much the few hours before tess wakes up Joel when it the game the 20 years later pops up.These seemed to disagree and found Tess a lot more in charge compared to the game. Could be a good or bad change, depends on the rest of the series.
I'm not hatin', I'm pointing out changes the series made compared to the game.
I'm waiting for the whole season to be out before I'm watching it.
Replay the game and pay atention. You dont know what you are talking about.More docile, not completely docile compared to game Joel. Probably also referring to Tess who Joel is now seemingly awaits orders from rather than taking initiative.

It gets harder to watch on each playthrough and i was in suspense waiting for what was coming."That" scene is even more devastating in live action...sheesh.
This is why I keep saying that you don't have a good understanding of the story. These seemed to disagree and found Tess a lot more in charge compared to the game. Could be a good or bad change, depends on the rest of the series.
I hope the show gets so woke it gives someone a heart attack.
He's not even speaking from his own opinion. He's just parroting what an outrage YouTuber is saying for monetized views. You dont know what you are talking about.
Exactly. If anyone is softer in the tv show is actually Tess and not Joel. But that can’t be said otherwise the “woke” narrative fails. This is why I keep saying that you don't have a good understanding of the story.
Tess was in charge in the first game.
Go back and watch the first encounter with Robert's men. She was demanding that his men tell her where Robert was located. When that man told her he would bash her skull in, Tess said, "Fuck this" and shot him dead.
When they finally caught up with Robert, she was the one who interrogated him and shot him dead when she didn't like the answers he was giving her.
Oh, this was also the same Tess in the video game who was ready to shoot Ellie as soon as she found out she was infected.
