Well then. What's the big deal?

And they should report the error. There's no such thing as data plots without errors. My supervisor would laugh in my face if i ever submitted crap like that. :/

well then they should also correc the part where they call it 'Sony's format'. It isn't

It ende up at 75% for the week. And this week seems to have hit 71% as well, likely due to continued Casino Royale and now Rocky sales.

That's all the numbers this week?

EXTRA EXTRA!!

Casino Royale on Blu-ray sold 85,000 units in one week!

That's almost 60,000 more than the previous highest selling title - Departed on Blu-ray which sold 23,000 on its opening week.

This was confirmed by a Sony insider and that they are going to release the sales figure publically in a few days when the number hits 100k.

He also confirmed that both Spiderman 1 and 2 will hit Blu-ray in September - most likely alongside Spiderman 3.

in the meantime, Amazon continue stocking blu-ray, cementing its status as a mainstream product......on the other hand HD-DVD is just not selling :lol

Also, homemedia retail confirms that the Matrix movies are set for May 22 with Blu-ray editions following suit. Hopefully, Warner will give the Blu-ray versions their own transfer instead of porting the HD DVD versions. The next few months are gonna be fun.

Matric collection HD-DVD won't help the format much

1. Has Warner itself announced it?
2. It's a whopping $100
3. If it's true, it comes out the same day the blu-ray Pirates and Mission Impossible 1&2

It won't make a dent on HD-DVD sale number

Did those goons at Microsoft, Universal and Warner kill your dog? You are way to emotionally invested in this. The way I look at it if Blu ray wins I'll only have lost $200 dollars. You on the other hand have 63 movies? is that right? Well I guess I can see why your so invested not only emotionally but financially

Elaborate. Am I notorious for being a loser? I don't see what's so funny to you and Christopher.

I don't own 63 Blu-Rays (or HD-DVD's) and I don't get off on the bad news/good news of a corporation.

TheDigitalBits called Toshiba a hypocrite....well kinda

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents

Around the Net today, Toshiba is apparently fighting back in the industry press (see this story at Engadget) against the BDA's claims of last week that they expect their format to oust standard DVD in the storage realm in three years (click here and here for that). Toshiba's Deputy General manager of HD-DVD, Olivier Van Wynendaele, calls the touted 3 to 1 software sales advantage in favor of Blu-ray "propaganda", because he claims that those numbers were artificially inflated by free Blu-ray movie vouchers being redeemed by PlayStation 3 owners. Now that would be a shocking claim... if Toshiba could show hard data to indicate that they haven't included all those free copies of King Kong (that were shipped with Microsoft's Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on drive) in THEIR format sales numbers, and if they could further show that they won't be including in their future sales numbers any of the FIVE free HD-DVD movies they're now offering anyone who buys one of their HD-DVD players. This seems a lot like the pot calling the kettle black to me. And by the way, it was THREE free movies just last month - an offer they were running way back in October of last year (click here). So which camp is it that's working harder to inflate their software sales numbers now? HHhmmmm... How long do you suppose it'll be before Toshiba starts offering $100 players and TEN free movies? You just watch - that'll be their holiday promotion later this year. I'll tell you what, this format war is rapidly becoming a joke. Can someone finally just end this thing, so we can all move on? Universal? Hello?

Are his movies suddenly going to stop working if Blu-Ray fails? Sure, he's invested a lot of money but it hasn't gone to waste regardless of the outcome.

I said WOW. I guess there are ~some folks out there hungry for HD content and I'd expect to see even more PR showing Blu-Ray's adoption growing faster than DVD's. The advantage Blu-Ray (or HD-DVD) does have over DVD is that there are tens of millions of folks out there with TV's that NEED Blu-Ray. Upscaled DVD just doesn't come close.

So while it's a more moderate step over DVD than DVD was over VHS, they have an audience already demanding content. It will be interesting to see if we start seeing some more day and date titles for Blu-Ray. While I hated Borat, it probably would have been another high demand HD title.

This is one reason why i'd rather invest in blu-ray.
I doubt sony will ever drop blu-ray movies from the PS3 platform, without at least an option to add it in via software.

Since there is no doubt that the ps3 will continue to be produced for years to come, all of my movies will work for years to come...

With Sony/FOX/Disney/LionsGate strength at the box-office last year, this year and next year (Bond 22, Wolverine, Narnia 2, Angels & Demons), blu-ray is guaranteed with constant supply of box-office movies.

Here's a little article about CR blu-ray first week sale

Full house for "Casino Royale" DVD
Wednesday March 21 9:03 PM ET

"Casino Royale" blasted its way to the top of the national DVD charts Wednesday, proving the new look of James Bond is as much a hit in video stores as it was on the big screen.

The 007 thriller, which grossed $167 million in North American theaters, bumped reigning champ "Borat" to No. 3 spot on Nielsen VideoScan's First Alert sales chart and No. 2 on Home Media Magazine's video rental chart during the week ended March 18.

Also new was "The Holiday," which bowed at No. 2 on the sales chart and No. 3 on the rental chart.

"Casino," which stars Daniel Craig as the new 007, outsold "Holiday" by more than 3-to-1; in rental stores, "Casino" generated an estimated $9.2 million in revenue, compared with $8 million for "Holiday."

Sales of "Borat" remained surprisingly strong during its second week. The irreverent comedy is now the No. 3 DVD seller of the year, behind "The Departed" and "Open Season."

"Casino" also made a big splash on Blu-ray its first week in stores, outselling its nearest competitor, "Departed," by 9-to-1. "Casino" is now the No. 2 Blu-ray seller since the format's inception in June.

duckroll just showed me this:
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/av/docs/20070322/bandai.htm

JAPAN ONLY RELEASE DATE AND PRICING.

July 27, 2007
-Akira (blu-ray)
-Wings of Honneamise (blu-ray / hd-dvd)
-Patlabor (blu-ray / hd-dvd)

August 24, 2007
-Patlabor 2 (blu-ray / hd-dvd)
-Ghost in the Shell (blu-ray)
-Steamboy (blu-ray)

September 22, 2007
-Avalon (blu-ray)
-Jin-Roh (blu-ray)

All come in 2 disc packs with HD-DVD or Blu-ray + standard DVD and are a whopping $100. Note that most of these movies cost $90 in DVD-only version.

So much for Bandai Visual having to stick with HD-DVD exclusive due to contracts....

The price is horrible, horrible. But I'll still buy Jin-Roh and maaaaybe Honneamise if no US versions get announced by then.

BRDs have region-locking huh? And this probably won't have English subs. GRRR, announce a US release, Bandai!

US and Japan are the same region and a lot of these will most likely have english subs and dubs.

Still a much cheaper US version would be nice.

Yeah but He's also being an ass. Universal must have brokered a deal with Toshiba and that deal probably has a significant walk away penalty. Bill Hunt is an idiot to think that Uni can up and leave at the drop of a hat and he's an idiot to think that Toshiba is going to sink a billion dollars of investment because he thinks they should.

The release date is 6/26. Not saying it won't come out, but a lot can, and will change in 3 months.
