I wonder if your resolution is set to 4K @30hz. Vsync is the answer but it will cap to the refresh rate of your display. Check that in the Nvidia Control Panel under Display->Change Resolution. Check the refresh rate.

Oh man I could kiss yah. I switched my TV to 1080p at 60Hz and it made a huge difference. Full HD is fine by me as long as there's no tearing.

A lot of early 4k TVs only have 1 HDMI 2.0 port (mine for example). If you're only getting the option for 4k@30fps, chances are you put it in one of the HDMI 1.4 ports.

Check the back of your TV, the 2.0 port should be a different color (mine is red versus the regular black ports) or have some other indicator or marking.

Your computer is good enough to use a better display than that. What visual port are you using for your TV? To get the most out of the card (980ti?) you need to use a display port. HDMI doesn't have the bandwidth to do 1440 or 4k. HDMI will only do 1080 60. It will look pretty bad on a native 4k screen too.

Ended up ordering this with the 970 and the SSD. Time to see what this PC gaming is about.

Messing with graphic settings for hours and troubleshooting obscure incompatibilities. Oh and be prepared to upgrade that card in just 6 months from now.
grats have fun!

I have purchased this product. Most money ive spent on an online single-purchase in like 10 years. But the deal is simply too good and peoples impressions are fairly positive. Even if a card came out tomorrow that obliterates this the deal is still good. My 4770, 16gb ddr3 and 2gb 770 will replace my old ass bedroom computer and this new beast will become my new TV fun.

I dont think this is right... mine is running 4k 60hrz on my Samsubg JU7100 which is connected to my Denon X2200W.

HDMI 2.0 can do 4K Video at 60 Hz, 2160p, and 48 bit/px color depth.

•HP Wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 1x1 with Bluetooth M.2 NIC (Stone Peak 1)
•6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 980Ti [DL DVI-I, HDMI, DP, DP, DP]

Total USD: 1338.27

Man... so I pulled the HDD 2TB HDD out of my old computer and connected it to this one last night. I have never had so much trouble just connecting a wire to my motherboard. The case is so cramped, it's a nightmare doing anything in there espeically if you have big hands like I do. Really it's a mess, I took a picture that I will upload... soonish.

Also I took a really good look inside the power supply and sure enough there was a wire touching the fan that was making that loud noise. Really poorly built machine compared to my past Dell/Alienware computers, I think mostly due to how small the tower is, but then again the X51 is much smaller but everything fits into that case much better.

One thing I will say about the Phoenix is that the liquid cooling does seem to really help with the noise. This thing doesn't get nearly as loud as my X51 with a GTX 660, or any of my other past computers for that matter.

Hey. Not sure if this will help but there is a few things you need to do when playing 4k on a Samsung TV (which may have been the cause for tearing).

It took me quite a while to figure all this out.

1. Use a HDMI 2.0 cable + graphics card (you have the card).
2. Set the HDMI1 port on the TV to PC and rename it to PC. This can be done when selecting the source, it gives an option to edit.
3. In the Samsung settings turn on UHD Colour mode. This is needed to get above 30fps as far as I know.
4. In the Nvidia control panel, you can now select 4k 60hz and you can set the display to full color mode (I think I have mine at RGB).

Hope this helps any bit!

I ordered this computer on Sunday. Was too good to pass up on. My boss was offering me $1000 in educational credit which I was planning on saving for the next gen cards, but I said fuck it I needed this. Told him about this which I'll use for work too and got a check for a $1000. I'll have to pay around $380 out of pocket.

I think it was a good call.

Damn will they restock on the 980ti? I was going to jump on this when my Surface Pro 4 sells

Probably not before this promotion ends. Happened last month where they ran out and it wasn't restocked until just now. Keep your money saved up because they'll likely be running this same promotion next month.

Got mine!

Upgraded to an SSD (256GB) and popped the 980Ti in there for good measure!

Twelve hundred and fifty seven U.S. DOLLARS!

Did the same, but also upgraded to the 6700k. I'm debating on just buying another case and mobo and taking the components and putting those in the new case.

You'd probably have to buy a new copy of Windows 10 then as well. At that point you might've well just built your own.

Unless you have something specific that you need that the case and mobo doesn't accommodate (memory overclocking, a second gpu, multiple pci-e cards, etc), I wouldn't bother.

I've got 4 HDDs + USB3 pci-e card + 32GB of ram in mine and have done some meaningful stress testing via Kombustor. Every power cable coming from the PSU is accounted for and in use, along with every bay and all but 3 USB ports (including the 4-port pci-e expansion).

CPU fan is always quiet, GPU sits at 79C under max sustained load (and is as loud as you'd expect it to be) and the system is as stable as Warren Buffet's stock portfolio. If you want to move your parts to a new core, make sure there's a really good reason to do so and not temps or something. This system replaced my 7 year-old Dell i7-920 system that was just as dense internally. It gave me only 1 issue in 7 years (eSATA port stopped working) while being less organized inside and warmer.

Know absolutely nothing about PC gaming. If this is capable of at least running games at the 1080p and higher than 60fps I'll save up for it and make the switch from console lol.

I want you Americans to know this. I want you to appreciate this one simple fact.

You earn more money than we do, but your currency is also worth more.

I want you to know that.

I ordered last night, and after reading reviews like this, I'm so glad I did. I used to love building my own PC, but I don't have the time or desire to do it anymore.

Cheers. You'll be well pleased. As has been said, it's tight in the case so getting around in there will be inconvenient at times. If you have big hands, you'll have to take out the GPU to add the additional SATA ports. Good news is, you do that once and you won't have to ever do it again. I'd recommend getting 3 extra sata data cables, plugging them all in when the computer arrives and letting them dangle if you don't have a HDD at the moment just to get the process out of the way. Everything else is like putting on shoes. Simple and straight forward.

Can you share what RAM you used as an upgrade. I'm considering doing this myself. Can I just add 16GB in the empty slots or do I need to do a full swap? Anyone know what RAM would work for a simple add?

So is the 970 still worth it? The price for everything else I would want is $1084.29.

I wish they had an option for a 600w power supply for when I go to upgrade the video card in a few years, but reading everyone's comments it doesn't really seem like as big a deal as I have made it in my head.

Ugh, I'm still debating this, but some current issues in my work life are making me hesitate pushing the button.

Trying to scrape together the money including selling my consoles, in order to get this. Lol. You're not alone, damn good deal for a computer that should be pretty damn good for years.

I've still got one with a 980ti in my cart. I assume if I check out with it, they'll replace it with another card? I guess I shouldn't have waited so long, but I always hesitate on big purchases like that.

You can either add more memory to the open slots or do a full replace. If you add more memory to the existing, the new memory will be made to perform at the level of the existing ram (lowest common values wins). If you do a full replace, the system can benefit from any better features the new ram can offer.

Is this desktop pretty customizable on the user end? I already have my own but I'm looking to mix and match parts with what I have now.

I would wait, plus newer cards usually get more power efficent.

I was going to splurge on the 6700k, but I'm in the hole deep enough already lol. It's going to be torture waiting a month before the thing arrives. Does anyone know why the hell it takes like three weeks to ship? Do they really need that much lead time to build the thing out?

They probably build it in China (for cost reasons) and ship it from there by boat.

Yup. This happened to me today and they nearly got away with it. I had one with a 980ti in my cart and I checked out with PayPal Credit. Luckily the credit got declined lol because I saw only after the failed payment that they ended up trying to charge like $1024 or something and replaced the 980 with the basic 745 lol. I ended up just buying a bundle with the 6700k the GTX 970.

I ordered the standard 2TB HDD but I want to put in my own SSD as soon as it comes, I'm assuming HP includes a backup disc so I can install Windows on it?
