HP deal is back (i7-6700, GTX 980Ti, 16GB, 2TB, 500W) for $1127 with coupon

Anyone else having issues with checking out? I can build with a 980ti and get to confirm order fine, but it declined both my CCs, which I have been using fine elsewhere and then it barfed on the paypal order screen too.

Oh well, no discount VR ready upgrade for me!

Use a different browser, or a different device, or both. You've come too far to let a glitch stop you!

Oh the quandry of pulling the trigger or waiting for new graphics cards...

Do I need to upgrade...I have a i5-3570K and a GTX 670

Maybe I should not...since I mostly play Kerbal on PC and PS4 for everything else...

fyi - the 980Ti option is back in stock and the coupon code has been extended.
God damnit I hope they let me switch as my order from a couple weeks ago is still processing

Edit: nope. Fuckkk meeee. I can't even cancel and reorder because they said it would take time depending on how built your PC is blah blah. Fuck.

I would still cancel. Get what you really want. Call and escalate it to a supervisor, their CS is garbage.

How upgradable will this thing be when new Pascal cards drop?

It's an i7 6700 or 6700K with a PCIe x16 slot and enough power supply to run a 980 Ti.

SLI is no go (since it only has 1 PCIe x16 slot), but it should be able to run any single Pascal card that consumes at most as much power as a 980 Ti.

So yeah, I think you'll be fine.

Jumped on this back when this thread was first posted, getting a bit anxious waiting for the desktop to ship but I'm still pretty excited. I hope it gets here a bit earlier than the predicted date of April 25th, but either way it should be great to finally have a usable gaming PC again after using a laptop for quite some time.

I did not have time to post as I was at work when I posted all of this and purchased my PC, but HP called me about 45 minutes after I placed my order. They just wanted to confirm my address.

Even more weird, they called my cell phone, which I did not put down on the order.

Since I still had the order open in my browser I actually called them out on the cell phone fact and asked how did they have my cell phone number if I did not use it on the order and the kid seemed pretty flustered. He said it was because they check public records first for phone numbers.

Thing is I was under the impression my cell phone was not listed.

Whole thing was just weird, but I have no reason not to believe it was them.
Call was from Texas, which I know HP is from.
They did not ask for my address, they told it to me and just asked me to confirm.
Did not ask for any financial stuff.
Just wanted to confirm my address.

Was just a bit odd.

I do wonder if it is because my credit card company made me confirm the purchase. It was probably flagged on HP's end then went through. Who knows. Was just weird.

So a recent move + big purchase was triggering the payment decline.

Sorted now...and ordered HAWT PC! Ships on April 20th.

Went for 16gb RAM, 980ti, 6700k, 512gb SSD, upgraded wifi. Gonna transplant the extra HDD out of my current PC.

I was just thinking about building a VR machine for my Vive and just saw this thread. Excellent timing and thanks for the heads up.

I hopped on this deal pretty quickly, about 16 days ago, and yet my order status hasn't changed from 'Processing'. I was charged immediately and I'm still two weeks out from expected delivery. This is all normal right?

I figured a little wait time would be fine for the deal considering I haven't been PC gaming in years now, but now that I've ordered it and am thinking about it I'm checking my order status twice daily obsessively.

I'm in the same boat, haha. I'm guessing we'll start seeing at least email/shipping updates starting possibly as early as this weekend if the last thread for this deal is any indication. I'm starting to get anxious as well even though I know it's not even supposed to come for like 2+ weeks.

So I grabbed the 6700K, 980ti, 16gb... My question is if the RAM is bad enough to warrant an upgrade or is it not a big deal? I'd hate to have a great graphics card being limited by substandard memory. Also, any input yet on if the PSU is adequate?

Realistically, how much cheaper is this than building it yourself? I want to pull the trigger but I'm house hunting and I'd rather wait until I'm settled in (one less thing to move).

The i7-6700K and GTX 980 Ti are about $1000 just by themselves on newegg right now. That was enough for me to pull the trigger.

I can't believe I just bought it, but whatever.

I was hoping to have it by the time Dark Souls 3 came out, though, but it looks like it won't ship until the 22nd...

Whew. HP support man. Submitted my cancellation request yesterday, they ended up shipping it around a half hour ago today. I contacted support and they submitted a RTS request (with the caveat it may fail and I may have to return it myself if it ends up sending lol), so hopefully since it just arrived and I just got the FedEx tracking like 30min ago, it is a quick turnaround and I get a refund ASAP. Luckily I have already sold my Surface Pro 4 so I got extra funds from that to make it easier to pay for my 6700k/980ti bundle right now. Excited again, let's go.

FWIW my cancelled order was supposed to ship on April 11th, so it shipped 5 days early. I've heard others mention similar early shipping so the wait might not be as long as they list.

Anyone know what kind of SSD they put in here?

I think I remember reading it was Samsung brand one, although I can't recall the specific type. My order states "256GB 3D SSD" which doesn't provide much further insight. But that does suggest it could be a Samsung 850. Either that or it's some HP branded one that I can't find details on.

Can anyone tell me how much approximately this would weigh? I'm considering ordering this and having it shipped over by some relatives, and trying to figure out if it's worthwhile.

A huge part of me wants to buy this.

My 2500k and 570 are pretty long in the tooth. But all I wanted to upgrade was the GPU.....but then Nvidia didn't announce anything at GTC this week...

Argh.......

Haven't noticed any problems with power, and by all accounts big brands don't cheap out on PSUs because they can take down every other component.

After a month of owning one of these, I don't have any major complaints. I'm worried that the CPU routinely goes into the mid-70s under load, but that's about it. 60fps 1440p Witcher 3 is still jawdropping after dozens of hours.

I ordered this the last go around and really haven't heard squat since. The estimated ship date has always been the 13th, but I was really holding out hope they would ship it sooner. I can't start Dark Souls 3 until I get it :(

Basically the same situation for me. Here's hoping it ships today/this weekend and makes it here by the time DS3 is out. I've heard pretty good things about HP's shipping speed (usually takes 2-3 days even with the 'free shipping'), but the problem is just getting the thing to move from processing to shipping. I'm guessing the speed is limited by how fast they are getting 980Tis to put into the custom PC's, but not sure.

Jumped on this. It's only a couple hundred more than the minimum spec Oculus Ready I could find pre-built. And this blows those specs out of the water. Can't complain, just hope it gets to me in decent time.

Received mine yesterday and I'm impressed by it. My WD Blue HDD should be here today so I'm sure I'll have a blast trying to fit that in the cramped case.

I ordered mine on the March 19th and I've been checking everyday to see if it shipped. Checked this morning and the order status says shipped. According to fedex the delivery date is April 13th. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited. Always been a console owner. Hopefully this will be a great into pc gaming.

Same here, I ordered on March 20th and just checked the status. Will be here on April 13th as well. Finally!

Sayyyyy, anyone in upstate New York or Vermont wanna help a brother-Montrealer out? I have syrup and poutine for trade. Also a boxed copy of Chrono Trigger.

Heads up: I placed my order on March 21st, with an original arrival date of April 22nd, and the order status just changed to "shipped" a few hours ago.

It's gonna make it in time for Dark Souls 3. Fuckin Christmas in April.

For anyone concerned, yes you'll run VR like a fucking champion. Best new computer purchase ever.

Oh also, forget about most aftermarket CPU coolers in the event you plan to do heavy video encoding work or something else that forces the cpu to full 100% for extended periods of time. I had to grind metal down in the most yolo shit I've ever done just in order to get the 4th one I bought to work. The issue is the CPU backplate and I'll leave it at that. Most aftermarket coolers are designed to sit on top of the existing cpu bracket backplate, but the backplate in these isn't compatible with those solutions.

In fact, if one day I'm here saying, "welp..." it'll be because my "operation" eventually caused the board to short. I was just in one of those, "idgaf" moods.

Corsair's Hydro line of coolers have a mount type that actually does work, but the case is too small for their fans and radiators. FYI, the case uses 92mm fans. 120mm fans and 140mm fans are all too big. Unforutnately I could find no other CPU coolers that used the Corsair style of mount. Trust me, I looked at at least 50 different coolers from 10 different cooler manufacturers.

GAF I need help.

I've never had a gaming PC before but I want to get one. I want to be able to stream at a good quality and have the PC last for a few years before I need to worry about upgrading.

Would this PC do the trick? Is upgrading going to be a hassle?

Nice to see the orders are shipping out now, I'm hoping that means I'll have mine shipped out by Monday (it had an estimated date of April 15th).

So just pulled the plug on this and am finally upgrading from my 2010 Macbook. I need a monitor for it though, anyone have any suggestions? I would prefer not to spend over 150 but I don't wanna get something crappy either.
