Launch day is upon us for arguably the most divisive AAAA game ever made. The first round of reviews were largely positive, but that hasn't stopped people from voicing their displeasure across the information superhighway.

Draugoth Draugoth , our biggest Dragon Age fan on the forum, said there absolutely no way he would play it. A shocking turn of events to be sure.

However, we still have some Dragon Age loyalists who have resisted. Can their positive word of mouth save this game? I do not know. Only time will tell.

So how about you, GAF? Day one or day never...

They f'd this up, i was beginning to get myself hyped that I was going to have to buy this at launch, but having seen the reviews and what they have done with this compared to what they let people see in the previews? Sorry, this wokeshit doesn't deserve my money (or my hard disk space) voting with my wallet

I'm very torn. On the one hand, the combat looks good enough and the graphics seem fine (although I'm not in love with the art style). On the other hand, I've heard a lot of criticism about the story, and the fact that a lot of the really high scored reviews don't even discuss the story much makes me hesitate (note: the dialogue I have seen so far is fucking awful and very robotic and unnatural).

I'm definitely not buying it on release. If I do get it, it will be on sale, after enough people have been able to comment on the story. I might have taken a gamble if I didn't have a backlog, but I'd rather get around to beating Elden Ring, Sekiro, and other excellent titles before investing in one that I'm not sure about.

First need to finish BD3, Drangons Dogma 2, Kindong Come 2 , Witcher 3 DLC, FF Rebird.

So Guess by the time I end those games it Will be on sale or maybe there is another better RPG around...

Preordered. Looking forward to firing it up in a couple days and also to seeing the boost it gets on PS5,5 pro in a couple weeks.

No for me right now, Ive played every other DA but Im pretty bummed by some of the stuff Ive seen. And I have some other games in the backlog Im anxious to get to.

But I have EA Play on PC... so we'll see if morbid curiosity gets the better of me down the road somewhere.

Even if you take all the culture war stuff out of consideration, the new art style, the fact that almost none of the previous decisions you made in the prior games will carry over, that you have no control over your companions, I just can't take this game seriously as a true Dragon Age sequel.

That will be my first Bioware game that I don't play at launch. Will I play it later on? Perhaps but the Skillup review pretty much killed it for me.

Dragon Age: The DEIguard is a an agenda pushing game that identifies itself as a Dragon Age game.

When my family members asked if I would play the new game ( I spent way too much time playing DA2 and Origins.) I said "No" and they were like: O:

As someone who only played the early part of Dragon Age: Origin back when it came out, Veilguard makes me want to go play Origin instead. It looks really fun.

I remember the first game being quite dark. Thought it even opened with some ritual that ends up with 2 dead or whatever it was.

From what I've seen from Inquisition and this one, that stuff is loooong gone.
Nothing about the gameplay reveal looked very interesting, either.

Won't be playing it. Looking forward to Stalker 2 next month and Indiana Jones in December. I'll get my sword and sorcery fix with Avowed in February.

I was hyped but canned my preorder. Not because of the internet drama but because I got into the alpha of the Destiny IOS game that's starts 11/1. When I'm done with that I'll probably still pick it up but maybe it will hit a sale by then.

Pre-ordered Dragon Age: The Veilguard digitally for Xbox Series X earlier today. Day fucking one for me!! I watched a few reviews. A few loved the game and a few didn't but none of them are ME so why would I go based on any of them? Makes no fucking sense to play games based on other people's opinion. I go based on the type/genre the game is and watching gameplay trailers. The 20 minute combat walkthrough they showed back in June won me over. Real time combat with pausing like Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth works for me. Story and character wise, I like the overall plot and premise of the game but won't know if I actually like it or not until I play through it but im sure as hell not going to go based on someone who liked or didn't like the game. I will make my own determination of the game once I complete it. I will either love it, hate it or it will be in the middle. Can't go any other way. Regardless, im hyped and looking forward to this Thursday. Let's go baby!!

Well, I really like my money, so I don't plan on spending a single cent on something that's just someone's sexual fantasy turned into a $70 game.

As someone who has no stake in the Dragon Age series, I was casually interested because I am an old, cynical, miserable gamer who is always on the lookout for something to play. I used to play everything, and now I play next to nothing.

I didn't care too much for the style in the initial trailer, but as a casual it wasn't the end of the world for me. I understood why it upset series fans, though. The preview they invited Tubers and streamers to seemed to go mostly well. Then the reviews dropped and the abysmal writing and poorly implemented identity politics soured me. However, as far as generic Action RPG gameplay in a fantasy setting goes, I will be willing to buy this on sale for a fuckaround playthrough for $20 or less when it's on sale, with the true sweet spot being $10.

Loved Dragon Age Inquisition. I never finished it because my apartment was burglarized back then. I'm not touching this trash game though.

However, we still have some Dragon Age loyalists who have resisted.
I consider myself one. As I stated in the review topic, I will wait for a sale, then hate-play it just to bone scout Harding.

And yes. I've pretty much seen what it constitutes to. Quite nothing. But it's been 10 years, my balls are getting quite blue at this point.

I was thinking the same until I watched SkillUp's review. He said the enemies are really spongy and combat becomes extremely tedious. He said he turned the difficulty down to the easiest level around 20 hours in, not because it was too challenging, but because it just takes way too long to kill enemies, and he said he knows of 2 other reviewers who did the same. And he regretted not doing that sooner.

Absolutely fair enough. For the record, I usually play most games on easy these days. I start on that difficulty and change as needed depending on the game.

This totally gets me ready to bone (time stamped). I'm gonna send it to my wife, for sure this is gonna lead to intercourse tonight.

Origins was super dark, they toned down the themes with DA2 but Veilguard is a completely 180.

There's a whole questline where you find out Darkspawn reproduce by abducting and raping human women.

In another quest you can sell your elf sister to get gangraped by human nobles.

I'll possibly give it a try a year from now when they've released all the DLC and it's sub $20US

I have zero faith this game is good. It reminds me of DA2 from the reviews I've seen.

Go watch Skillup's review on YouTube.

I always knew the writing was going to be complete shit which arguably is the most important of a RPG. So no, no I will not be buying it.
