They did have a sale on the Hero IAP for the first game not too long ago, like 66% off. If you're really patient, you might be able to get them for $2 or so a while's down the road.

It's just all that talking, I just can't get through it. For some reason, entirely my own, I read it all in the same super exclamatory tone which just makes it tiring to get through. I figure a story based game will have a lot of talking.

I hear ya. Ghost Trick was full of Excited Japanese Dialogue! But after a while I just got used to it. It was well worth it.

Name names (please)

I like: Geodefense, geodefense swarm, defender chronicles 2, sentinel 3 and Plants vs Zombies. Maybe Anomaly: Warzone Earth although it is a bit different (I still much prefer the ios version over the PC one).

Kingdom rush is great, just making the point that I wouldn't feel the need to spend $8 for a hero unless they seriously messed up the balance (in which case I wouldn't play it at all). On the other hand a couple of bucks extra might hit the spot. There are no shortage of options after all.

I guess I disagree that there are any better tower defense games. I'll probably buy a hero or two here and there just to support them, especially if they go on sale. The game just oozes a style and charm that nothing else can match.

That is fair enough. Hopefully the new one is a clear #1 for both of us.

Full disclosure: I haven't looked too deeply at Tubro League specifically and how it handles it's app <> server interactions but in general I know it's super easy to obfuscate this stuff on the iOS platform with virtually no trace of anything being 'wrong' thanks to Apple's authentication system. Parly because I happen to work with this sort of thing on the preventive side of things.

With some rudimentary knowledge of how iOS devices communicate it's easy to intercept what an app sends to a server, whether its Game Center or an app's native leaderboard server and then modify those values to whatever you want on the fly without compromising the packets being sent. Not just limited to scores but also currencies gained by 'gameplay' and whatever else one can acrue.

Is this why there are ridiculous scores at the top of many of the leaderboards?

Also, anybody from the US competing in Turbo Racing League for iOS/Android/Win Phone for the big cash prizes? For 8 weeks the top 10 people on the competition leaderboard get from $25k for 1st down to $1k for 10th, with the top winners competing for a bigger prize at the end.

We've already given away the first $50k of the prize pool. Kind of surprised to see more people in here not giving it a shot to be honest. Thought GAF would be all over it :/ Would be great to see some people here win.

More details here if you want to jump in http://www.facebook.com/TurboRacingLeague

Cool that you guys are doing this. If I didn't suck at racing games I might give it a go. Still, it is appreciated.

Liberation Maiden is on sale - I always wanyed to try it out, but wasn't sure about it, no I don't have a choice... I'll wait with Warhammer Quest until I read about it a little bit more.

Meanwhile I tried out Phoenix Wright and I am bit disappointed that Capcom didn't even optimised it for iPhone 5 - also, they should make it possible to go through the dialogues faster - now I'm not sure I would like to play through all this at normal speed.
When it comes to art work in higher resoultion - these are just pixel arts scaled up and then painted over and it looks somewhat amateurish. Original artwork was great so it's not that bad, but it could look so much better. Fonts are also quite small, it was already bit of an issue in the DS version but here it's just annoying. Overall this game just looks like a scaled up version of DS original - it carries everything the original had problems with.
Anyway writing is still fun and it's great series so whoever has never played it - try out the first episodes, and just bear in mind the first game despite the hd treatment is more than 10 years old...

Wow I didn't know there was an iOS port! Are there any other Guild01 games available?
I guess LM has a virtual stick tho, how does that work out? Game seems pretty frantic... I wonder if it's better on iPad or 3DS

Also: HOW LONG TILL WHQ goes up on the US AppStore?!

Played about 30 minutes of Warhammer Quest.

It is extremely polished and seems very well put together. It is clear I'll be spending some time with it.

However one major issue. Unless I'm missing something, there is no inventory button, and you are forced to turn the ipad to go into portrait mode to bring it up? It is really annoying me.

Unfortunately, this is the only one... I'd love to have Crimson Shroud on my iPhone...

I played it a little bit and it seems like I am going to have a blast with it - game feels like a Lite version of Zone of the Enders (seriously, you even drag your reticle over the enemies and launch multiple lasers at them just like in ZoE) but with crazy anime setting. Virtual Stick is IMO super responsive I didnt have problems with it (mind you I played for less than 10 minutes) and the game looks very sharp on retina. For 2 dollars you can't go wrong :)

Trust me, I tried. I placed in the top 100 the first week, but that was still way behind the top 10 and had no idea how I could shave more time. Gave up after that :/

works for Gamestop (lol)
We already knew Phoenix Wright would come out today since last week.

The other "modern port" is XCOM Enemy Unknown

phoenix wright is one strange port. It looks kinda goofy and for a ds/gba game, it sure does run like ass on my ipad mini.

Will test on my iphone 5 later... huh.

Ya I hear ya. A button for landscape mode to access the inventory should would be handy. Ill get used to the portrait mode I guess will take a bit.

Been playing a bit more and it isn't something I'm getting used to. The whole game is perfect for chilling on the couch and watching tv or doing something else, which is where you don't want to have to keep picking it up and turning the device. Of course the ipad doesn't always respond either and you then dick around with it to make the screen "turn".

Not the biggest problem in the world right now, but hopefully something they address because that is the only real negative so far (beyond perhaps increasing the movement speed a bit).

I feel a little bit let down from my first exposure to WHQ. Surely the traditionnal return to earth after the long and eager wait for a game.

First, the thing is translated to French with google, or the translator was drunk. Maybe it is a problem just located in the iap description but oh god. Problem is, even after switching to english I saw 1-2 typos in some texts during my session.
Maybe I'm too ocd but I like to understand even a little how the system works, and so far the tutorial and the pages I read of the journal didn't detail how some stats influence things. Maybe it will come to me with time.
And above all, why on earth did rodeo had to make attack animations so slow, I'm thinking of melee attacks here. Oh its not the end of the world, not too slow, just slow enough to be noticeable and a little boring. You barbarian is to hit on something, you bet he will take his sweet ass time adjusting his shot -_-

I'm not too disapointed, there is potential (not perfect but really nice looking, a neat gamebook feel with the quests narratives, seems long, etc...), just, bah I so wished it were flawless.

I just won a bet because the inventory thing is the first (and possibly the only) issue brought to attention here in the first hour. :)

For what is worth (I had the same issue initially), strange as it seems, you won't spend much time in inventory during the game...so you won't notice it as you do now (I admit it grew on me too after a while).

Enjoy the game!!!

Hmmmmm weird.
During the beta they had placeholder translations (google translator level) but some weeks ago they implemented the proper ones (surely the Italian one), but the iap descriptions (for some reason...no biggie).
Is the French translation still no good (I mean in game, not the AppStore ones)?

Merchant to the Stars seems pretty neat. Management game from the perspective of a shopkeeper in an RPG world?

You are the merchant to the stars. The top salesman in the tri-dungeon area. When a hero needs a new Pole-arm, or poison embed short swords they know who to come to.

Buy only the best gear from adventuring heroes, hone the weapons and armor to add new powers and abilities and sell back, for a tidy profit. All the excitement of a AAA RPG without all the fuss of combat. Maximize your profit, and minimize your losses as you become the ultimate shopkeeper.

As you level up, you will unlock new tomes of weapons that will aid your heroes as they battle in dungeons not fit for man, nor beast. Merchant features an entirely procedurally generated world, guaranteeing you will alway see something new.

Merchant to the Stars is the creation of the Doctor of Science, Mark Levin, who previously created such games as Top Gun and Warpgate. With additional art from Steve Tzé, sounds by Adam Fothergil and music by Whitaker Trebella, Merchant will remind you what it is to be in a fantasy world all over again.

Not the greatest looking game but I like where this is going!

Oh cool, you're a fellow Bel Paese countryman, I didn't know that

Yeah I'm feeling that too. It doesn't have to be much faster but the time really adds up and it is noticeable.

Don't we all :) Despite the quibbles I'm very happy with the purchase.

Sorry I will answer your question later, really have to go.
Must be the stupidest post on a messageboard, but as I hit reply inadvertently I had to elaborate a little. Sorry again.

Don't think it is explained very well that doing 3 stunts during a jump gives you the biggest boost. There are a few other tips dropped on the Facebook page.

If you made the top 100, may want to give it another shot.
