Honestly, I feel PC gamers have every right to get angry at Rockstar.
No other company disrespects a certain platform like they do.
The only other AAA company that comes close to shitting on PC was Ubisoft, when they brought in always-online DRM and deliberately released PC versions 1 month later.
But even Ubisoft came back to those decisions.
On top of that, it's all so weird with Rockstar:
Does anyone understand the logic of their game releases?
- LA Noire PC released only 5 months after the console versions.
- Max Payne 3 PC released simultaneously. Edit: I was wrong: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=108868200&postcount=221
- GTA PC games: somehow Rockstar likes to makes this sphere of mystique around even the existence of a PC version.
No other company does that: either they make a PC version and release it simultaneously or very shortly after the consoles versions, or, they are a company that never releases PC versions at all.
Rockstar follows neither of these 2 common situations.
It's the ''we are always supportive of the platform, just look at us releasing games like l.a. noire'' line they tend to use in responce to questions about RDR and other releases that just pisses me off, they have every right not to port stuff but don't throw bullshit like this in our face.
I don't see it happening at this point, if they were at all concerned with the platform it would be out by now. They have a really good version of RAGE on PC, maybe its not that simple but 7 months after console launch we should have heard something. I'd love to have it on steam just to have it on a platform I will always own, same with RDR.
Now that there has been word of a SP DLC for GTAV, I'm pretty confident the plan is to release that and then release the "complete version" on PC/PS4/Xbone.

It's a video game and these are business decisions. The word "disrespects" doesn't belong in this conversation. There is no need to ascribe emotional labels to this inconsequential. Nobody is trying to hurt you.

I'm sorry, how is 'evidence' an obligation from Rockstar to release a PC version? It's not, they didn't announce it and it's just people complaining that the game they want isn't yet on their platform of choice. Would it be good for Rockstar to release GTAV on PC? Absolutely. They probably will. But getting angry at them for not releasing on PC when they never said they would is pretty silly.

Why is stuff like this even brought up? Cause i can't imagine people actually thinking otherwise, yes some people might be a bit more emotional about it but to be this condesending to others, just why. It makes you look like some corporate shill.

- About the PC version being developed very early in the GTA V dev cycle.
The first known explicit references to the PC version's existence date from... 2012-07-02.
This is not a typo.
Bulletpoint n° 25 in my first link talks about this. And there you also find more links regarding these findings.
These references were found in the PS3 version's code.
Most notable references below.
Also interesting to note they mention DX11 and x64.

Rockstar is not one developer. They're a publisher who owns multiple developers that happen to share the same name for branding purposes. None of the games you mentioned were developed by the same team and LA Noire wasn't even developed by a Rockstar studio.
Why save it for competing versions? They will just cannibalism each others sales. Maybe they arent releasing on PC because they will get more sales on the consoles and they dont like modding.

They're probably banking on desperation for stuff on their new consoles to ensure buys from them either way, which might be lost if they get on PC beforehand. Similarly they may have realized unlike SE that it kind of sucks to go PC for the "definitive version" only to get one with updated visuals landing ONLY on next gen consoles, so instead they make their updates and put that on PC alongside the next-gen versions.
If GTA V isn't going to be a proper PC port that is well optimized (AKA the complete opposite of the crap that was GTA IV on PC) then I would rather they didn't bother releasing it on PC.
It's not that RDR is too difficult or literally impossible to port, just that it would require a significant time and financial investment (compared to the average port) that is simply not worth it to Rockstar. May as well put the work into a sequel instead (and get them multiplatform monies I guess).
I waited long enough to where my interest in the game has largely faded. At this point, I'll just wait until Steam sells it for 5 bucks like they did GTA IV. That way...
The game is sold as cheaply as possible
Valve takes a considerable slice of said $5
Microsoft might as well, since Rockstar is so insistent on using GFWL
Rockstar deserves monetary repremandment for the massive delay, but they should also get the sale in case they one day decide to actually look at their PC sales data.
Do people honestly believe they'll release it alongside the next gen versions? In my opinion there is no way they will do this.
I think the PC version might have been ready for quite some time, but it's held back until after the PS4 and X1 versions have been released. These consoles will certainly get an exclusive window. So if the consoles get a fall release, we'll probably have to wait another year for the PC version.

GTAV is coming first for PS4/X1 and then a few months later MAYBE also for PC.
It's purely business decision. It will sell like crazy on next gen consoles. PC, especially pc piracy would hurt that.
Do you remember the fiasco of IV's release? That was not a very good port, at least at the beginning. Many crashes and such. So perhaps this time they're looking to avoid such a scenario.
Also I think they're looking towards a dual release with the DLC.

Yeah, I feel the simultaneous argument makes the most sense. No matter what Rockstar says a next gen port seems logical. The presentation and performance would benefit, the engine is tailored to look nice on high end hardware (if Max Payne 3 is anything to go by), and a port would assuredly sell pretty well.
Rockstar, however, is not a company know for wishy washy marketing. They're historically crafty and would never announce a next gen/PC port in any window that could potentially cannibalise 360/PS3 sales. I feel they're holding off for that reason: scoop up as many sales as possible off the back of DLC and all that junk, then announce the next gen build when they feel they can balance new customers with double dips.
GTAV for all its success, is still an unfinished vision. I really enjoyed the single player, and open world they created is probably one of the most fun GTAs to play around in. It's also clear that GTA Online was a significant part of this vision when they were designing it, because a lot of the activities and missions really felt like they would be much more fun to play with friends as well.
That's where the ball got dropped. Rockstar was completely unprepared for what it took to develop and support an online mode of the sort they envisioned. Things they promised would have been in GTA Online at launch, are STILL missing. It's unclear to me if they will ever get their heads out of their asses with regards to GTA Online, but I reckon that they would want to before launching the game on PS4/XB1/PC, simply because it would be to their advantage to go "hey look, now the game is even more complete and better than ever, time to jump back in again!"
There is no way this game stays on 360/PS3 only with the money they spent and the hard work it took. It also is detrimental that it stays behind. It could really benefit from next-gen hardware. Like posted above, the game is still evolving. Why evolve it for last gen only when those consoles are winding down? makes no sense.
It has the potential to be a great long-term seller for Rockstar until the next GTA releases. I'm sure there are very few years left in the last generation. It has to be ported over regardless. It makes a lot of sense and that is when it will be released alongside the PC version of the game.
They're delaying things to implement Max Payne 3s movement and combat/gore. Yes that's it.
I wish GTAV with Max Payne 3s combat *drools*
Seriously though I'm assuming it's just taking longer than usual due to them letting that gravy train sell as many copies as possible before announcing a port to PC/Xbox One/PS4. It's probably taking a bit more time to get all the ports done as well. Along with their DLC plans fuck only knows when they want to launch but I get the feeling they want GTA Online to be in a better position for a relaunch as well, with more features and things that people want. They just didn't seem ready for a GTA Online tbh, it all felt a bit halfassed to me when I played it and a bit too restrictive for what some people like in an online GTA game.

I firmly agree on your points as to why it's still not released (or talked about) on anything other than PS3 and 360. We just have to stop people from buying the 'old' version so we can finally enjoy the fancy version.
Seriously though, I hope R* sees a downward trend soon (it was on 5th place in both January and February NPD, only to be knocked off the top-10 in March) and feel the time is right to announce the damn thing.
I oppose any 'double-dipping' argument to explain delays in SKU releases. This is likely the most extreme and unsubstantiated consumer behavior there is. I seriously doubt any amount of people they can get buy the console version and then the pc version is comparable to the influx of players buying the PC version when it's day1 with the console versions sharing the original hype train, and that's before factoring the far better margins of the PC SKU.
Yeah, but that wasn't R* per se: it was announced during Sony's conference with nothing more than a logo image. There were whispers afterwards that R* didn't know what Sony had planned and it wasn't happy as the game was now out in the open despite being far from complete, but these were probably just rumours born from R*/Take-Two's silence on the matter.
I would expect the pc version to be released along side the ps4 & xbox one versions considering they all have the same CPU architecture. So they'll probably announce them all at E3.

I have always bought the PC version of GTA games (after playing them on console first) but oh man are the PC-only fans impatient. On the Facebook page for a major GTA fansite that I'm part of every post is full of stupid comments about how terrible Rockstar is for not having a PC version announced yet.
It's coming, people. Can we demonstrate a bit of patience? Is it really that hard?
It's not going to take that long and thinking that the DLC wouldn't be built simultaneously with the PC version is silly. It will be a port, not a new game.
I suppose I can wait, expecially after the atrociousness of the GTAIV port, possibly one of the worst ever made. Rockstar is unlikely to make the same mistake but you never know, and besides, plenty of games to play in the coming months
