Quick thoughts on [Alexandros]'s new album
JWboK95.jpg
Way more variety than their previous stuff. Definitely feels like getting a new name lead them to tweak their sound. Some songs are really surprising.
Dog 3 has a chaotic/epic intro that sounds like a J-RPG boss music, it's quite original and neat.
This is the album with the strongest singles imo. Run Away, Dracula La, Oblivion, Droshky, Adventure and ワタリドリ were all fantastic back when they released them so it's a pleasure to have these amazing songs on the same album. Hard to say something bad about this gem, everything is perfect. Flawless singles, top-tier new songs... Good job guys, it's your best album.

Sekai No Owari released Dragon Night in English.
http://youtu.be/gsVGf1T2Hfs?a
They should hire me as their English adviser.

The way that I met Taku, the singer of Nothing's Carved in Stone, was because the guy that helped him write English lyrics was sitting next to me at a hookah bar in Shimokitazawa, actually. Also, Kurita, you don't have to be jealous anymore. Taku hasn't talked to me since I texted him the day I left Japan ;___; He said he would take me out drinking with winnie (my favorite Japanese Rock band), because they're friends!! I'm so sad....

9mm Parabellum Bullet will release a QUADRUPLE (!) A-Side single on September 9th! It's been a while since their last single so I can't wait.
Teaser : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-NmaIurM_0
Hope they'll release an album soon.

Japanese rock OTP Kawatani Enon (indigo la End/ゲスの極み乙女。) and Kawakami Yoohei ([Alexandros]) after today's Music Station where they both played.
That number of RTs/Favs in a few minutes... :lol That's what you get when two of the most popular vocalists right now are on the same picture.

New SPYAIR single, very nice song.
Must say that they are the best Jrock band right now. All 3 albums are extremely Good, and they are making one Good single after another. Unlike OOR who lost their unique sounding SMH. UW not doing the best music either. Must look for new bands.
If you haven't listened to Spyair albums, you totally should. Start with "Just do it" ♪ ♬ ヾ(´︶`♡)ノ ♬ ♪

Tried to get into Spyair before but it's just too... bland for me I guess. It's not even bad, just generic.

As for ONE OK ROCK, I still think they do some amazing stuff. 35xxxv is one of their best albums by far. Mighty Long Fall, One by one, Memories, Stuck in the middle, Cry out... Even the slower songs are pretty decent, and I usually dislike these.
It's like a mix between their two previous albums.

Mrs. GREEN APPLE released the short version of their major debut PV.
https://youtu.be/Zo5z7ZKdBlE
Can't recommend them enough, they're fantastic. So much potential... Might be my new KANA-BOON haha

35xxxv is such a weak album, there's not a SINGLE solo from Toru nor some incredible drums playing by Tomoya, no doubt that it'd be awesome to hear these songs live, but come on, this album feels like there's no passion in it, I'm listening again to Memories, and it is a joke lyrical wise, it has to be.
Hope Taka will deliver for the next one, because God knows how I love them.

That makes me think that I've recently discovered an artist named Nano, she did two collab songs with Taka's brother (forgot his band's name), and she's so talented it's insane, hope she'll come in France one of these days.

Which Spyair songs did you listen?

3xxx5v sounds like a cheap American pop music to me. They tried to make "heavy rock" but it sounds Just like pop. So much of mainstream. The only song which I thought had something from original one OK rock was cry out.

So I did listen to all Ellegarden albums... OMG why such a great band was disbanded ?! They were soooooooo good. So many fantastic songs. The hiatus band by the same vocalist Takeshi had so much potential their debut album is amazing. But three other albums are meh. Now Takeshi made another band called "Monoeyes", which will release a single on 24th of June. Lets see if this will work out.

Some songs by Ellegarden which I loved

True.
I actually liked "Memories", but lyrics has killed it for me.

I tried all their albums. It's just not for me I guess. Their sound just lacks personality imo

As for the HIATUS my favorite album might be A World of Pandemonium, followed by Keeper of the Flame. The other two albums are also amazing obviously.
MONOEYES seems like ELLEGARDEN's successor. Takeshi Hosomi is back to punk-rock so I'm quite happy even if I loved everything he did with the HIATUS (I literally cried watching their last live DVD haha). Dude will forever be my favorite artist.

In other news, my friend is back from his stay in Kyoto and brought me my ticket for my first show in Japan!

When I was listening to "Just do it" I laughed out loud never expected them to be that good. Ikes voice is amazing as well UZs guitar play.

Takeshi is definitely a great artist. Maybe I should listen to other albums again.
Well I hope he won't create another band after a few years and will do some top tier work with Monoeyes. What about the Hiatus Tho? Will it be disbanded? :/

No they're still working on some new stuff actually, they're currently writing new songs. Both bands will be active at the same time.
Fun fact, Hosomi wrote 111 songs for MONOEYES. I wonder if they'll all become fully-fledged releases though... haha

I hope I haven't asked about this before, but I've got a request for you people who know your Japanese music history. I want circa 70s Japanese pop, perhaps folk pop leaning pop - reference: Yumi Arai. Songs, lists of names, links, whatever is appreciated.

Lillies and Remains
Galneryus
Suiyoubi no Campanella
Sakanaction
Kuusou Iinkai
Koochewsen
winnie
The Winking Owl

I should also keep an eye out on my favorite: Shibuya WWW!! Maybe I'll just see some Virgin Babylon concert again..

Curumi Chronicle is quitting music next month. :/

Mizuta Mari is starting a new solo project, should be interesting.
Yeah I saw both of those. Let's see how long mari's project lasts until she falls out with whoever is managing her this time. Kind of interested in seeing what POP is up to now that she's gone and they have new members. On a strictly musical basis, they were one of the most promising post-BiS groups before falling apart

Yeah I'm definitely looking forward to POP's stuff. Speaking of post-BiS projects, Lui Frontic has got to be the worst, nearly everything they've put out is average.

without a doubt. it's actually startling how bland and forgettable they are, especially since she was easily the best singer in the group. Matsukuma seems like the nicest guy imaginable so it's pretty telling when someone manages to piss him off so much he quits the band.

Yaaay for SEKAI NO OWARI, KANA-BOON and ONE OK ROCK.

They're amazing. One of my favourite bands.

...

Florida's mini album is really good, hope they release more stuff soon.

yes on both fronts. I've been obsessed with BokuIru since I first heard them.

my Hijokaidan x Yurumerumo dvd came in today, and while Ano is absent from the show (boo...), Tentenko is there for 2-3 songs for some reason, playing noise and a Florida-esque song.

a reasonable trade-off, imo
