Just bought a Wii U. Surprisingly, there were no shortages.

Did i do well?
Top 3 games on Wii U right now.

Some people really dislike the controls and pacing of ZombiU but I actually found that it added immensely to the atmosphere and gave each situation a real sense of "this could be it." If you get too cocky you're probably going to die.

Right now I'm playing through Deus Ex HR:DC and it's great. I've played through a portion of the PC version but stopped playing to play it on Wii U because of the gamepad. I think there are some frame rate issues at times and the audio could make use of surround sound a lot better than it does (dialog isn't fed through the center channel) but the gamepad integration is entirely worth it. Much less tedious to access everything than on PC.

People say Wii U lacks software but since Pikmin 3 dropped and especially in the last 5 weeks I've actually felt a bit overwhelmed with all the stuff that is available and will be available soon.

TL;DR, get ZombiU, Pikmin 3, Deus Ex HR:DC

I picked up a Wind Waker bundle a couple of weeks ago and I even managed to beat the game last Friday. Since I pretty much didn't have anything else to play, I decided to play the Wonderful 101 Demo that I never bothered to touch up to that date.

At first I was like, "the fuck do I do?". I was pressing all of the buttons, I turned into a Jello casserole and I think I even managed to do a forward thrust attack for no apparent reason.

After a couple of minutes, the whole attack system finally clicked with me. I was running around enemies, turning into a fist, a giant sword and a gun (and poppin' caps in everyone's ass).

That said, I definitely need to buy this game (or at least, ask for it on Christmas). Super Mario 3D World is just higher on my list of importance, that's all.

It is praticaly decided that I will get a WiiU for Smash Bros ... but this thread is getting harder and harder to wait =|

I have to think in my steam and 3DS backlog ><

It's pretty awesome seeing all this positivity for Wii U. I actually didn't plan on getting any of the next-gen consoles until next year, but after watching some Pikmin 3 videos before it came out, I was hooked. I can't describe what makes Pikmin 3 so good, but it's seriously the most fun I've had with a game in a long time. Maybe Legend of the Mystical Ninja co-op on the SNES.

Maybe that's the key. Pikmin 3's campaign is great, and the mission modes are addictive challenges solo, but the beauty of the game is if you can play with a friend. Mission Mode becomes a case in trying to work together as a team and the satisfaction of being able to say you've platinum'd all missions with another person. Or the flip side you have Bingo Battle which is possibly one of the best competitive multiplayer modes for a Nintendo game. Of course this is dependent on having someone around who can play Pikmin well, but if you have to make a new friend or teach somebody, it's worth it.

The box is nice, it was a bit disappointing when I learned that only the gamepad had zelda decals. I thought there was a decal of toon link or something in the Wii U itself.

Days 1 and 2 purchases (of owning my Wii U)

It's a good thing my laptop has HDMI-In capability. I am usually on the go and this makes console gaming so much easier. Just have to find a plug instead of having to find a TV.

When is Smash coming out? My friends asked for Wii party nights when they found out I bought a Wii U. :)

I pre-ordered a PS4 from amazon minutes after they were available. Last week, I cancelled my pre-order for two reasons:

1. Knack and Kill Zone were not getting me excited.
2. It wasn't worth paying 400 dollars to enjoy multi-plats when I already own a PS3 and a Wii U.

This was before the reviews came in for both games, which just reinforced my logic. Then we get this double bombshell of Link Between Worlds reviews and rumors of stellar reviews for Super Mario 3D World and I was knocked loose from the Sony Hype Train.

Personally, I have been plugging away at Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice, so that I may get on with Dual Destinies. That and about 8 others 3DS games I want to play that came out this year. Holy Christ the 3DS has blown every other system out of the water.

I have to admit that I have been neglecting my Wii U this year, but I realized how great of a system it is and have refocused my attention on it. I think we just have a tendency to get enamored with the new and shiny and not realize the great quality we already have. I also realized that with the Wii U Gamepad, the Wii U brings to the table more than simply better graphics - it can bring better gameplay. So, I am excited to try all the multi-plats for the system I have missed this year and see what the Gamepad has to offer them.

I reignited my Gamefly subscription because I realized if I wanted to enjoy all the games the 3DS and Wii U have to offer, I would be dead broke.

I put in all the games I want to own/try for the 3DS and Wii U since their launch (and that I don't already have - like NSMBU for example) and my list is 27 games long. 3 more than that by years end (Zelda, Mario, and Mario Party), then DK and Bravely Default in February next year.

I began to realize....I really didn't need to own any other system than a Wii U and a 3DS. Each has way more games than I could ever play and enjoy as it is.

Heck, I still have 5 Wii Games (Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Skyward Sword) and 5 Nintendo DS games (Apollo Justice, Professor Layton 1-4) yet to beat and that is previous gen backlog.

im typing this on the pad while 101 is running in the background.
man this system is so rad.

Yep, far faster UI than 360 or PS3, and it multi-tasks. The internet browser is really surprisingly amazing.

Try to read a NeoGAF page, and hold both triggers, then you can tilt the page with the gyroscope to quickly scroll between the top and the bottom. It's honestly extremely good. The only thing you can't do that well is type fast, but for just browsing around, it's awesome.

MiiVerse is going to be amazing to have on 3DS. And you can even make MiiVerse posts when you're offline on 3DS, and they'll be uploaded when you connect.

Got a U earlier this year and love it! More than a few games I really want right now, but don't have the money for(E-2 paygrade life). Won't be able to stop myself from buying 3D world, my savings be damned.

The fiscal cliff can't contain the awesomeness of eadTokyo 3d mario goodness.

i wanna know something about lego city

i hate lego games because you fight fight, die.... and keep going from the same point you were. I feel terrible about the lack of challenge, because you just keep mashing buttons to win. Its only a matter of time.

Does lego city works the same way?
I am only "10%" complete in the game, but fighting may as well not exist. It is the only Lego game I have played. I wasn't aware that fighting was that important or even that you could die. Yes, I have taken a damage or two, but only because I am fucking around. I have no problem with it since combat is so minor, it may as well not exist.

Another thing I wanted to say is how much I enjoy Nintendo Direct.

I saw Blizzcon last week and this week that horribly over-hyped PS4 launch party.

I much prefer the personalized and quiet presentations of Nintendo Direct to the hype-heavy, screamy/crowdy, ugliness that are large media events like Blizzcon and launch events. I would much rather learn about new games from a dude sitting and talking quietly in a chair, than watching some noisy rave.

Just my two cents.

...um... Why not play on the gamepad?

...um... Why not play on the gamepad?

Are all games playable on the gamepad?
If so then damn, that's amazing.

My Wii U is 2 days old.. don't really know the capabilities yet. In my experience with some games (Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3), it required me to use both the monitor and the gamepad for additional stuff. I was actually stuck on a level in Wonderful 101 until I realized I should be looking at the gamepad. :/

They were sold out at a Walmart I visited earlier

Question for those that have tekken tag 2 or injustice. I love fighting games, and when I pick up my Wii-U I am thinking about picking up one of these, I have my modded tatsunoko Vs. capcom stick, however I have no clue how the quality and performance of these games compare to their 360 and PS3 counterparts, or how the communities are.

The performance of both is comparable to or better than the other versions. Plus TTT2 has a bunch of exclusive costumes and modes.

I can't really speak much about the communities though.

TTT2 is an amazing port with bunch of exclusive features.

Injustice is...Injustice, it's just a port. Being able to play on the Gamepad is pretty much the only exclusive feature you'll get with this one. (Correct me if I'm wrong though.)

Both ports are solid performance-wise if that's what you want to know.

All of those games in the pictures (Mario and Luigi, Pikmin, 101, WWHD) are fully playable on the Gamepad.

I finished Pikmin and WWHD and the 101 demo pretty much on the pad.

Nintendoland has all your party needs! Plus; great use of gamepad, and the most precise 1:1 control I've ever experienced(sword and viewfinder feature)

just a random thought: I fucking love watching Youtube vids on my 40 inches

that is all

Yeah I do that a lot with my friends too, problem is the Youtube app sucks and the browser one sometimes is problematic (just like Youtube on any other platform).

not all, but the ones you have there are. for WW press (-) button to switch to gamepad mode. really nice and smooth transition.

Another nice thing is you can simply plug in the console, and not bother with HDMI cables or anything and boot it up and use your gamepad the whole time, its really nice when in a hotel or something that doesn't offer a compatible TV
