Just bought a Wii U. Surprisingly, there were no shortages.

What extra controller to buy for the Wii U?
Wii U controller pro or a Wii remote

both if possible
seriously

pro controller is so so great. best (classic) controller I ever had in my hands.
Wiimote+ for WiiU and Wii (multiplayer) goodness and the tons of wii (arcade)lightgun games(House of the dead 2+3+overkill, LA Guns+Gunblade, Target Terror, Mad Dog Mccree, Ghost Squad, Dead Space: Extraction, Western Heroes, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 etc).
You can turn your living room in freaking arcade! Do it!

Has there ever been any decent sale prices on the Wii U pro controllers? $50 is a bit too steep for something I can only see myself using a fraction of the time.

I got a white one from Best Buy for $25. I think Best Buy was going to stop selling the white ones and were clearing them out, but other stores still have them for full price. So I don't know what was going on. Gamepad stands and charging cradles were going for about $7 instead of the usual $20 too.

I know the thread title was tongue in cheek, but there actually are shortages now. Practically none of the stores in my area have the WW bundle in stock. Might have to order online in the next few days.

Amazon.com also raised the price for any Wii U bundle which is something they do when stock runs low (weird logic, I never got this - especially when they do that for music CDs lol).

NPDs will certainly look better than any prior month this year. The real question is will this trend continue for a while or fall back down to "omg Ninty goes out of business tomorrow!!!" numbers immediately?

I think that bundle might be running on limited stock- the more important barometer is the NSMB U bundle.

I didn't see any NSMBU bundles at my local target. There were 3 Zelda bundles left. They didn't move by the time my GF checked out for her ipad either. Such a shame since it was possibly ringing up at $250.

In addition to Scribblenauts Unlimited ($15), I also bought ZombiU ($8~), Rayman Legends ($25), and Pikmin 3 ($39) so far. I will buy Super Mario 3D World and Wind Waker HD before the weekend is over.

I don't have my Wii-U yet, but trying to wait for Ebay's bundle to go on sale and try to snag it for $250.

Amazon doesn't sell the Wii U themselves, those are entirely third party sellers and it hasn't been under MSRP for a new one in a while

Hoping Wii U does well this year. I can't help it. I invested in one! Knowing the risk, yeah.

But damn, that new Mario game is like nothing else out there now. Great game.

Got my deluxe Wii U, no problems so far. The Mario & Luigi set sold out in my area, so I settled for the Nintendo Land one. Still awesome. :)

Heads up to people picking up ZombiU today. I went to GS to get the $ 9.99 used deal, and apparently they have marked all new ZombiU products as used. So I managed to snag a sealed copy for $ 9.99. It's probably YMMV, but if you are going to pick it up anyways, you might as well ask and see if they have a sealed one.

I wouldn't brave walmart or any of those other stores for the world, so it's a nice deal for people that don't want to get trampled.

I ordered Metroid Prime Trilogy for $39.99 at Gamestop.com.

I never completed the first game, and never played the other two. From the first game, I know this is an amazing series. I can't wait.

So my Wii U and my TV (not sure which since I didn't get a chance to test it out) did not play nice together at 1080p via HDMI. I normally wouldn't care and just set it to 720p, but it was noticable in WWHD with all of the straight edges and zero AA in that game. So I went out on a limb and picked up some component cables and this looks so much better than when the HDMI was properly working. Colors are much more vibrant and blacks are actually black. I wonder if the limited RGB setting for HDMI has anything to do with that. Anyway thought I would share. If you need extra HDMI ports, don't be afraid to go analog with the Wii U, looks great at 1080p.

I ordered a NSMBU+Luigi bundle at walmart.ca on wednesday (at 250$). Their website showed they had them in stock when I placed my order, however I just got an e-mail telling me they are out of stock for now...

While it's kinda nice to see Wii U selling well, I really hope Wal-Mart will be able to fulfill my order, and sooner rather than later. Can't wait to get my hands on this new toy. :)

Wow, I went by Target this morning and they still had a bunch of these. They probably were told to roll the stock out over the weekend or something like that because the case was packed. They also had one PS4.

Wind Waker HD and all the popular wii u games were sold out.

Hmmm is this good or bad? They didnt sell out but looking at the wii games they did sell some i guess?

I remember when I tried to get a Wii back in 2007 I couldn't find one in stock at any store. I gave up and eventually got a PS3 instead. How times have changed...

So, just jumped on the Wii U train today with a Wind Waker console and Super Mario 3D World. Thought about buying Monster Hunter and Rayman Legends too, but I'm the worst person for not finishing games so it's probably best that I'm spreading them out.

On my shopping list at the moment I have:
- Rayman Legends
- Monster Hunter
- Nintendoland
- Earthbound

Any other titles (eshop or physical) that I should pick up for it? I mostly like RPGs and platformers, but I'll try pretty much anything. (And before ZombiU gets mentioned, I'm downloading the demo right now - horror/survival isn't normally my thing, but if there's a free demo, I'll give it a shot).

Again, don't forget pikmin 3 and w101. Those two games are stellar.

You like platformers? Get NSMBU and New Super Luigi U DLC. No question. From the eShop look up stuff like Toki Tori 2+, Runner 2 and EDGE. All quality games. I don't think there are notable RPG's yet. Keep X and Child of Light (eShop JRPG homage from Ubisoft using the same engine as Rayman Legends) on your radar.

Get Pikmin 3 too. Such a cool game. Makes me happy just thinking about it. Don't blame me if you want to make smoothies after playing it.

Pikmin 3 is GREAT. Haven't played W101 yet, but you'll get those responses nevertheless.

Man, Pikmin 3 completely slipped my mind. I loved the first two games on the Gamecube! I've downloaded the W101 demo - I've heard bad things about the demo in particular, but it'll probably give me a rough idea as to how the game works. Cheers for the recs!

NSMBU still tends to be pretty expensive around here - but I'll bear it in mind! I did consider getting the premium pack with those two, but I really wanted the Zelda gamepad.

Toki Tori looks pretty interesting, I'll definitely keep that one on the radar when I top up my wallet!

X is one of the games that I'm most looking forward to, and I'm also praying that SMT X FE doesn't become vapourware. Child of Light I've heard of, but didn't know it was coming to WiiU! Thanks for the recs.

They ran out of all the bundles at my local Targets. I still have to check Best Buy.

To everyone... please get ZombiU; the game deserves sequel.

This ^^^ and The Wonderful 101 too.

Just don't play ZombiU in the dark, alone unless you have some clean underwear handy...particularly when you get to the
Nursery
.

ZombiU was definitely the best game released last year for me personally, and I can see The Wonderful 101 being the best game released this gen. Someone is going to have to come up with something really special to beat that game for pure, unadulterated awesomeness.

Glad to see that so many people are getting the Wii U, it's certainly a great time to get one.

Just grabbed ZombiU and the Metroid Prime Trilogy at GameStop. Now to just find a Wii U somewhere for cheap. Do we still know nothing about that eBay deal?

Well, I LOVE TW101 but SM3DW beats it this year for me, honestly. Can't go wrong either way though. Fantastic games.

Pulled the trigger on the Amazon.de Wii U + Wind Waker deal.
