Now that I have a Wii U on the way (The Mario bundle), I'm trying to figure out the best controller/game combination to spend my last ~$50 on. I have two standard Wii Remotes (Non-plus) from my original Wii, and I'd really like to end up being able to play NSMBU with four players.

Should I go for the Nintendo Land/Party U bundle and grab a used standard Wii Remote for $10? Do I need more Plus remotes for those games? Which game is better? Would I be better off buying SM3DW and two standard Wii Remotes instead?

Have you considered the Wii U Pro controller? It's beyond excellent and I know it will become a source of great joy for you. I would consider that with a chunk of your $50.

Hey is there any way to turn off all that shit on your screen when you turn on the system? All the running mii and pop up messages?

I just want a list if at all possible thanks.

Pressing the - button will put the Plaza on the pad and the OS on the tv, if that helps?

I definitely have. It looks great! Unfortunately, it wouldn't work with Nintendo Land... although I'm leaning more toward just grabbing controllers at this point, and grabbing 3D World when I get the chance.

In some places, Wii Party U together with a Wiimote Plus is cheaper or at least the same price as a remote alone. It's a nice title with many different types of games.

You can also buy two plus add-ons for your remotes if you find them cheap. As for a new remote, definitely worths buying a bundle than a standalone one. Between Nintendo Land and Wii Party U I would say you should buy the one that is more expensive unbundled as in the end you probably should play both.

I think this happens when an update is downloaded for a disk game and you didn't start this game yet. Try to start the game, which the update is for.

From what I can remember doesn't the Wii U disable the energy saver function while updating? Sure that message popped up a few times when I first set it up.

I'm not sure I wasn't really paying attention, but the screen did grow darker while updating.
Well it's not a problem anymore, only 20 minutes left.

Yes, the screen will get dimmed but the console won't go in standby as long as it updates.

Super Mario 3D World, don't get me wrong NSMBU/NSLU are great, but SM3DW is in a league of its own, best Wii U game yet.

I just did this the other day and there's a message during the process notifying you that the auto-shutdown is disabled during the process.

Super Mario 3D World. If you love 2D Mario, you should still get NSMBU at some point, because it's a lot of fun too, but I think Super Mario 3D World is the best game out for it right now.

I'll probably pick up Mario 3D World, The Wonderful 101, and Pikmin 3 early next year. ZombiU will probably be my first purchase because I've seen it for less than £15 many times.

Get Super Mario 3D World. It's the best game on Wii U and probably Game of the Year material.

Just snagged a Mario/Luigi bundle off amazon.ca for $249. Got Rayman Legends for $25 on Black Friday, and picked up Zombi U and Nintendoland for $19.99 each a few weeks ago. I'd say that's a pretty decent start, once my wallet has recovered in the new year I'll pick up Mario 3D world, Wonderful 101 and Zelda Windwaker HD. Looking forward to it.....

It should arrive in a few days, but I probably won't start playing for another couple of weeks. Still got some PS4 games to get through first.

Best get the setup process and updates out of the way first though. Just some advice. Set it up with the latest everything, go back to PS4 and then come back when youre ready and avoid all the pre-play bullshit.

Some games are discounted permanently (older ones).
Pro controller is handy for MP, but has the exact same buttons/sticks/pads as the main controller. It's just smaller, some find it more comfortable because of that.

I really do hope that remains true, but I'm starting to have my doubts. I mean, we've barely seen much of anything about the game yet. Then again, it has all of next year to show us stuff if it comes out in the Fall or whatever.
