I just love my Pew Pew rifle (Sta-14). It's just so accurate the damage output is consistent. I know when my crosshair turns red and I go "Pew!" "Pew!", I will hear the chirp for sure.

Yeah, not hard to time how long it takes to empty a clip and then work out a damage per second stat. But this "study" just confirms what I already know: the shotgun is ridiculous :P It shouldn't be a one hit kill up close. Also, the assault class needs to go. What's the point of it, again? Regenerating health while boosting is just silly.

Just beat it the other night. I played the entire game on Hard, but that last level I just had to switch it to easy. I couldn't get past Radic's guards, and I died four times trying to beat him on easy.

Over all the game is amazing, but the ending was pretty anti-climactic.
 
I dont know why everyone expects it to be free but whatever. $5 bucks is a fair price if they do price it at all. $2.50 for a map is great considering other DLC content out there. For instance costumes for LBP are like $1.99 or something and Home avatar clothes range from $.49-$1.99. Something thats basically useless but to all its own I suppose.

Also was playing on Elite and just finished the train level. All I got to say is that you can tell how retarded the buddy AI is. And the Magnum is useless in Elite. It takes like 4 shots to take a baddy down..wtf. Seriously like thats BS. If it wasnt for those 2 things, the tank you have to destroy wouldn't have been that bad.
 
Those damage charts back up my irritation on boost and assault with some hard facts... Really, it's just bafflingly stupid game design. The MP would be much more enjoyable if the assault class was replaced by a heavy defense class, with the following changes:

Replace boost ability with "Regen", which will increase hp regeneration (for a longer time span than boost) but decrease speed = a class for defense roles
Enable LMG:s and shotgun
150% HP instead of 200%

Seems fair, right?

Kinda wish each map had one special strategic objectives now that I think about it, that would be cool, each maps Warzone would be slightly different. I.e,

Radec - Free the hostages from the two holding cells in the tunnels (or read a book in the library?)

Pyrus - detonate the three bridges

Crossing - escort a certain team member or two across the bridge

Apparently Sony says it won't be free.

The website that originally reported on the upcoming Killzone 2 map pack being a free download, has corrected its story. The news item now says Sony Computer Entertainment contacted Tweakers.net, stating the DLC will in fact NOT be free, but will cost a still unknown amount of money. This one IS confirmed by Sony, so alas, no free dlc for Killzone 2.

The last thing you want to give assault is health regen when they already have more health. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to gimp the assault class though because that would render it kind of useless. Assault with just a M4 is already pretty deadly even without boost.

From a logical perspective, I think boost should reduce health..fine, they can be tanks when they move at normal speed, but when they pick up a speaker and want to run with it, give us a chance of killing them...make using boost tactical and not just "upon recharge".

....I need to get the M4.... >_<

Ha, yeah, I agree with this 100%. I swear my kd ratio would be 4:1 if it wasn't for shotguns (and, to a lesser extent, rockets... lesser bc I prefer to play on servers where there are no rockets). What's annoying is that it takes no skill to get one lucky shot off. It's always someone with a score of 14-24 who randomly shoots and headshots me from 20 meters away with the shotty. Drives me insane!

Yeah, it really is godly. It just FEELS good when you hit someone square in the chest with it. My only issue with it is how superior it is to the other handgun. They need to be brought closer in ability.
 
As I see it, there are two situations where Assault is incredibly hard to deal with:
1. During Search & Retrieve, where greater speed and greater health means they can just run for the delivery without tactics.
2. During close-quarters indoor play, where their explosive weapons and high health let them take on whole enemy squads successfully.

The second problem can be corrected by turning on friendly fire, or turning off the weapons. But I don't find that ideal, and I think giving Assault LMGs as default instead would be better. That way only the Rifleman could use rocket/grenade launchers, which would encourage use of that class again (which can't use secondaries, so using a launcher would have that disadvantage to counter its power).

As for the first problem, my suggestion would be to make it so Assault can only walk during normal play; Boost would then take them up to a regular running speed. For other classes, a Boost secondary would have the same effect it does now. So in S&R you'd have a choice of greater health or greater speed, but not both.

i dunno.. the m4 isn't capable of popping 3 consecutive headshots within a matter of a second or two.

Yes boost does give health regen to any class, it does make assault so much more powerful since they already have more health.

I'd love to see you pop off 3 consecutive headshots in a second or two. Sure, it's theoretically possible, but in my 120 hours online, I've yet to come across a single person who can do that. Or even get headshots consistently at all with the handgun. IMO the analog sticks just aren't sensitive enough to offer that kind of control. At least I know *I* haven't been able to reach that level of aiming proficiency with the sticks. It's just so much easier to put a shot or 2 into your chest with the M4.

Yeah, I've never had a second of difficulty finding a game. Now, getting into the types of games I want... that can be a problem. I prefer the long games nowadays, but they are always full. Perhaps with more people, more games to join!

Remove the double health from the assault class, enable FF, problem solved. I don't really like the boost, either, because of the lag factor - I've said it "felt like cheating". But boosting is so useful for getting around big maps like PR, especially when game modes change and you have to rush back to defend.
 
Finally started playing online yesterday, 12 kills, 11 deaths in Corinth River 2 games that I joined halfway in, I'm rusty as shit and I gotta get used to the controls again as they greatly differ from SP. I'll try to keep my K/D above 1 but it'll be hard since my online average on most shooters is .7 or so, I don't think I can go for 1% this week.

well, the 1% trophy has nothing to do with your K/D rate. It's purely based on the points you gained throughout the week. So just play a lot and you will get the 1%.
 
I would recommend doing pistols matches first to unlock the M4 so you're not totally nerfed until you unlock the badge abilities.
