What pisses me off is that people complain only about Sony's exclusives but somehow Nintendo never gets the same type of questioning. Exclusives give soul to platforms and enable devs to focus 100% on one single hardware platform to push it to the limit. I like that.

Exactly, it’s simply more efficient to tailor and optimise a game for a single piece of hardware.

A cross-gen game or one that’s made with countless potential PC configurations in mind can never live up to its potential.

Nintendo are the precursor of gaming mascots, seal of quality and these things made their brand. Would all of this hold the same value if it was for sale?

It's not over. Nintendo and Sony are currently on top. XBox is in the shitter, and Valve is trying to make a new Steambox. Nintendo is fully exclusive and I have a feeling Sony is going to pull back on their single player game PC ports, so we are in a healthy place.
