I love this show to bits already, just a really great balance of cheese, action and drama.
A question: two of the main actors are Australians playing Americans, are they giving as flawless American accents as it sounds like they are?

It's funny, because I recognized the Navy Seal guy as an Australian actor because I've seen him on some Australian show recently, but I think his accent is passable. His girlfriend on the show, the bartender, is also Australian right?

I think that ABC is contractually obligated to air all 13. I remember reading that somewhere, but I'm not certain if it's true. There's also a chance that they order two more episodes, that I assume would be written as the final two of the series, if they like the scripts that they ordered yesterday.

Catching up now. 3rd episode was a huge step up. Still, there's something very bland about the way it's shot. I was contrasting Last Resort with Hunted on Cinemax and there was such a clear difference (though, that's probably an artistic choice for both).
I hope this show lives.

Each episode my interest is fading, though it is still better than Revolution imo (which i'm still watching also).
Hopefully they take more political angle with the new script ideas... As I tend to be more interested in what is happening in the USA then what is happening on the island.

This is kind of the real letdown of the show. Something horrible happens (

I'd expect massive economic concern, the reinstatement of the draft; hell, the US even owned up to the strike so I'm pretty sure there would be wall-to-wall Pakistan coverage on all networks and nowhere near the scrutiny on the families of an AWOL submarine.
With the benefit of hindsight, I'd be more interested in just focusing the show on the island, but luckily I think that part of the show is pretty strong already.
And if the media coverage of the sub is so intense, I'm surprised the Captain wouldn't have sent another "care package" recording to the news networks. I'm sure the Secretary's kill order would have gone down well with the american public.

Such an awesome episode. Loved the 2nd's wife revealing she knows the lawyer is a slimy SOB. Loved watching the Admiral's daughter excel at her first command and everyone salute at the end including cobbs yaaay.

What makes absolutely no sense is that no one bothered to bring up the whole battery thing until it actually failed. Maybe the civilians just want them out of there, but what a derp.

Abhorrent for sure, but despite not really being fully characterized there was something in his role on the "negotiation" that made the episode really interesting. (Dunno why the hell I confused him with Kyle Secor; I guess Braugher's shows are burned into my head.)
Loved every minute of this episode, and yeah, I guess I expect less out of next week, but about my only real wish right now would be for the show to really start compromising the heroes since that's what The Shield did so well: make you feel bad about good guys making impossible decisions (and case by case changing along the way)

That was the best episode since the pilot. Each story line in this ep hit it's mark. And i'm finally on board with Mrs. Kendal, who up to this point I found annoying. I hated where her story line with Paul was going but the writers played it right. The moment he was telling her about her husband and and Chaplin selling the sub to China, I was saying "come on you better see him for the spy he is" and sure enough she did, awesome. Loved Grace's role in this one and earning T-1000's respect, and the whole negotiation with the White House scenes on the beach were all fantastic. After an excellent pilot this was going downhill for (not nearly as fast downhill as revolution has been going), but this gives me hope that some how it will last for the season.

Me too. It was super obvious that Paul was trying to turn her against Sam; she would have been an idiot to not have seen it. Thank goodness the writers are smarter than to take the obvious route with her storyline. I'm also really happy that Christine has teamed up with Kylie. The fewer individual characters we have to follow the better. Now they just need to integrate
"That girl is an accessory to her own handbag."
This line amused me a little too much. I don't know why.

If you want to nitpick, Pakistan would have nuked India by now.......unless India is no longer a US ally

I seriously thought this show would be bigger among BSG fans, with all the lingo and such.
Its hard to say what game the network is playing. they did order 3 more episodes even with the ratings. Either contracts have a specific episode count or they are trying to long game it

They ordered 2 more scripts, but they didn't order any new episodes. If they like the scripts they might decide to order more episodes, but a script order doesn't always equate to an episode order.

In the last episode, why didn't the Colorado / Grace decide to use the Perseus prototype so that they wouldn't be detected by the Illinois and the other submarines that was about to attack them?

Seemed to do some electrical damage to the ship last time out. Not clear if they can keep using it without some repairs, nor is it clear how long it can be used. They could have explained why they didn't use it though.

They should have explained it. They didn't seem to have much problems/damage after the last time they used it.
I'm pretty sure the last time they used it they said it ended up blowing out a ton of systems that they cant reuse it or basically lose the boat

Fantastic episode this week. So many intense scenes and moments, it showed off the potential it has to be a genuinely great drama going forward. Now please please don't get cancelled.
Barring a miraculous ratings recovery, it's going to get cancelled. The hope is that they'll be able to come up with a satisfying ending for it.
