List of PS5 Pro enhanced games

I wonder wtf are these devs doing nowadays. Monster hunter looks absolute ass on base PS5 and performs badly and look at the new DA. SOmeone said it drops as low as 500p on performance mode??? Holy shit Pro cant come soon enough, but i blame the devs here. PS5 isnt THIS bad

Seriously, what the fuck - and here I thought that Alan Wake 2 and Wukong had the worst image quality on PS5...

It's 100% Capcom's choice of using the shitty RE Engine for open world games and the fact that they aren't good at optimizing their games.

I think some perspective is in order here:

Base PS5
Quality Mode: DRS 1620p with lows of 1296p
Performance Mode: Dynamic 1152p with lowed 684p

PS5 Pro
Quality Mode: Dynamic 1620p -> native 2160p (+33% pixel increase)
Performance Mode: Dynamic 1152p -> 1620p dynamic (~+40% pixels)

So what we have here is Pro Performance mode roughly matching the fidelity mode's resolution and settings but at 60fps. Sounds familiar?
Little more added context from the press release:
The enhanced “Performance Mode” runs at 4K resolution upscaled from 1440p. It will run at a smooth 60 frames per second, sharper distant details, and refined textures. The “Quality Mode” will run at native 4K resolution, and 30 FPS. Specifics on how the picture is improved are not disclosed, but the press release states it showcases “intricate visuals across the dual realms of Axiom and Umbral at a stable 30 FPS.”

It's a disgrace really.

Some of these game shouldn't be running and looking this bad on a base ps5.

Square enix is a another publisher who sucks ass at optimisation.

I feel dirty for having to get a pro to possibly improve performance.

Dynamic under load. Maybe worst possible scene with FSR2. Still, it is pretty soft overall image from some review videos, but not this bad. I guess Alex kinda helping the pro case here with this comparison image.

Baulders Gate 3 is a big one! Still many missing though. Here's a list of current gen game releases not slated for a Pro update as of yet according to their PSN page. Don't crucify me if some of these got announced in the last couple days and havn't yet reflected that on their official store page....thank you.

Cyberpunk, Silent Hill 2, FF16, Dying Light 2, Elden Ring, Black Myth Wukong, Far Cry 6, Space Marine 2, Tekken 8, SF6, MK1, WRC (f'ing screen tearing), Banishers, Black Ops 6, Strangers of Paradise, Wu Long Fallen Dynasty, Warhammer Rogue Trader, Ghost of Tsushima, AstroBot, Control Ultimate, Armored Core 6, AC Mirage, Robocop, Immortals of Aveum, RE2 +3 remake, Sackboy, Life is Strange Double Exposure, Brothers Remake, Death Stranding Dir. Cut, GTA5, Scarlet Nexus, Greedfall, Metaphor, Path of Exile 2, AC Valhalla, Dead Space Remake, Metro Exodus, Avatar, Uncharted 4 Remaster, Alone in the Dark Remake, Pacific Drive, Evil West, Sonic Frontiers, FF7 Remake p1, Granbury Fantasy Relink, Returnal, Guardians of the Galaxy, Battlefield 2042, Ghostwire Tokyo, NFS Unbound, Tiny Tina's Wonderland, Gotham Knights, GhostRunner 2, Watch Dogs Legion, Lost Judgement, Destiny 2, The Witcher 3, Dark Pictures Anthology, Deathloop, Wreckfest, Genshin Impact, Plague Tale Requiem, The Quarry, Elex 2, Outer Wilds, Modern Warfare 2+3, Ride 4/5, Fallout 4 next generation ver, Tales of Arise, Suicide Squad, Doom Eternal, Visions of Mana, Topspin 2k25, Devil May Cry V, Kena, Warhammer Inquisitor Martyr, Dirt 5, Y's Nordics, Remnant 2, Nioh 2, Forspoken, Fist:Forged in Shadow Torch, Hitman 3, Trepang 2, Redout 2, Aliens Fireteam Elite, Assetto Corsa, Grid Legends, The Ascent, Star Ocean the Divine Force, Like a Dragon/LaD Ishin/LaD Gaiden, Godfall, Phoenix Point, Outward, Hot Wheels 1+2, Sable, Wanted:Dead, Pathfinder:wotr, Sifu, Monster Hunter Rise, Midnight Suns, Cod Vanguard.

Obviously a lot of these were never going to get touched since Publishers probably deem them to be "not worth it" but I don't think it's unreasonable to want updates for most of these games from the perspective of people looking to purchase the PS5 Pro. Certainly, both Playstation exclusives and games that released in the last couple years with performance issues deserve to be patched, even if they're not "super popular" titles. For example games like Warhammer Rogue Trader or Metaphor Refantazio just released with performance issues. Games like Evil West that only run 1080p/60 should be patched too. For Sony I think it would be crazy if a game like Returnal, Uncharted 4, Astrobot or Death Stranding never gets patched. Finally, games that are popular and could greatly benefit from a Pro patch like Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth, and Silent Hill 2 have no good reason not to have a patch.

Just saying there is a lot of room for improvement here ...I'm getting a PS5 Pro but only because I'm so invested with my console library and I can't afford a $3000 PC, nor do I want to have to go PC and have to rebuild my library. Keep up the pressure on these companies and we're more likely to get action on their part.

Gents, I'm getting a Pro but I really don't like how things are going for the base consoles.
We thought we had it good for the first couple of years (and that was due to 99% of the games being cross-gen) but as soon as the 1st heavy hitters/current gen games started to come out (starting with FF16)...well things took a nose dive quickly.
Alan wake 2 is a shit-show due the terrible IQ, FF16 had both terrible IQ AND framerate, Wukong has FSR up the ass with some of the grainiest IQs out there, Space marine 2 runs like total ass and let's not forget titles like that...Avenum or whatever the fuck 1st person fantasy game, Forspoken, Dragon's Dogma 2 with its awful performance etc etc and now...MH wilds with the worst IQ I've ever seen in a current gen vidjya - I'm literally shocked by the pic that Luipadre posted, like, holy fuck...

Back to the Pro : I'd HATE for it to be the "performance patch" for shitty running games, I mean, do I really need a Pro as to have SM2 not shit its pants whenever there's more than 20 enemies on screen ? What the fuck, where's the optimization? where's the patch for the base console fookin' Sabre interactive ?
Seriously, it's inexcusable in the year of our lord 2024 to have games performing like this...

Now, it's either A) these consoles have already reached their peak performance/what they can do, or, B) Devs stopped giving a fuck since there's a new, more powerful toy incoming which will be the "fix" for their shitty running games.

As for Capcom, it boggles the mind how one of the most technical competent companies out there can't wrap their heads around the fact that their RE engine is fucking awful for open world games, shit just doesn't work, so now, MH aficionados will have to splurge 800 big ones as to have the game not run and look like absolute shite ? Fuxking lol my guys - and let's be honest, the Pro ain't properly fixing that shit either, remember MH world ? Yeah, while it obviously ran better than the base PS4 it still couldn't run at 60fps or have a clean IQ.

This gen man...I don't know, compared to the PS4XONE gen has been absolutely disappointing from a technical standpoint - people can bitch and moan about those Jaguar CPUs of yore but, we at least had games like Uncharted 4, TLOU2, Quantum Break, The order 1887 ffs - games which ran well then and still look now.

Which is why the whole phase of whining about cross-gen here was so bizzare to me. People really had no idea what they were in for. Careful what you wish for, I guess.

Moving your post here as well Lunatic_Gamer Lunatic_Gamer , good find

PS5-Pro.jpg

In a recent interview with GamingBolt, the series’ franchise director Tymon Smektała said, “We’re just starting to discover the full capabilities of PS5 Pro, but it’s already exciting as it gives us a lot more flexibility with graphics and performance. The boost in GPU will allow us to push visual fidelity, especially with complex environmental details like weather effects, which are very core toDying Light: The Beast’s experience.”

However, he feels that PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) could be “even more important” in the long run. The proprietary AI upscaling solution is a major factor in hitting 4K (and, in some cases, 8K) resolution for titles at 60 frames per second.

Simply Sony doesn't give a fuck about Digital Foundry...

They're not on their list. They had a chance to get back on before the Pro but they tried shitting on it before the 180 when they realized it would be popular and they could leverage it for engagement and clicks.

But then why are they getting the ability to capture footage of these games and get provided some footage from Sony? If they didn't care DF wouldn't have anything to cover.

I don't know. Maybe things are changing but they mentioned recently about not getting a review unit in one of their videos. Unless they meant not getting one yet. They did have issues with the around launch of the PS5.

Absolutely not. The community is pretty great. I have over put in over 200 hours, the vast majority with randoms. I’ve ran into 2 toxic players. I think most of the assholes have moved on.

Hell no. Join us and fight for managed democracy.

The First Descendant PS5 Pro Patch just dropped with details:

PS5 Pro Enhanced Update

- The PS5 Pro Enhanced function has been updated. PS5 Pro users can enjoy an improved gameplay experience after the update. The improvements are as follows:

Graphic Mode Quality Improvements

- There has been an improvement in overall resolutions in each mode and through PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution(PSSR).

Improved Ray-Tracing Options Provided

- Ray-tracing function’s resolution has been improved compared to PS5.

- In PS5 Pro, Ray-Tracing is available even in the Performance priority mode. Activated Ray-Tracing functions for each mode are:

ㄴ Resolution/Balance priority: Ray-traced shadow, Ray-traced reflection on translucency surface, Ray-traced reflection on opaque surface, Ray-traced AO, Ray-traced radiance cache

ㄴ Performance priority: Ray-traced reflection on translucency surface, Ray-traced AO, Ray-traced radiance cache

AMD Frame Generation Resolution Improvement

- Through applying Frame Generation based on PSSR, we now provide better resolution.

Major update to ray tracing has been applied to the Pro version and it seems like they got Frame Gen to work alongside PSSR, too. Can't wait to see how this plays now.

This game will be interesting to test out primarily because of UE5 plus PSSR and frame gen too.

Edit. So it seem kinda interesting that you can turn off RT modes. Good, I rather prefer high res with better image stability over these RT features.

I could be mistaken but on a df video I think it’s just 30 and 45 fps right now on ps5. Which was weird especially since the current ps5 doesn’t even go to 45 fps for vrr which is capped at 48. The pro sounds will go down to 40 so that should help some. We are under a couple weeks out from the pro release and we have seen the amount of supported games almost double so far since the initial announcement. I do expect that as big as the game is now that it will get a patch eventually in some form.
Hey, do you have a link or can you tell me where you found out the pro will have VRR range starting at 40fps instead of 48fps?

Really hope the following:

Astrobot
Spacemarine 2
Silent Hill 2
Wukong
BG3
Helldivers 2
Returnal

Make it onto the list 🙏

Seems like companies would be throwing away money if they ignored a Pro patch. I mean, how hard can it be to implement something like that.

I thought Metaphor already had a Pro mode, considering it just released.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as long is the game is unlocked (frame rate, resolution, etc) the PSSR ML can do its thing automatically?

No, that would be wrong.

If a game has a dynamic resolution and/or an unstable frame rate, then the extra power of the PS5 Pro will allow the resolution and/or unstable frame rate to reach their maximum more often or all the time.

It would not require any additional work from the studio.

Implementing PSSR ML to a game would require additional work from the studio.
