What is the recommended setting for Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster? My game defaulted on Performance Pro.....I thought I'm not supposed to choose anymore. CERNY!!!!

I got a shitty LG CX 65” and its giving me bad result so maybe you are right

Huh, a cx and new c4 aren’t going to give you much different results. The tech is all pretty similar and game modes limit post processing.

It defaulted to performance pro….

I've tried many games quickly just to test things out.

My first impression among the games I own is that the standout titles where the results are transformative are FF7R, the Naughty Dog games, Spiderman 2 with the new advanced ray tracing stuff, Horizon Forbidden West looks out of this world 🔥 Stellar Blade and Star Wars Jedi Survivor also are really impressive.
The results obtained in these games are beyond what I expected.
I've also tried briefly RE4 and RE Village and they are super smooth and crisp with ray tracing activated.

Other stuff has not particularly impressed me, Alan Wake 2 in performance mode does not look really improved, Rise of the Ronin looks just a bit sharper, I've also not seen transformative things in Harry Potter.
Silent Hill 2 actually seems to be currently broken?!

So the technology is there and it can yield fantastic results but developers have to put some actual effort. Tomorrow I'll test more games including old unpatched stuff. I also hope the GT7 patch is released asap.

Might be some driver issue that can be resolved by a firmware update. Hopefully Sony knows about this. PSSR also has issues with fooliage in a lot of games, that also needs improvement, but it might be another fw issue
I notice it in Dragon age and Star war survivor to a lesser extend. I think it has to do with low internal resolution and 2d grass. maybe at lower internal res, PSSR doesn't know how to handle it.

Maybe RTAO is the issue here too, both these game have RTAO and appears to exibit these issue. Kinda interesting.

Can you check the Dragon age fidelity mode if you have this issue?

An older game. But Far Cry 6 now has no stutters or screen tearing. Looks a bit crisper too due to DRS.

Far Cry 5 now looks sharper using the PS4 image enhancer option.

GOW:R is seriously impressive. I have my PS5 base still hooked up before I sell and switching between the two is night and day. PSSR looks much cleaner than the base quality mode and it's running butter at 60fps. Turning on HFR mode gets it between 90-100fps with PSSR enabled.

Goddamnit, I wanted to wait a couple of months, now I have to get one asap.

Haven't had time to play my Pro today really but I tested Rebirth and Horizon ZD and man they were crisp as fuck and solid 60fps.

I'm waiting on the SH2 patch going to play that first then maybe tlou2 not played that since it released.

I'm really looking forward to seeing upcoming first party titles next year!!!.

Resident Evil 4 Remake :
Hair strands are disabled when playing the mercenaries mode, apparently, option can only be used in story mode.

Also : after all these years, I still don't know whether I should have the "VRR enabled for unsupported games" option turned, I remember making some games with frame drops even more stuttery with it on (like in AW2) but, I still can't understand how we're supposed to know which games support it 🤔

God of War Ragnarok is fucking stunning man, PSSR adds so much to the IQ, I never expected that to be the game that impressed me the most on PS5 Pro launch day.
See my comments a few post back. I think it is one of the best implementation of PSSR on the pro. Best example is those wolf at the beginning. The fur is so define.

Alot of people are sleeping on this. Wait till DF comparison.

I think RTAO might be the culprit overall. It does not interact well with PSSR at the moment.

On Jedi-survivor and Dragon age, look like it turn on and off which is cause all these shimmering and flickering issue on the 2d grass. On Dragon Dogma, there is also this issue that Oliver shows in the pro review.

It looks the same, performance mode is slightly lower res just like before.
Maybe it have improved frame rate but I don't the stuff to measure that.
Marvels Spider-Man is now playable in high frame rate now, looked like a, doesn't have that blurry soap opera look now

I can't really comment on Alan Wake 2 because this is my first time playing it so, if it looks better let me know

Assassin's Creed Mirage looks more detailed then I remember..

did the original GOW get a fix or does it look better on PS5 Pro? Thinking of getting that since I haven't played it yet

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Thanks. Darn I kinda thought it will improve at least the resolution on performance mode or add fps on quality mode
To be fair that seems to be the most you get out of Pro Patched games so as it's not patched it's expected.

Hell-A just got a whole lot sharper! Dead Island 2 will be fullyoptimized for the PlayStation 5 Pro, and we’re taking things to the nextlevel with some epic upgrades thanks to the latest SDK 9 update. If youthought the zombie-slaying chaos looked good before, you’re in for a serioustreat. ️

Here’s what’s new and upgraded:

Kind of worth noting for some, Bloodborne upgrade isn't limited to the slightly better image, for some bizarre reason its framepacing issues are 99% solved when playing on Pro.

It's still 30fps obviously, but it looks to be now proper 30fps vast majority of the time.

Edit:

Not the case unfortunately, just another instance of incorrect informations sourced from that channel:

Look at the fog on the distance, kind looks different on the Pro? Not sure if broken but definitely changes.

Good news for Space.Marine 2 :
Framerate is better but it's still not a solid 60 during hectic moments.
Still, I'll take every improvement (even without a Pro patch yet) over the shit-tastic performance on base PS5, game feels good now instead of playing in slow-mo !

Also : maybe it's me but...the console menus/UI seem and look more laggy ? Has anyone noticed that ?

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Last question! Will I know if a game has PSSR enabled? It is a toggle in settings somewhere?

There will be a Pro setting if it was patched in that will have a description. I'm not sure if they all have detailed in game but stellar blade does. Otherwise, there's no way to know with games that aren't patched for Pro. From my understanding, the effect is there but the extent varies from game to game. So basically it's an eye test but no detailed explanation.

Yoshichan Yoshichan tgis is what it says on the Pro setting in SB:

Pro: Enhanced Balanced Mode, optimized for the PlayStation 5 Pro console. This mode utilizes PSSR for superior quality.

That's what I'm running now and it's wild how nice it looks.
My tv doesn't have a frame counter, just shows that it's getting 120. Curious to see how consistent it is but I didn't notice anything major when things get intense. Looks and plays incredibly well

It's based on the game, some have a "pro" mode, where you know it's actually enabling PSSR (DD2 for example). Other games have removed graphics options altogether and you're forced into a default "pro" mode but it doesn't actually say you are, such as The Crew: Motorfest.

Played for about 2 hours today. So far I played around with Spider-Man 2 and Rebirth and will dive into other titles tomorrow.

This to me feels like a future proofing machine that will do better in the second half of the generation. I tell people to look at the list of enhanced games and see if there are any that they haven't completed or started yet. Because I have stopped playing a number of the major titles, it was an easy decision to get the Pro day 1 and eventually complete these games. It was very much an easier buy for me in that regard.

However, if you are someone that has beaten the AAA titles already or whatever is on the enhanced list, I would say hold off on buying until newer games come out that take advantage of the hardware. I'm sure that would be a given for most.

Some games have a major effect, and others not so much. So again, it depends on what you have played and if you have money to burn and want to burn it now or later.

Booted Stellar Blade, honestly I can't tell the IQ difference between Pro and Pro Max sitting 1.5 meters away from an 83 inch C2. Both look fantastic but then unlocking framerate is another huge leap, I'm hearing performance is it's in mid 80s fps on average. What's weird is unlocked fps makes the image look a tiny bit blurrier (way more visible in the menu than actual gameplay) or am I going crazy?

That's crazy. I really would love to understand how the glitch happens in the first place. I thank you very much man, you might have sold me on the pro (who am I kidding, hype is thru the roof already), but having Witcher 3 again would be amazing for me.

And you're right, when you start the game on regular PS5, it can start to glitch out in minutes, even if you get lucky and it doesn't happen for a little while. Pro is quite amazing eh, fixing CDPRs clunkiness

I'll test some more during the weekend and will keep you updated but from my early testing yesterday, it looks like it's fixed. To be confirmed. 👍

I left the Pro’s Settings at Game Default for the graphics mode but my game was set to Balanced Pro, likely because I had been using Balanced on my PS5 prior. In my opinion, this is the best mode if you have VRR because it seems to be an unlocked version of the 120 Hz / 40 fps mode and honestly felt like it was 60 fps, definitely smoother than the same mode on PS5 which I believe may have been locked at 40 fps.

I was distracted by foliage pop in on the Performance mode which is why I switched modes in the first place. Balanced for me is more the Fidelity with smooth 60 fps gameplay mode I was hoping for on Pro.

Hogwarts is a big improvement for Performance mode. Fidelity mode maybe not so much, but 60 fps mode looks razor sharp now. It's a great Pro port.

Spiderman 2 is fantastic on the Pro Perf mode. 60+ FPS and PSSR with a lot of RT goodies makes this stand out as well.

I just went through Spiderman 1 on my 7900xt PC and FSR and yeah… PSSR is no joke.

Yep Spider-Man 2 looks incredible. I always played at 30 fps because the fidelity looked a lot sharper.

60 fps mode now looks even better than 30 fps mode did! Awesome stuff that PSSR is able to accomplish. It is a massive game changer
