Silly question, but does Witcher 3 in RT mode go uncapped and the Pro boosts it? I have no eyes for any of this stuff. Thanks in advance.

Honestly, the Pro is what I thought the PS5 would have been lol.
Very much agree. I have a 3090ti/ 13900k build that I haven’t put a new SSD in yet and this guy may just make it take a little longer. I have just always enjoyed to ease of the console I guess and I cannot tell much picture wish that well these days.

Can I live without a PSSR patch. 😵‍💫

Just a heads up: the 1st level isn't good to perform a stress test since it runs mostly fine even on base PS5, the real shitty performance starts after the 2nd level where the game drops below 40fps and that's where the comparison with the Pro should have been made ffs...

Anyway, the operations online mode is also a good stress test method and I'm happy to confirm that it does run better compared to base PS5

This is being handled very badly. They shouldn't add the tag if the patch is not yet released, or do something to make it clear when it's not ready.
This.

Also : gents, I'm kind of disappointed with this console so far, the UI menus are more laggy compared to base PS5 and the non Pro patched games don't see much of an improvement either (or, in the case of games like silent Hill 2 Remake that actually looks worse) basically, we're - again - at the mercy of the devs for when and IF they'll release a Pro patch...

Yes, heavier incoming games WILL take advantage of the hardware but, for the time being, everything feels very disappointing to me, almost like the console was rushed to the market...

Definitely not rushed. We have heard Pro rumors since PS5 got released.

Boost Mode doesn't appear to be very well optimized. Most games without a Pro patch are not seeing big improvements. I bet if they decide to add a Pro patch it will perform much better and will be able to fully utilize the new hardware.

This could be very well cpu and limited scenes. So the fps kinda inline with the pro cpu advantage.

There is nothing the devs can do about it if there is cpu limited in certain scenes. Maybe the pro native code will help further. But most likely In this case, the game could look much better with upping the base resolutions then upscale to 4k with PSSR.

I know man, what I meant though is that it feels like it was rushed...
From the terrible and el-cheapo packaging, to the slower menus, to the - not only not transformative - but actually very small gains in non Pro patched games (or, none at all), to the samey menus the console uses (there's no "Pro" mention anywhere, not even icons), the small, cherry-picked list of games that actual support the Pro, to the fact that many of these said games HAVEN'T received a patch even though they're on that list (disinformation/incompetency on Sony's part) and...this, at the moment, doesn't feel like a 800 Eurodollar "premium" product/console...

People may continue to shit on the PS4 Pro but heck, I hadn't played as many 60fps games on the PS4 until the Pro came out - being able to play Shadow of the Colossus at 60 FPS with those graphics was just... chef's kiss, so no, the Pro back then wasn't only about CBR.
Compare it to the 5 Pro where we had "performance"/60fps modes from the beginning and the difference/jump in quality doesn't feel as big.

That's my personal opinion at least.

Cheers

Games I've tried.

Horizon Remaster - Wow
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart - Really good
Siperman 2 - Really good
Gran Turismo 7 - Not patched, but I checked the FPS and it was around 120 in replays and 90+ in gameplay (hood view).
Star Wars Outlaws - IQ is not very good IMO, but it runs smooth.

Not worse. Performance is surely better. Better image quality and much more stable performance. Almost no stutters.

It’s just that the quality mode is probably now running at native 4K or something and is probably running at below 40. It fluctuates so much. You can limit to 30. My hope was that wouldn’t touch the quality mode and just have the GPU deal with the overhead. But no. They increased the resolution so much that the frame rate is back to crap levels.
Exact situation with Elden Rings performance mode

Insomniac games have the worse PRO patches. IQ actually looks worse. Too soft. Again, i hope they add a sharpness filter. The best PRO patches by a mile are Stellar Blade and Horizon FW. They look incredible. What’s even more impressive is that Horizon is not using PSSR and it has the best IQ of any game on ps5. TLOU2 PSSR looks bad IMO. Once you start moving you can see the artifacts everywhere. At least they left the previous modes to select and now the native 4k plays amazing at 60 fps. So far i am satisfied with the console. Hoping for better implementation from 1st party games moving forward.
I did notice that the buildings in Spider-Man seemed to shimmer when panning the camera slowly.

Also, the puddles have noticeable shimmer.

No visible improvement in Space Marine 2 unfortunately. I only checked at the base, maybe during the mission pro lessens dynamic res drops in perf but I’m not touching this game again till they release a real patch. Same goes for the monkey

Bart, I'll have to disagree brother, there IS visible improvement - I've been playing the operations mode to death (which features some of the most taxing scenarios) and the game doesn't shit itself whenever there's more than 30 enemies on screen like it used to.
No, it's not a perfect 60 fps but it's WAY better than it used to be on the base console (I would say that it averages at the 50+ FPS mark).

I said this last month before any confirmation of anything :

What they should have done though is done it for an upcoming big game. I suspect they actually planned this with Activision considering their complaints during trial but things changed due to the acquisition. Now it seems CoD has Pro enhancements but they're kept under wraps and Activision aren't allowed to advertise it openly.

There is some "slimy platform things" going on with that game. They want to be able to defend against any allegations that the acquisition prevented anything from occurring in terms of development but they're also not going to be showing and marketing the fact that the game runs better on Playstation either.

Right now, BLOPs 6 on ps5 pro looks pretty weak, I was surprised after booting up and playing a round
