Pendleton: 'I'm sorry for all the people who've come here who we've disappointed ... I'm really sorry.'

I think it's unfair how suspicious quite a majority of people call foul if China dominate anything even if you can't really dope to win said thing

It's suspicious when a country that has literally no history of success in a sport comes out and starts breaking world records. It takes a lot more then doing some extra squats to win at an Olympic level. It takes strength, skill, training, technique, and coaching. That's why most sports are dominated by certain countries for long stretches of time, because the coaching and training are already in place.

You don't have to be a 400m runner to be put in 4 x 400 relay, if they want Blake and Bolt in it they will add them.

Yes but both Bolt and Blake train to be the bees knees at the 100m sprint. They are not highly trained to be 400m runners. Sure they are capable ... but there are better Americans at the 400m than either of them.

Well, that was the first Roger Federer match I've ever watched. (Not a big tennis fan.)

Great win by him, kept his cool the entire time and made some great touch and witty plays.

Lucky match point but whatev.

His post-match interview was great, very open and humble. I am a fan.

I would've liked to have seen Federer lose, but ah well! He played well.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I've always just found him to be a bit full of himself.

China will always dominate in the skill based sports, such as table tennis, badminton, diving, gymnastic, etc. Swimming is getting more skill based thats why the Chinese are catching up. China still can't compete at the strength based sports.

If you can't see it yourself, just watch for 2 more Olympics.

am I the only one who thinks Beach Volleyball is boring to watch?!

Indoor Volleyball is so much more fun and strategic IMO.

Well, I prefer regular volleyball because you actually get more interesting plays and long volleys. Beach volleyball is much harder though, simply because there are less players on the court and it is difficult (as well as taxing) to run on sand. As a result, you tend not to see a lot of more fancy plays and setups, so points are won/loss really quick.

Bigger population means bigger chances in the big genepool lottery. I see no problem with this.

Yes, I'm sure US and China's hyper competitive cultures and sizable resources have little to do with it. They win medals because they push out more freaks of nature, despite there being a plethora of technical based and team oriented sports at the Games.

It sucks if you train for one for 4 years and then someone else fucks it up.
I have no idea what happened in the Cycling.

The rules and regulations - when it comes to the appeals process - toward each Olympic sport seems really inconsistent.

You are completely missing the point.

Just because you are a fast sprinter does not mean you can run the 400m well. It is considered one of the most grueling events in all of Olympic competition because your respiratory and cardiovascular system is not capable of replenishing Oxygen to your muscles as fast as they are using it. It is an anaerobic sprint and therefore very different than running the 100m or 200m.

Most 400m runners are specialists and sprinters who train for 100m or 200m will not be able to compete the nearly as well as you seem to believe.

They're different because each sport is governed by their own governing body. In Cycling there is no appeals process. The commissar (referee's) decision is final.

Pendleton overtook before she was allowed to. Rules are rules. It's heartbreaking all the same.
