Doubt it after today, but I wouldn't mind. She's got more personality that Lochte and Phelps combined.
She'll only be 25 for Tokyo/Istanbul/Madrid and can probably at least compete elitely in the 100s and 50 in 2024 when she is 29 (see Lezak in 08). I think it's very easy to see lots of the endorsements Phelps got transitioning to her in a few months. She'll face extra hurdles though in that the US women haven't been as competitive as the men in relays and sprinting events are harder to dominate consistently.

Anybody see Mustafina give her coach the hand with a sarcastic look when he tried to hug her earlier? Her coach: "She used to be a little devil but has gotten better." Yikes, if that's the case I'd hate to see how much more of a witchy little diva she was before.

I'd imagine that most Russian gymnasts look up to Svetlana Khorkina, so they're going to be divas. That was her trademark. She's even claim that she won events that she didn't. But she was also one of the best gymnasts ever, so she likely inspired a lot of the current girls.

...what? lol

Shooting competition. :p

Wait did russia do their dance bit already? I just tuned in to Gabby's on USA not too long ago? Did I miss it and how bad has it been?

Ah, well that makes sense then, ha.

Someone posted a great link to give you a UK IP address and the location of all the BBC's catalog of videos. Would some kind soul post that again?

Let's hope lochte doesn't throw the race like he did in the last relay JUST to slow Phillips medal count down

Yes I already know the outcome
WOOOO USA

Aw. I think Nastia is in London as well. :')

They were both among the highlights of Beijing.

Yeah, Nastia got a job with NBC when she didn't qualify. Unfortunate for both Shawn (her injury/retirement) and Nastia (not placing) because I would've liked to see them repeat.

I love these relay races.

She was pretty funny though, assuming that you can handle "bad sportsmanship"

Khorkina was bitter at the very end, but earlier in the evening she smiled with real, open pleasure throughout her floor routine. Besides, she should feel cheated in her drive to win an all-around Olympic title. During the all-around competition at the 2000 Olympics, her vault was set at the wrong height after a brilliant floor routine had put her in strong position for the gold medal. She fell and then, shaken, fell again on the uneven bars.

The truism of "good sportsmanship" holds that an athlete should embrace his defeat without the slightest public ambivalence—a legacy of parental pieties about what sports have to teach us. Perhaps, though, the Olympics shouldn't always be read as a parable of acceptance and striving, but rather include room for protest, too—which has its own, if more complicated, value. At the end of the night, Khorkina refused to cede the floor (and the limelight) to the younger star. As the cameras panned the room, she swung the Russian flag up behind her like a brilliant parachute and delicately danced over to the uneven bars where, curiously, she draped it over the lower bar. (It reminded me of someone placing a flag on a coffin.) Later, during interviews, she brashly proclaimed, "I'm still Olympic champion."
