How many times are NBC going to show Jordyn Wieber crying?

Ya it's getting annoying...NBC coverage isn't just bad, the commentators are annoying and the random video segments seem out of place when they should just be showing the event.

Glad I watched the BBC stream earlier.

so they're just being medal whores instead of actually competing normally like they should?
A bit of both. The Koreans were trying to lose too. Whoever won would face a stronger team in the next round, meaning they're less likely to get through to the finals.

The Koreans won so they have to face another pair from their own country.

The fault really lies with the format. Top seeds are supposed to be separated and not face each other until late in the competition. Why fix something that's been working forever?

On the other hand, you would see teams doing that in football, basketball and yet they don't face the same kind of scrutiny. I guess it's easier to mask a tank job in team sports.

The problem is in the format. The format should never punish competitors by winning. Of course neither team wanted to win if it meant they would have to face tougher competition and they were already qualified.

They should fix the format for next time so top seeds are separated as long as possible.

disgraceful.
They were probably instructed to lose by their coaches and/or federation. If they didn't, they might've been kicked off the team. I've seen disobedience thus punished in other sports.

Edit: Just to clarify, I do thing it's disgraceful, but not necessarily on the part of the athletes. In a country like China, they are employees, and they need to do their job to keep getting paid.

Yep, medal counts are always important in Olympics. It sounds like you can manipulate the results in badminton and do it within the rules. By doing this that Chinese team has likely locked up gold and silver for their country in badminton.

Must search for more pics...

Damn.

Kind of reminds me of Judy Greer.

Just got caught up on the NBC broadcast for the night... Fantastic performance by the Fab 5

1) US ladies killed it on vault, especially Maroney
2) competition was not on the level it has been in the past
3) Raisman starting to cry before her floor routine was over was powerful stuff.
4) Maroney looks evil all the time.

Congrats to Phelps on all those medals.

Damn Olympics are so awesome. I like being able to just watch all of these events all night long lol.

The best reality television.

I hope someone can gif the guy trying to slam and getting the ball stuck on the rim

USA VS SUN It was somewhere before the 7:00 mark in the 2nd quarter. Don't fail me! :)

I laughed my ass off, I'm sure you guys talked about it before but I just saw it

The competition level was actually really quite high, NBC just only showed the Russians when they messed up, but they did well overall. They were very much in competition for the gold but the USA team just never made much of a mistake so the broadcast made it look easy for them, it could have been somewhat close. One of the Russians is a strong contender to win individual gold.

I don't think NBC showed much of the Canadians either who performed well finishing just behind China. I wasn't expecting Canada to have that strong of a gymnastics team so congrats to them!

I though I was going to watch the cycling ITT all day. Turns out there are only 37 riders competing with a 90 second interval. It will all be over within 2 hours :/

the end of that pool interview was awkward as hell
must be a hard pill to swallow when you're part of a team gold and the scarce camera time you get is to make you feel like you're just the worker bee

Is it just me or is the USA the best at everything? Why do other countries even try? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yea, it was a little weird when the interviewer lady closed with "Congratulations to you all for being part of Michael's historic achievement" as the other guys grumbled "thank you" and left. lol wat.

Definitely just you, they heavily play sports that USA are great at on tv for the most part (Gymnastics, swimming, bball, volleyball) but they arent killing at everything, a good amount though.

Phelps (and team). Wow. Women's gymnastic's. Wow.

Had the exact same reaction as Aly when she began to tear up right before finishing her floor routine since the gold was already won, she finished strong anyway, and she was the most unshakable of the group. Great moments.

even during the swim, the commentators made it sound like they were swimming for him or something
and then you have the commercial talking about lezak moment using phelps footage
it's no wonder some of them seem to resent him, through no fault of his own

The tennis match between Wickmayer and Wozniacki recently was amazing. There were like 10 chances for matchpoint, the advantage was going back and forth between the 2. Havent seen an exciting match like that for a while.

Nope. It's odd how she only specializes in the medley.

The US, for instance, sends people that specialize in other swims to do the medley.

Apparently she's a free style specialist, that's why she always surges in the final lap. Hopefully we see her back in 2016 in more events.

Ooh. A nasty injury in the mens field hockey. Might have to go off on a stretcher here. Well he's up, but it doesn't look like he can carry on.

Poor Spain! They had a player break his arm the other day.
